    I am awestruck, as I was that night. A blood moon eclipse and a lineup of 4 planets. But really, every little thing you did was magic. My hat is off to you.

    Beautiful job. Really enjoyed it - can't wait until North American gets one next January. Living in a remote part of the country does have some advantages - there is a lot of open sky in the woods of Maine. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Qué hermosa toma. He notado que la sombra empieza del lado superior izquierdo, cubre la luna poco a poco y curiosamente se.empieza a retirar yéndose por el lado.superior derecho, o sea que fue casi como.dibujando una letra " U". Thank you for this video. It's awesome.

    Trying to prepare for the January 20, 2019 blood moon... This timelapse is really great. What focal length did you use? How did you adjust the frame so as to show the movement -- without the moon moving out of the frame during the shoot? Great work!

    How did you make this time lapse? When I zoomed up on the Moon that close, the moon would move out of camera in 15 minutes; but yet here it took almost 6 hours for you, how?

    very beautiful but in reality it was never dark or invisible. I don't quite understand why the film shows a transition like that - is this some kind of technical problem with lightness?

    • @jupiter3067
      @jupiter3067 6 лет назад +3

      The sensitive cells on a digital camera don't work the same way as our eyes.
      You shoud adjust the aperture to avoid over or under exposure. It a little bit like during a solar eclipse you can see it without a protection until the complete eclipse occurs. Even if there is only 0,01% of the sun light, you can burn your retina. It's the same adjustment for photography/videography. If there is a little portion of lunar light, the camera will adjust it's aperture to this high light spot, making the rest of the image completely dark/black After the Moon is completely in the shadow, the camera can readjust its aperture to the highest light spot detected and here we are with this orange/red colour :-)
      So yes it's technically a question of brightness of the Moon :-)
      Did photograph one Lunar eclipse 3-4 years ago, and was so upset not be able to see this orange/red color... if I decrease my aperture value (letting more light come thrue my lens), it was over exposed, and if i increase the aperture I could just see the "white" moon crescent. I really have to wait until de complete eclipse to finally fine an aperture value letting this orange/red colour appear.

      The reason for the darkness was because they had to use different ISO levels (light sensitivity) in order to get the first part, but once the moon was fully covered in shadow, they had to increase the ISO in order to get more light into the camera

      Hi Jupiter3067, Use spot metering and manual setting to get the correct exposure.

    • @jupiter3067
      @jupiter3067 6 лет назад

      Spot metering will not help to photography a lunar eclipse correctly. If I select the "dark" side of the lunar eclipse while there is style a bright side, the picture will be overexposed on the bright side of the eclipse and if I select the bright side, the dark side will be underexposed. Sometimes, you just have to deal with Mother Nature and wait for the perfect conditions... the totality of an eclipse to be able to "spot metering" the all scene. Try to spot-meter a solar eclipse while there still 0,01% of the sun light.... you will sure have a surexposed picture... no matter how you take the picture. Except if you spot meter the sun light, but in this case you will photograph the little sun crescent correctly.

      I too wonder where Jason C. took these pictures? His RUclips channel and videos indicate he is located near Toronto, Canada. Since this lunar eclipse on 27/28 July could not be seen in N. America, Jason must be traveling somewhere when he captured this astro. event, or the video is a nicely edited version of some existing clip. Hopefully, Jason will soon respond to questions in the Comments section.

    And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
