- "I Useta Lover" is a 1990 song by Irish rock group The Saw Doctors. It is the second single off the "If This Is Rock and Roll, I Want My Old Job Back" album.
It spent 35 weeks in the Irish charts including a record 9 weeks at #1 and became the best-selling single of all time in the country.
This Video is for the 2007 Re-Release for the RTE People In Need Telethon, when it charted again 17 years later this time reaching #7
So here I am in 2023, 47 years old, and this is still as fresh as it was when I was in my teens.
I’m almost 16 and have grown up with this type of music
I’m 49 and only heard this for the the first time today in 2023 because of Peter Kay on an Irish chat show with a young Henry Kelly lookalike as the host…
Im now 59 & my late mum was a beautiful Irish lady from Co Galway & with a Scottish Father & me born in London England & growing up in BristolI but this song makes me feel Irish & proud of it 🍀🤷♂️, peaxe and love to all my Mc Donagh, Mc Mahon & Flanagan cousins ❤😉🍻👍
I'm 47 too and this sounds a bit more interesting and less like boggery rubbish. I guess it was a big hit with the culchies, especially the ones that never went to the big smoke.
Same for me.😂
I miss 90s Ireland. Don't care what people say, those were THE days!
you're right
you're dead right bai
@@panzermatt
They sure were. 😎👍
Nothing like playing the songs from my youth when feeling homesick and dreaming of greener lands. Music transports us all
Hits like a truck so it does. Moved to Glasgow a few months ago, missing home. This brings me back to Ennis
Not the home we all left unfortunately. Walk down O Connell Street now. Doesn't look anything like Ireland.
One of the greatest Irish bands
When I hear any saw doctors tracks
It makes me smile and makes me want to dance like my
Life depended on it

I thought I was the only one that remembered that bit. Thought I'd imagined it!
This song and video is an instant mood lifter. I see so many depictions of people at their worst, brings me down. This is the antidote.
I've just discovered these guys.....My life has changed for the better!
Have you been incarcerated lol
They're a joy, no. Best live act in Ireland. We've been praying for them to have one last reunion tour. If you ever get the chance to see them... its' the biggest sing along you'll ever attend
High kings. And wolfetones
BIERKELLER... BRISTOL, ENGLAND
We lived you guys so much, gave more solidarity to us English of Irish Parents, love the Doctors even 31 years later
One of the best songs to have ever reached No.1 in the Irish charts.
Still holds the record for the country's all-time biggest-selling single
Quite right as well!!! Brilliant song.
And so it should. A masterpiece!

Not sure why this great song never made it across the pond. I discovered it here in the US. Shame it never played on US radio (to my knowledge, anyway)
.
If you had WFUV out of Fordham U in NYC you would have heard it.
Fucking *LOVE* the Irish! Hope they don't mind me saying that as a *Brit!*
Thanks for your nice comment. Best wishes from Ireland. ☘☘☘👍
brings back great memories as I sip my Jameson and eat my soda bread in L.A. Gonna be big and green next year!
I love this track, but I love the video even more, People at their best, joining in no matter how silly they look, Music is all about enjoyment and being part of it. well done :)
LOVE you guys. Saw you guys YEARS ago at Irish Fest in Palos Park Illinois. You signed your CD for me and my buddy caught the hat you threw into the audience. Then the next year it was raining and you had to play in a tent and everyone was yelling to sit down and when you came on you told everyone to stand up. BRILLIANT. And we did. LOVE YA!
First saw them on the James Whale Radio Show on Yorkshire TV, been a fan ever since. Must've seen them 20+ times over the years but just twice since I moved to the States in 2006. Just turned 59 n be at the Aragon Ballroom Chicago in July!
Thanks for the party! Love from Preston, England. I wish I could join you. I'm going to play this again.

Just watching the Pete Doherty about the murder of Mark Blanco which PD may have been involved. PD's lowlife associate Paul Roundhill also present when the writer of this great track Paul Cunliffe met his end. Very sad 😢 and why do the bad ones get away with it so often 😡😡

I'm going to shave my arse and give it a nose and change my name to curly ..
Banging tune but it's creepy lyrics in hindsight.
In what way is it creepy?...should have just called everyone a ho and flashed a load of gangs signs and guns while strippers 'twerk' that would be great altogether you'd have no problem then.
Good song written by an English punk rocker would you believe.
lovely old galway before it was enriched with diversity.
Would you ever just fuck off with that sort of shite. Galway was full of every sort of foreigner and crusty decades (centuries really) before this video was made. And welcome they are too.
@@Dreyno The "Spanish" Arch comes to mind! It's the diversity that MAKES Galway!
David Reynolds
Very well said. And that person deserved that slap from you. I just can't stand that kind I'd talk. It's horrible.
Brilliant
