    I have only a few of those roses and will definitely say Scepter'd Isle is my hardest working most blooming rose I have. Constantly blooming with buds. Being its hot here in Florida I have open blooms I love both forms of this rose. Its a favorite of the bees as well. Olivia Austin is new to me and also blooming like crazy. Love them both I will have to get Princess Anne after seeing your videos of her.

    Hi Ben, Just recently subscribed to your RUclips channel and enjoy your videos very much. I too share your passion and love of roses. Placed an order with David Austin for the Spring based on your recommendations a few days ago. Can't wait to see how they do in my 7b garden zone in Long Island, NY. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm, knowledge and great, big heart with the world. The love of flowers and gardening transcends across all boarders and cures all that ailes us.

    The best repeat flowering David Austin rose that I have is John Clare. It outperforms Iceberg here in Australia and that's really saying something. It's a semi-double flower which probably helps it being so prolific.

    Ben, I love watching your videos you are so knowledgeable. I am looking for a rose where the heads sit upright and don't face downwards. Also upright in growth which gives an airy appearance - like Nye Bevan which I bought recently and love everything about it. Do you know of something similar? Thank You.

    Do you think you could talk David Austin's company into allowing you to write their rose descriptions? Their's are so dry that I would never decide to buy an English rose. You definitely have passion for your roses and it is reflected in your talks. They need your input!

    My list is almost ready for the ordering season. I was wondering Ben why Gertrude Jekyll in shrub form isn’t on your lists. I know it’s not very new but can you tell me the reason? Black spot maybe? I deleted Boscobel for that reason. And the other is Munstead Wood I’m on the fence about. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @zhrob1
      @zhrob1 Год назад

      Gertrude puts out many big and highly scented flowers in the spring and it will flower again and again but not usually as much in terms of repeat, I hear, as some of the varieties Ben has listed here. Munstead is discontinued in the UK. Boscobel can be very healthy and when it comes to blackspot there can be many factors that determine your experience with a particular rose. For instance, your local weather, your feeding regime, your soil health, hours of sunlight, etc.
      Ben will advocate that many of the roses he is presenting are some of the best roses DA has been putting out in recent years, and more yet to come. Hope that helps.

    WOW, you always have such beautiful blooms. I am new to your channel & had been watching the old videos. You always have the biggest blooms on a David Austin rose I have ever seen. How do you do that? What fertilizer are you using? You probably do not have aphids or the most dreaded Japanese beetles 😢

    • @the_gardenerben
      @the_gardenerben  2 года назад +1

      I don’t tend to fertilise or feed instead of focusing on soil health and overall condition I mulch with organic compost to a depth of at least 4 inches every year I control a fits with increasing habitat for things like ladybirds hover flies and earwigs and luckily in this garden no I do not have Japanese beetles although I did in my last property
