As a Brazilian American, born in Porto Alegre, I want to express my gratitude to you for showing the gauchos' capital. The flood of 2024 damaged many areas of Porto Algre, but not our spirit. We will be back.Thank you very much.
So nice and, at the same time, so sad to see how Porto Alegre was before the floods that hit RS hard in May 2024. Some of the places shown in the video were severely damaged. Hopefully, everything could be rebuilt and even improved. The Gaucho people, Brazil, and everyone else deserve a joyful Port again.
Yeah, the "Public Market" was practically underwater, in those streets around the Market you could only travel by boat. I grew up there in the center, downtown of Porto Alegre and... well, it's better to leave all that behind.
Thanks so much! We spent a bunch of time in Bento Gonçalves, Caxias do Sul, and Pinto Bandeira and we stayed in Farroupilha in this video:ruclips.net/video/5MZTiotE9k0/видео.htmlsi=Eq2J8R_5hDfjgBo3. We also have a Gramado video coming. We loved the countryside too! More videos coming soon :)
Hi! Im from Poa (how we affectionately calls Porto Alegre) and Im so happy to a “gringo” wants to knows our city and enjoy it!! Especially after the flood… thanks to show for the world how incredible are our city! obs: Mario Quintana was a very popular artist after his death, he had a several health problems so he couldn’t go out and then his parents created a hotel to him - and to the people. His room was away from everything and everyone. His poetry is very beautiful and famous in our state until now.
Hugs from Porto Alegre. Porto Alegre the best city in the world, definitely our capital of the world. Yes, we are locals. Always come back. God bless you.
As a gaúcho, it's so awesome seeing people from another countries visiting our state. I'm glad that you experienced our churrasco and liked it and I really hope you got to experience pão de alho too. It has to be one of the best things to eat together with churrasco. And I can agree, Brazilian food is awesome. My favourite thing about it is how we take food from other cultures and improve it in our own way. And if you come back to Brazil, you should totally visit Palmeira das Missões and some countryside cities. They are the best.
Cool video! Porto Alegre is one of the best cities in Brazil Ive ever visited! People there were so polite and kind to my family and their food was stunning!
As a porto-alegrense (how we call the people born in Porto Alegre), I am very happy and grateful for you to have shared a little of our city and our culture! Brazil is a very vast country both territorially and culturally. Porto Alegre may not be the biggest or most known brazilian city but is a beautiful and enchanting city and I think that everyone who doesn't know the city should one day visit Porto Alegre! I'm happy that you enjoyed our city!
I am a "portoalegrense" person from the city of Porto Alegre and consequently I am a gaucho (born in Rio Grande do Sul) your content is so good, that even though I know the city from start to finish I got stuck in your content and with all the affection and respect who shared their experience with my city. You gained a new follower! ❤
I live in Porto Alegre and I love being here. Of course, Brazil is not perfect, but qualities and defects exist everywhere. The problem is that I see many people who have never set foot in our country saying things they don't know. Brazil is beautiful and we have always been known for being happy, talking a lot and hugging each other a lot. ❤
To be honest I'm very surprise because I've never seen a foreign review video about Porto Alegre. The way the barbecue restaurant served you was invented in my hometown.
For me, as a citizen born and residing in Porto Alegre, I'm happy and congratulate you on the great video. On your next visit, I suggest you also visit the football stadiums and learn a bit about the history of our teams Sport Club Internacional and Gremio Football Porto Alegrense, which have great national and international achievements. There's also the Theatro São Pedro, the Parcão, the Guaíba Sunset, and also about the traditionalist culture (CTG).
Very, very, very happy to see this video about my birthplace and were I grew up. Now I'm living in a city at Porto Alegre metropolitan area but sometimes I come back to Porto Alegre to visit it. I usually say that I leave Porto Alegre but Porto Alegre didn't leave me. Thank you to unlock good feelings about my city. As we say: TRI TEU VÍDEO!!!
Parque Farroupilha Magic is on weekends, when it gets totally full with people drinking... Err, mate, and talking, and the Redenção Fair with arts and stuff
@@YaleWall Brique da Redenção happens every sunday at Parque Farroupilha, and it is great. There's all sorts of things to buy, from food to random goods and artisan itens, with fair prices also. Sadly, besides the fair, there's not much else to do there
So happy to see tourists going to places in Brazil besides Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Brazil is much more than one single identity, and as a Gaucho, I salute you.

Come back to Porto Alegre in September and get to know our Gaucho culture during Farroupilha Week. I bet you will like it and eat a lot of barbecue. Tks buddy.
I love it how everywhere you go, you stop for a HUGE cup of coffee filled with whipped cream and chocolate... no wonder you enjoy every spot in Brazil.... 😅😅😅

It's so nice to watch an international channel showing our city! Brazil is a country with a lot of traditions, but we most see Rio being resumed as the Brazilian culture. Unfortunately, many places that appeared in the video were severely damaged by the april flood, and seeing it before the water's break is just a nostalgic feeling. Thanks for sharing the world a little bit of our hometown! And yes, gaúchos have the best churrasco in the entire world ❤
Wow! I love knowing that people from outside Brazil are finally coming to explore more than just Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. I really love my country! I'm from Rio Grande do Sul and was born in Porto Alegre. I really enjoy it when our culture is appreciated. Thanks! And I hope you had fun here.
It's really cool to see people from different nationalities visiting and showing the beauty of Porto Alegre to the world. I live near this city and Porto Alegre (AKA Poa) is my favorite city in Brazil without a shadow of a doubt
You should definetely come back during September the 20th's week. You'd be absolutely flaggerblasted on how much the city just transforms for the Farroupilha Week
It's an amazing festival celebrating gaúcho culture. They build a camp in the middle of the city that last for two weeks. There is horseback ridding competitions and lots and lots of churrasco going on all the time. Everyone dress up like they are in the midwest 1800's it's a hoot. Your family would love it@@YaleWall
@YaleWall yes, but alegre (joyful) and alegria (joy) are not interchangeable in portuguese. Porto Alegre means joyful port/harbour, not port of joy. As silly as this may seem, there is a huge semantic difference between the two.
Thank you for visiting Porto Alegre. I love my city and I'm glad you enjoyed being here. Mario Quintana was a famous poet who lived at the Magestic hotel. The barbecue here is really better. Check back often
living here all my life ive never seen the city through this perspective, i really like living here but it was never something crazy, you make me appreciate my hometown a little more, thanks
Thanks a lot for this video! Sometimes I fell like running out of my "Port of Joy" in this very sad moment after the floods. But you guys make me remember how nice and intersting Porto Alegre is. 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Amazing video my friend. I was born and raised in Porto Alegre but now live in a nearby city called Canoas. I almost came to tears watching this because the Mercado Publico and all you showed at the beginning of the video were flooded by 1.8 meters of water in May 2024... The city, and all the Rio Grande do Sul suffer quite a bit, and the recovery is slow, but we're all doing our best, so one day you can come back, and maybe eat some "Xis Burger" here in Canoas as well :)
This video was a great surprise! Thanks for showing Porto Alegre to the world. It is a great city to live in with one of the best food in the country. You have to come back next time to try the Italian food in a type of restaurant we call 'galeteria'. Mamma Mia, Pastaciutta and D'Italiani are some great examples. Also the pizzas, eating a 'rodízio', where they serve all flavors of pizza,. You would be in love, and shocked, swear! Congrats for the video, it was really amazing!
Thanks for the advice. I actually have been to many different pizza rodizos, and a couple galeterias, but they just didn’t make it in the video. I have more Brazil videos coming soon!
Such a nice video of our city, thank you! Also, for those who come to Porto Alegre, don't miss the sunsets by Ibere Camargo museum and the Pontal park, always surreal vibes mainly during weekends. I'd also recommend hanging out at districts such as Moinhos de Vento and Bom Fim, lots of amazing restaurants and coffee shops. Also Parcão (Moinhos de Vento park) is much safer than Redenção, but Redenção, on the other hand, gets super joyful and full of life during sunny weekends, definitely a better time to go there
Hi... surprised with your video, I helped to build the first version of this garden (Casa de Cultura) were you recorded your introduction. Now the responsible is an important local landscape designer. Nice you liked our city. Feel yourself always welcome here.
I was kind sad when your wife and you said "disgusting" for our chimarrão (mate), but then you "recompensed" us by aprecciating all the rest. Thanks for this. Our food is really delicious. And thanks for showing a part of Southern Brazil, cause people only know Rio, São Paulo and the Northern beaches (which I love, but Brazil is much more!)
I’m very happy to see how the way they like our city because the people from other countries think Brazil is only Carnaval. We are much more than this. At next time, please, come to Gramado at state of Rio Grande Do Sul

Thanks! And I hope you had fun here.
thank you for showing our beautiful city and culture to the world!
Cidade linda
sim, é realmente lindo!
Filmagens muito boas!! Parabéns!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻... Welcome to South Brazil, Porto Alegre City!!👍🏻👍🏻
It's really cool to see people from different nationalities visiting and showing the beauty of Porto Alegre to the world. I live near this city and Porto Alegre (AKA Poa) is my favorite city in Brazil without a shadow of a doubt
Thx for come. You are welcome. ❤
Thank you!
Wow such Nice vídeo. Porto Alegre is a great place to know, full of culture, nice history and delicious food. Valeu, gringo🙏
Congratulations for you show the wounderful places and our culture. Your editing videos is well made and creative. Whos your editor?
You should definetely come back during September the 20th's week. You'd be absolutely flaggerblasted on how much the city just transforms for the Farroupilha Week
That’s what I’ve heard! I need to see it some day.
"Happy Harbour" is a much better translation for the name of the city 😅 0:04
Port and harbor are used in the exact same way in English, and happy and joy are used interchangeably as well.
He got it right about Schneider. As a born and raised Gaucha myself, it can't be beaten.
So true!
Thank you so much for showing our culture and for doing a great video about the city where I live!!
No problem!!
Grate vídeos man! Happy eyes about my city!
Thanks!
Parabéns, excelente vídeo sobre nossa capital!
living here all my life ive never seen the city through this perspective, i really like living here but it was never something crazy, you make me appreciate my hometown a little more, thanks
You’re welcome! Sometimes you just need to see your city from another light :)
Thanks a lot for this video! Sometimes I fell like running out of my "Port of Joy" in this very sad moment after the floods. But you guys make me remember how nice and intersting Porto Alegre is. 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Glad you enjoyed your stay!! It was really cool to see your perspective on our city. Come back whenever 🤗
Cool, thanks for watching!
I'm from Porto Alegre, I'm very happy that a foreigner comes to visit Rio Grande do Sul, you're very welcome!😁
Thank you for sharing about my City, I was borne and live here.
Thanks for being so welcoming!
The best day to go to Farroupilha Park is on Sunday, because there is a huge art fair.
Thank you for showing the world our city ❤
Yeah, I need to check it out on a weekend sometime!
Also Parcão (Moinhos de Vento park) is much safer than Redenção, but Redenção, on the other hand, gets super joyful and full of life during sunny weekends, definitely a better time to go there
That’s great, thanks for the advice!
Erva mate is not disgusting!!! It's really revigorating for our people! Also is a sacred herb for indigenous people
Hi... surprised with your video, I helped to build the first version of this garden (Casa de Cultura) were you recorded your introduction. Now the responsible is an important local landscape designer. Nice you liked our city. Feel yourself always welcome here.
Oh, very cool! Your team did incredible work. Thanks for the warm welcome.
I’m glad you liked it! I really tried to like mate too, maybe it’ll grow on me and I’ll like it someday :)
Obrigado por vir conhecer e mostrar nossa cidade!
You’re welcome, we loved it!
I’m very happy to see how the way they like our city because the people from other countries think Brazil is only Carnaval. We are much more than this. At next time, please, come to Gramado at state of Rio Grande Do Sul
I actually did go to Gramado, and I have another video of that coming soon!
I`m glad that you could enjoy our city after of the biggest flood in the history of Brazil. You`re welcome to comeback ;)
I went before the flood. I was very sad to hear about how the flood destroyed so much!
Porto Alegre is the best city in the world, thank you for your visit
Quem bom que gostaram, nasci no RS vê o e trabalho aqui… Sejam sempre bem vindos …
What an incredible video!
I hope you enjoyed our capital of Rio Grande do Sul, maybe next time you can go to "Gramado" (it is without a doubt another wonderful city in Brazil)
Greetings from Guaíba!
It’s funny that you say that… I’ve got a video of Gramado coming soon!
@@YaleWall Wow, I'll be waiting to watch haha
loved the video!!! but you really should have gone to the park on the weekend. On saturday, there is a great farmers market and on sundays, there is a fair full of beautiful art and amazing food for you to try🥰 Also, since it is very crowded on weekends, it is much safer. I am really glad you liked my hometown, hope you guys come visit again❤️
Yeah, I need to check it out on a weekend sometime. Thanks for the warm welcome!
A lot of talented craft went into making this video! Great job!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing a litle some of the best in Brazil. I live in Porto Alegre and I know whole place so your video gives me a mental refreshment, showing how incredible our hometown is. Brasil has one of the best place to live in the world, our people are amazing, our food is incredible, our climate is amazing (exclude this recent thinks that happened). If one day we also have the best politicians, no one grab us. 😅 Thanks for your job.
