Great review! I own all 3 as well, and each has its useful purpose. The prices don't really compare, obviously. However, if you were matching the DJI vs the Nucleus Nano vs. the Nucleus M with the same parameters - a single servo with a single controller - the Nucleus M would be $599.

Tilta M out of my price range, did order Tilta Nano, coming in a few days, have Ronin SC with follow focus but need something for camera only (have ibis) awesome review brother, have subbed and backtracking through your vids now

I use Nucleus Nano Motor and Nucleus M Handle with the Ronin-S. A great combination.
Unfortunately, only one Nano Motor can be used in this costelation.
I'm also very surprised by the strength of the Nano Motor. Of course, the volts and amps must also be right.
No idea what you could use the Ronin-S focus system for.
you can add M motor , your handlebar can control 2 motors

Well, Nucleus Nano motor is not as weak as you it is. I've rented a setup with RED Gemini and Atlas Anamorphics on it with Nano motor and it handled it without any stress. The only struggle it may have is with old unserviced lenses with tight focus rings like russian Lomos or smth.
Solid comparison. You could have mentioned that the Ronin-S focus motor has no automation options. And I would have loved to see a practical test - it's really hard to gauge what the Nano can do, or get any idea if it will manage my lenses, which are mostly dslr and vintage m42.

Great video! You mentioned being able to power the motor via the handlebars @ 9:44 - just wanted to confirm that you were successful in doing that as the official tilta forum mentioned it wasn't possible. If so that would be amazing!
It is possible but it will kill battery fast

@6:57 you talk about Handle grip M with the Nano... I need to adjust speed, i'm using Panasonic S1 with Milvus lenses... Can i buy the nano and the handle grip M in order to reduce the cost and being able to control the speed ? can i power the Nano with that handle ?

Yes you can. Nano is very tiny so make sure it can move your lenses without problem....
Tilta has stated that the tilta-N can receive more power for a higher motor gearing from an energy source that comes from a P-Tap connection, but so far no one I know has fully tested this. Would be interesting if you could look into it! Thank you! and Thank you for the great video comparison, you're the only one that really went to that much detail about each unit.
I have used both ronin mx usb supply and ronin s power, i was able to move any lens i tried with nucleus nano. Limitation is not in the power but in controlling the unit speed of rotation.
@@IamIvanStan So you're saying the power source did allow you move any lens, but the problem is in the speed of how fast the lens is moving. So even if it moved a bigger lens it was "slow" and you cant change that? Thank you for the feedback, might have to purchase the M as a stand alone with the controller and buy the handles later.
@@Dubi00 no it is not slow it is moderate in speed and you cannot change that. Often i want fast pull. Or slow. You do not adjust that in motor, but in controller. You must purchase handlebars as it is handlebars that allow you to set the speed in the menu

@@Dubi00 I was not able to find any adjustment options in the big fiz unit. right handlebar has a joystick and a knob. knob can work at normal speed or turbo speed, while joystick can be set precisely from 1 to 100. the left handlebar doe snot have a joystick, only knob, so you can purchase just the right handlebar, and it can work with one N motor and one M motor or two M motors.

right hand controller with m motor you can buy separately, it is what i use although i have the full kit

I have used smallrig cage and rods that came with tilta nano and one smallrig rod.

@@mierimage4379 just as i said above. You need a cage first. I used smallrig. Then any two 15mm rods , can also be from smallrig. I used the ones which came with nucleus Nano
great vid, did you notice a difference in the tilta M, when powering from handle bar vs example D or P tap power ?
Handle bar can barely move the motors and quickly gets the battery drained. Fully charged is 7.8v and at 7.5 it stops to work

Ivan - did you test using the Nano controller with an M motor?
Yes. It is the same as with n motor. No control over it.
Hello Ivan, thank you very much. May I ask you that could the Nucleus M main control unit and handlebars both control the Nucleus Nano motor? If the answer is yes, the Nucleus Nano motor could be a very cheap solution as the add-on of Nucleus M system.

I want a follow focus setup like you have for my ronin s but all the lenses I have are the ones with digital motors that you point out are incompatible with a follow focus setup. What lenses would you recommend for Sony for that setup or which ones do you use? Would much appreciate your advice on this.
you need a manual lens. i do not use focus pulling, at least not often, i rely on autofocus which works great. actually cant figure whats the deal with interest in focus motors. i use motors to change zoom mostly, and sometimes aperture...

zoom yes, focus will work, depending if linear or not, will have all or some functions...

What's that handlebar on the left, under your ronin? I use ulanzi, the only one for rs2, and it twists when I try to use it.

I did not test much. It does work.
Ronin S speed adjustment can change in the app.. u can choose 3 of them
those settings are for software focus settings using wheel only without any motors and the wheel itself is utterly and completely useless...

I just ordered the Tilta Nucleus M left hand focus grip to use with my Nucleus Nano. Is there anything I should be aware when using these together?
Right hand has zoom and focus, left only has focus, you will need battery charger separately i think...

Right hand Nucleus m handlebar for controller is a must. As for motors, motor can be either nano or m. You can have nano motor alone, m motor alone, nano and m motors together, or two m motors. You cannot have two nano motors though.
