So nice and, at the same time, so sad to see how Porto Alegre was before the floods that hit RS hard in May 2024. Some of the places shown in the video were severely damaged. Hopefully, everything could be rebuilt and even improved. The Gaucho people, Brazil, and everyone else deserve a joyful Port again.

Sim o "Mercado Público" ficou praticamente debaixo d'agua, nessas ruas aí em volta do Mercado se andava somente de barco. Eu cresci aí no Centro de Porto Alegre e... bom melhor deixar isso tudo pra trás.
Yeah, the "Public Market" was practically underwater, in those streets around the Market you could only travel by boat. I grew up there in the center, downtown of Porto Alegre and... well, it's better to leave all that behind.

And I can agree, Brazilian food is awesome. My favourite thing about it is how we take food from other cultures and improve it in our own way. It's nice to live in Porto Alegre and to see your video! Just a quick note: the meat cut isn't "Alcatraz," it's just "Alcatra," which is also my favorite! We have a lot of mixed culture with Uruguay, so I recommend trying their barbecue as well-you won't regret it.
The Casa de Cultura Mário Quintana used to be a hotel, and Mário Quintana was a famous Brazilian poet and journalist who lived there for several years.
I would also suggest visiting the Gasômetro, the floating pub, and taking the White Swan trip. Gasômetro is an old power plant that has been converted into a museum and event space. There's an old tower that's approximately 100 meters high. The floating pub is a pub and restaurant built on the water next to Gasômetro. Just beside it, you'll find the port where you can board the White Swan and other boats for a trip on the Guaíba River. The trip isn't long, but it's amazing, especially on a sunny day, because you can see the islands and the famous sunset from the shore.

Sad it was cloudy, cause the sunset here is our main postcard, and seeing it from Casa de Cultura is a nice experience
And "the central park" has another vibe on a sunny sunday, with lots of people, a fair, food and sometimes music
P.s: loved Cali saying "obrigada" to the waiter, that's really brazilian of her, cause we say that a hundred times in a rodízio when they serve us something 😂

It's so nice to watch an international channel showing our city! Brazil is a country with a lot of traditions, but we most see Rio being resumed as the Brazilian culture. Unfortunately, many places that appeared in the video were severely damaged by the april flood, and seeing it before the water's break is just a nostalgic feeling. Thanks for sharing the world a little bit of our hometown! And yes, gaúchos have the best churrasco in the entire world ❤

There is horseback ridding competitions and lots and lots of churrasco going on all the time. Everyone dress up like they are in the midwest 1800's it's a hoot. Your family would love it@@YaleWall

Hey! I really enjoyed watching your video about Porto Alegre. You went to so many cool places and if you come back i would recommend some more such as: Praça da Encol: unlike Parque Farroupilha, Encol is a very safe place it does not have soo many things to do but many of the locals love to go there!
Parque Moinhos de Vento: This is not as safe as Encol, but it's a pretty big park with some history behind it and it's pretty close to some awesome restaurants and bookstores (they are as expensive as they are awesome lol) and the buildings in the area are really pretty. Also, it is close to another park with loads of history its name is "Caixa da Água" (i know.) but belive me it is so incredibly beautiful.
If you want to explore more of the cuisine here i would recommend going to Padre Chagas, it is a street full of restaurants and there are loads of different options.
Those ideas are in a part of the city that fortunatly was not so affected by the floodings. It saddens me to watch your video and be reminded of the good times everyone used to have in those places before it was flooded. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the city!
