Bass Fishing Brookville with Cincinnati Kayak Fishing Tournament

- I fished the Cincinnati Kayak Fishing bass tournament on Brookville Lake and ended up 18th out of 41 anglers. All of my fish came on a weightless Senko in shallow water near the shore grass or wood. It was so fun to actually catch a few fish in a tournament for a change!

I don't bass fish much anymore, but the funny thing is that I'd rig with several different lures and then always end up catching fish with the plastic worm. I car topped a kayak for three years and always kept a couple of large towels with me to keep the car from getting scratched. I like the back camera angle, pretty cool seeing the fish strikes and the hook sets.
Thanks! And I get it, I really want there to be a moving bait bite because that's the most fun for me! But I'm learning to switch to slow finesse if I have to.
Your videos make me happy! Always rooting for you... thanks for taking us so long on the trip.
Thanks for the kind words!
Congratulations Melissa ! You did great ! Never second guess yourself!
Thank you!
@@GirlGoneFishing your very welcome!
You go girl! Having fun is what it’s all about.
Thanks! It was a good day! :)
Nice!! My 2018 has 109,000 miles!
No issues, changed on Oil and filter every 5,000 miles with Castrol 0-20 and OEM filter. Clean my K&N air filter. Changed the brakes pads.
Everything is good!
At East Hardor only bass I can get to hit is on a Yamamoto black and blue tip senko wacky. A dude on the bank nailed a 4lb on a swimbait cause busting shad. Other dude in a Hobie Outback decked out nailed a 18.5' right in front of me by the kayak ramp( I had to pull over and relieve myself lol)
Cool video, keep them coming
I guess I need to start googling how to do that stuff!
FISHING is so much more fun when you catch fish! Glad to see you limit out AND start culling!!!!
In your instance electronics prolly would have been just a distraction.
Yeah, I was lucky that I knew a shallow area I could fish! I haven't been doing this long enough to have much experience or history on lakes yet, but Brookville this was my 4th time there, so it was good timing.
Wow I saw a different fishing angler today and amazing experience on the lake. I’m so proud seeing you catch your 5 fish bag and make upgrades to your limit. I’ve seen an incredible mood change of attitude from your performance.I know you have been through some crazy stuff that would defeat most people, but you kept pushing yourself and today this was your day. Tight lines take care and God bless.
Thanks so much! I've been struggling with raising my expectations in fishing and not being good enough to meet that higher bar yet so it gets me down sometimes, but I feel like if I don't aim high what's the point? But this is going to be a great year of learning and improving and maybe even my first fishing trophy if I'm really lucky!
New kayak, new car - great way to start the year. I've had a lot of good luck this spring with the wacky worm (using a weedless hook) - glad to see you stuck to the Senko for this tournament!
Thank you! Good luck to you this year!
Awesome video love your Enthusiasm when your catching and look you did it without electronics that's fishing 🎣 tight lines till the next one!!!
I would like to get them working so I can spend hours looking for a magic offshore rock pile instead of catching fish. 🤣
Thank you! This was a super fun day!
I felt your excitement from one kayak fishing person to another. i think it's alot more exciting catching from a kayak!!
Melissa
It's so nice to have you back in fishing mode and not car mode! I love your relaxing channel! Having fun is what it's all about! Fantastic video Lady. 👍👍🐟🐟
Thank you! :)
I loved watching you kicking ass on this tournament great job.
Thanks, if a below middle of the field finish is kicking butt! 🤣
Congratulations, your day is coming. Congratulations on the new wheels, your hook set looks way better this year as well.
Thanks! I thought it was a pretty good day of hooksets, too! 😎
I enjoy your content and to see you growing as an angler is amazing. Congratulations on your success.
Aw thank you for the kind words!
Wow awesome job! Glad you’re able to get back on the water with no car problems and start catching some fish! Hopefully I’ll be able to get back for June ! Great video!
Thank you! I hope you get back on the water soon!
so much success in this episode! congrats!
Thanks!
This is truly wonderful to see!! You did so, so well and you have every reason to celebrate and be proud Melissa! Way to go!!🎣🎣🎣
Thanks so much, Albert! It was a fun day!
So happy for your day
Thanks, Bryan! It was a fun day!
Catching fish is great. Good video, lots of inthusiam.
Thanks! It was really a fun day!
Nicely done. That's how you become a smarter angler and get better at decision making. Once you have a bait and pattern, go back to the areas you previously worked through as well.
Thanks! It is so great to feel some improvement again. After two years of rapid improvement I kind of plateaued last year and it was frustrating. But I think everything just needed time to sink in and now I’m back to learning!
Thanks for taking us along and glad you had fun.
Thank you! :)
Congratulations, great job, a good day of fishing
Thanks!
Great job, Melissa!
Thanks! :)
Great job. 👏 I am ready to do that. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you! :)
Awesome video, hope you win one of these tournaments, you deserve it.
Thank you!
Congrats, nice ride! I used to fish Brookville a lot it's a cool lake. I could never be consistent there though. Some days I'd do good & some I'd get skunked. Shad spawn is on down here in SC
Thanks! Yeah I was surprised the spot that was super good last time produced nothing this time. I finally have history on a lake and it’s a dud! 🤣
Way to go
Thank you!
awesome episode thank you.
Thanks! :)
Great video. Glad u had a great tournament
Thank you!
GREAT JOB
Thanks!
Superb! Some really nice hook setting.
Hahaha thanks! I've been watching Major League Fishing and was doing my interpretation of those guys setting a hook... but it is a little harder to lean into a 10 inch bass versus the big ones they catch! 🤣
@@GirlGoneFishing Haha! Right!
Great job
Thanks!
Nice job!
Thanks! :)
Freaking awesome! Nice work 😁 I caught my first limit in a tournament a couple of weeks ago (3) but I wasn't able to cull any. You did something I am not good at and I would be interested in learning your thought process. You switched lures pretty quickly at the start and I often don't. I never know if they don't want what I have or if they do and I just haven't located them. How do you determine when to make a switch?
Thanks! I’m not great at adjusting yet but what I try to think is right away you have to figure out if they want a moving bait or if it is going to be a slow finesse day. So I start with topwater, crankbait, chatterbait, maybe spinnerbait, and throw those while covering water for maybe an hour, mixing in something like a weightless fluke or senko, or a ned rig trd, or a texas rigged big trd or senko, when you get to good looking targets to cast to. After that hour I hopefully have had a few bites that tell me what the fish want and I go with that. More likely I haven’t had any bites, am completely confused and start fishing too fast out of frustration. 🤣 But basically what I think you are doing at the start of the day is gathering information by trying different lures more than just “going fishing”, at least that is the way I’m starting to see it. Is that what you meant? If not, sorry for rambling! :)
@@GirlGoneFishing thank you very much for the details, you are busy and I appreciate you taking time to help. I'm intrigued by the idea of trying to find what they want rather than "going fishing". I get discouraged if after a couple of hours I don't have anything. And I'll keep throwing the same lure convinced they want it but I just haven't found them yet. I've got to get better about doing what you've described. Thanks again.
nice video. what a neat lake, or stream... one thing i've never figured out, melissa, is you people on boats, toss right into great spots right off shore. but what about the noise, disturbance, of your bait plopping in the water? is that an issue? as a banrk beater, i've wondered about that. i felt bankers have an advantage cause i cast past where i want, and reel in. but --- you have much more experience fishing than i do, to be frank. hence my question... gl with the subaru!
Well, the goal is to be able to cast without making any noise on entry, but some of us are still working on that! 🤣 In my experience in clear water, I've watched bass bolt off when the lure splashes down but then come right back to investigate, so making a splash doesn't rule out a bite but it does make it a little less likely!
ty for the reply, and here's to quieter splashes..... good luck in the upcoming tournaments!
And purple hair
I redo it about twice a year and let it fade out to pink.
@@GirlGoneFishing you better get sleep
What the heck.. is that really at Brookville? There aren't 4' waves like EVERY day in Indiana/Ohio....u must have got lucky to get the 1 day a year there isn't 30+ mph winds
🤣 it was a rare beautiful tournament day!
Hi Melissa been watching all your videos, they are wonderful, regards Danny 🐟💦💦💦
Thank you!
