Answer: one of their treasures is / has been that they have a natural aptitude for singing and for music in general. It is in their genes. See for example "allsång på Skansen", Stockholm, where they meet and sing together once a week in the summertime. And their people's soul goes very, very deep. ABBA was one of the very first artists to be known outside of Scandinavia. A big hug from Norway, neighbour of Sweden.

I was a kid when this song came out and I loved it. My Dad adored this song and just loved to here it played. They wrote and sung some of the most beautiful songs ever. I'm glad you enjoy their music.

Oh really Pavel? You always manage to surprise me... and I'm glad we've been friends for quite a while now, so I know my rant will not have you turn away... I also still like you very much, even if you love ABBA! For me anyone may love whoever they feel inclined to love. As long as you're not trying to proselytize on me I can't see a problem... I'm still trying to figure out why they always have me spit venom... It's not a question of my current mood which is stable, they have been a red flag for me for 40 years now... Don't know what's going on, tried to get closer to it in my last long comment above... have you read it? Can you see that discrepancy between musical and lyrical content which I think might be a main clue...?
@@Hundhammer I didn't say I loved them.But in Soviet times there was little foreign music for obvious reasons.That's why we listened to that music.which was allowed. ABBA is my youth.And youth is always nice to remember.Isn't it?

When I came to the age to revolt against my parent's musical taste I was lucky to have alternatives to ABBA (weren't there any Beatles in the USSR?), so I went with Led Zeppelin... Won't even try to imagine what might have happened to me if I had been in your position... but luckily you overcame it and now are able to appreciate real music like Dina and Alisa... ;) - But why, I wonder, would the Soviet regime allow ABBA exclusively? Did they think they could not spoil people's system loyalty? This is a really interesting question, I will have to do some research on that...

Great reaction! If you have time and desire there exist a brilliant Spansih version, video from a TV show "300 Millons". I think this song was over 30 weeks on the top of the Mexican charts. Also you will find the fantastic "Estoy Sonanda", in English "I Have A Dream".
Some ABBA titles send out this Spanish feeling as they were originally made en espanol (the whole album calls "Grazias POR La Musica"). All the best for you!

I am from Mexico and Spanish is my mother language. Let me explain the term "chiquitita" to you:
1. It all starts with the adjective "chico" (masculine) or "chica" (feminine), which means small. When referring to a person, it means a young boy or girl, not necessarily a kid or toddler but rather a young person.
2. In informal Latin American Spanish, we add the "ito" or "ita" ending to adjectives to minimize their meaning. So, in this case, we add "ita" to "chica" and it first transforms into "chiquita", meaning an even smaller thing. When referring to a person, it means a small girl or little girl but the "ita" ending also adds the meaning of affection to it so it means a young o little girl for whom we feel affection.
3. By adding an additional "ita" to the same adjective we keep stressing the meaning of small or, in the case of a person, the meaning of a little person and even more affection. So the word "chiquita" becomes "chiquitita": a very young or little girl for whom we feel a lot of affection.
4. We could keep adding "ita" endings to keep stressing the same meaning but the word starts sounding too exaggerated: "chiquititita" or "chiquitititita" (meaning really tiny in the case of an object), but in the case of a person it is too exaggerated so it starts making no sense. So the BEST word to express love an affection for a little young girl is "chiquitita", the song name.
5. "Chiquitita" is NOT a name, like Laura or Maria or Susan. It is an ADJECTIVE.
So in this song, the singer is talking to a very young and little girl for whom the singer feels a lot of affection and whose heart has been broken or is extremely sad for some reason. For me, it is a song about hope, motivation, and resilience. It is a song about support and about finding the strength to move forward in life even when we feel devastated. The last part of the song, the piano solo, is my favorite segment because I interpret it as the moment when the chiquitita, struggling to find energy and strength within her, finally gets up, wipes her tears off, and starts walking again.
It is a beautiful song that also makes me cry every time I listen to it, at the beginning because of the sadness and then again at the end because of the hope it conveys.

The song describes a person who comforts a little girl (chiquitita = little girl in Spanish) who is very sad, my grandfather used to sing that song in Spanish to my sister when she was sad. ABBA is excellent and Agnetha is the most beautiful woman on the planet.
To me, it's a song of self reflection.
It's the younger you speaking to the older you.

Benny who plays the paino (and lyrics Björn) the songwriter spent years on each melody and bit. He put in a lot of work on each delicate part of the composition. He shows it well in this vid. The fact that you react with inner joy is proof he got value of his work.

is amazing i sang this to my girlfriend in jail, so I kept sining to teach the police a lesson, dont arrest anyone and try break them in that arrest not a day or more, she my girlfriend only had to sit there 3 hours;LOL❤Of Course i had to save her out. I was let out 38 hours later, this was 20 years ago. We was maybe drinking in the park on sunny day, cause we not afford to sit at a streetbar , we was aproach by police and they jalous on me, girfriend was a beaty BEYOND All you can Imagine. The avatar was Prima🤣😂so Police see me, bad boy with this they took us in arrest. But that song singed by me, was sure to be tortur for poilce so they had to let my girl go. I never managed to like one single ABBA song - their songwriting is great, and I like, even love some ABBA covers, they are really good songs as long as it's someone else playing them, but as soon as they themselves touch them it's all spoiled for me, can't stand the way they are orchestrating and producing, can't stand their voices... I'm always saying ABBA should be forbidden to record their songs, they should restrict themselves on writing good songs for other artists who are better producers and performers...
