This video was made with one GIANT assumption in mind - that the HUSBAND is ALSO following HIS role as a tender loving shepherd of his wife's heart. There are a lot of extenuating situations we left OUT of this video (such as abuse, etc). We obviously don't endorse such things, and there is a time (to be used only in situations of great urgency) for a wife to separate from a dangerous husband. Marriage is a sacred and binding thing, and not something that we take lightly, so please bear that in mind as you comment below :) Blessings!

I think we get caught up on the word "submission", because that word - to many women - implies blind obedience without any promise of respect or care by the husband. Instead of submission, I prefer the word devotion. I'm devoted to my husband and our marriage. I'm devoted to being his marriage partner and taking my vows seriously. Devotion, to me, implies responsibility and love - which is what our vows are intended to mean. Just my thoughts.

I think we all get caught up in understanding what the word “submit” means in the scripture. It isn’t being a doormat. It is a position of strength because it helps the husband be a better man, a follower of Jesus. You are a helpmate. In addition, the husband also helps the wife be a better follower of Christ.

I think your a great family , I was a good wife but had a abusive cheating spouse , so just being single and caring for my disabled child and knowing that God doesn't want me to be beaten and cheated on , so I have peace knowing I tried and forgave but now I'm living life simply single ,because otherwise I might have been killed by the abuse and then how could I help others, good testimony, and I pray for the ex that he finds God, I pray everyone finds God with God we are never alone

I’m so sorry you went through that, my ex was a narcissist cheater who was emotionally abusive to my son and I. I stayed faithful and had every intention believing he would come to his senses. He left for a younger woman with no children (who can’t have children) and married her. I do not hate him, I pray he finds God and returns to that relationship he once had wanting to preach and witness to the world. My fiancé says based on what he knows as a psychology major, it ex hadn’t left us when he did he would’ve killed us, it was God protecting us.

You are the most Godly woman and wife I've ever come to 'know'. Your love for Jesus, Brackin and your boys, shines through you Lindsay. I'm much older and separated from my husband for 13 years. He does not want to reconcile and has gone his own way. But I pray for him. And so I turn to God and submit to Him. You are all such an encouragement and blessing to me, but especially you. I love your song 'Give me Jesus', for that is the cry and desire of my heart too. God bless you.

This is my favorite Tiny Notes vlog to date. Much love, grace and peace to you all! Lindsay, you said it right when you said that when we submit to God and obey His word, our lives emit a sweet fragrance, to God, to our husbands, our children and also to the watching world! I will add that God has taught me to be PATIENT! Husbands, children, parents, friends, bosses, neighbors, etc, don't change overnight just because we offer them grace, respect, love and gentleness. I hope to encourage the wives and single women who feel they will never have this kind of marriage...PRESS IN, like Lindsay says. Never give up your hope in Christ, because He is always faithful, always with you, protecting you and delivering you, teaching you and listening to you. Praise God for His love for us!

It's really difficult for me to understand and accept submission. I've seen my mother being the provider and the caretaker, because my dad was too busy pursuing his own interests and cheating on her, rather than caring for his family and respecting his wife. I'm fortunate to have met a man who respects and loves me and I would submit to him out of love and also because we both love Jesus enough to at least try to follow His way and His guidance. I pray that all who come from dysfunctional families are inspired by your testimony, Lindsay. I know I am 😊

      HI Stephanie,
Alicia gave you good advice. I just want to encourage you, too, because I have struggled with taking the lead or trying to at times. It is my natural way, too, and it was so deeply rooted in me ( we had been married for 15 yrs before we came into a relationship with Christ, so I was set in my ways and he was used to it ). I had a desire to change and the Lord led me through some tough exercises at times to remodel my natural way. 21 yrs later I am still challenged at times, fighting that natural tendency in me, but I really love seeing my husband as the head of our family, as Christ is the church and that makes it easier to question myself when I find myself in opposition to him on certain things. He loves hearing my ideas and wants my views, but we both know that God wants him to have the final say. So, just tell the Lord how you want this and always talk to Him when you are in opposition to something and wisdom and strength will come.
      Blessings!
      Joanie

This is just what we've been studying over the past year & half... i don't care what others say, when u stick to scripture no matter what situation, God can use a beautiful wife (beautiful as in on the inside) and can win a husband not living for the Lord. This reminds me of your last anniversary vlog - while still on the sounds like rain channel - where u said that if a wife does her role it makes the man's role easier, and if a man does his role it makes the wifes role easier. Submission is ONLY stopped with the words - as unto the Lord, as is fitting in the Lord. So love you guys, thank you.

The same people who think I’m ridiculous for believing in submission in fact are the same who scold me for not controlling my husband
    They cannot understand the truth
I finally decided to not hang out with these women who have husbands who don’t really like to come home to them
It took years but my husband did do some important changes not because I controlled him but because I learned self control from God’s spirit and my husband had nobody to fight with or harass
so one month I realized he was different and the relationship got easier
He says he doesn’t know why he changed ( he’s an unbeliever)

I know nothing about marriage even though I could have been, but the relationship I was in didn't work out. Back then I was so naive, and didn't really knew what love was, neither did I know what self worth meant. Can't say I was physically abused, but I was in other ways. I was stiffled when it came to expressing myself, I was cheated on and pretty much rejected. I never knew how to honor a man because I never had a dad around me. Neither do I blame my dad because I have forgiven him for not being in my life. I'm happy when the Lord expressed his plans for me. He valued me and took me up and cleaned me off. Ministered to my soul and I now know what self worth is. I say this to say to all the singles and those about to get married that; let God chose your spouse and be patient. Once he is in the center of that relationship, he will hold the tides that binds, teach and mend in good times and bad. Don't know how I reached here but I just had to share. Lindsay, thanks for sharing and caring. Us women need to learn more about the expectations of wives towards her husband.

This was very moving to me. We are new Christian's, about 1 year old and I have always treated my husband like I know best. I dont want that anymore. I wasn't brought up the way I should have been. Mum cheated on dad n then divorced him when I was 7 or 8 years old then dragged me around , ended up having 3 step dads over space of about 7 years.

I did a bible study a few years back, and I used a book called "The Excellent Wife".That was a turning point for me. Cant remember who the author was. But, in that time of studying, had a lot of ouches, amens and, a whole bunch of emotions in between. But I kept studying and praying and finally it all came together. And it was glorious! I used to think men used that word- "submit" as a control thing. But God showed me otherwise. Life is better and I am at peace, because I know He's with me.

The Excellent Wife is usually really distorted. She’s the wife of an incredibly rich guy because she has a team of spinning and weaving women making cloth for profit, and she isn’t to haughty to be above working hands-on constantly with them. She’s trading that undyed cloth for money to get the best meats (food from afar-“food” is the word for wild game) and for more luxurious clothing (scarlet and purple) and is so business savvy that she runs a real estate investment company without her husband’s input because he trusts her that much. And she makes so much money he’s semiretired and hanging out with the elders. She also handles all the charity.
That’s an incredibly admirable woman. But even as a company owner myself...I can’t live up to that!!!

You are totally on track. Submitting to God in His Word!! Sometimes the peace and the joy do come with our obedience but remember Jesus agony in the Garden as He sought to obey and submit to the will of God. A feeling is not what we strive for but glory to God is our motivation. You are growing in godly character that is evidence of the Holy Spirit's work!
Praise the Lord! And may He continue to grow you into Jesus likeness!!

Those flowers are also beautiful! Even more beautiful when put together! Created by the masterful designer! Cared and provided for by the most loving Father in Heaven! Yes!!! We all come into marriage with expectations... Its when we delight in the Lord (obeying His design for our personal marriage and lives - especially when we are feeling our spouse does not deserve our love or respect in the moment relying on His strength and wisdom), that we truly can enjoy the desires of our hearts!!!
Being thankful for our spouse is of utmost importance for this!! Thank you for your willingness to grow in your marriage and for the example you are to so many! May the Lord continually bless you both as you raise your children in Him and follow His paths for your lives!!! - Liz Rosenbaum

To be honest, I don't really understand how the role of husband and wife is really all that different. Loving your wife as Christ loved the Church will surely involve a lot of sacrifice and submission on the husband's part as well. Love is about willing the good of the other, and to make a marriage work, submitting to each other is needed. I know that all this comes the Bible, but it really seems that St. Paul is trying to explain what a Christian marriage would look like in the patriarchal society of the time. He is essentially saying the same to both husbands and wives, just with a different emphasis.

Doing a Biblical study of the Greek word and the Hebrew words related to submit can really set in mind a different thing. Submission and the Biblical model is beautiful when it is followed. lindsey, thanks for sharing your journey. I love the way you share, humbly and gently. This is an area I continue to grow in. I can tell your faith fuels your walk.
