I remember when my mom forced me to go into a Christian church, I was really uncomfortable that time, seeing people and calling them weirdos just because their hands were lifted and their eyes flowing with tears. I said to my mom that I will never ever ever go back to that church, but really God is good. It was Mothers' day when my mother asked me if I can just grant her wish, which is to go back to that church, with me. I said yes. The moment the worship team started the service, I don't know why both of my knees got weak, and both of my eyes shed tears.. God is really great.. all you have to do is to accept Him and let Him enter your heart. I love You JESUS! You're the BEST!
It's amazing how God will use our families to bring us back in subtle ways! I went back to church because it was the only time I could see my grandparents and parents because all of us were so busy with activities. I didn't go back for God and I had no intention of being drawn back into the faith but it ended up being God's amazing way to draw me to him. Two months later and now I'm doing daily devotions, I have a christian radio station back on, I'm involved with leading the Youth Group, and so much more! The peace and strength that I feel now is astounding! Praise God for family and praise God for the subtle ways he works in peoples lives!!

I was dropping my friend off at her house last night and she noticed there was no music playing in the car. She asked me if I had any music in my phone and I told her, Yeah, but I only have Christian music," knowing that she isn't a Christian. She told me to throw it on anyway. So I played Alive (by Y&F) followed by this song and she instantly fell in love with both songs. She couldn't believe that she was listening to "Christian" music; she had the misconception that the music that I listen to was all "boring, chanting-hallelujah-type-of-stuff". I told her I'm not so sure about the "boring" part but I do sing hallelujah... Anyway, I just wanted to say that this music presented me with the opportunity to have a conversation about Jesus and church with her and she was very surprised and enthused with what I had to say; that we are ALL sinners and are nothing without Jesus.
I just want to say that it's important that Hillsong and other artists are trying new styles in their music. Sure, people complain that their styles as of late have been copying a lot of the popular/main-stream genres, but I say nay to such critiques - this style of music allowed me to talk to my friend about Jesus... so it's doing its job.
That's so amazing! I agree, it's reaching the lost which is what we should strive for! Not only that but it's also made a big impact on my life... I've been a Christian ever since I was like 3-4... accepted Christ at 4 but I never knew what it was truly like to be a follower of Christ. I do now, but there are many things to come... God bless

My jaw has been on the floor while my face has been covered in tears. This song COMPLETELY speaks to what my mindset was during my cancer battle (which THANK GOD! I am now cancer free). I couldn't have said it any better than this song. No matter how scared (more than I've ever been), how much pain (the worst I've ever felt), how yucky (for lack of a better word) chemo made me feel...I could praise God. I can honestly say that I never once asked "Why Me?" He was and is with me every step of the way -- from an EARLY diagnosis of triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma (pretty "nasty" & fast moving snake is how my breast cancer was described to me) to all the surgeries after (ovarian, chemo port put in, double mastectomies with immediate reconstruction). I am so glad to have found this song. Seriously...cannot even wrap my mind around how PERFECTLY this fits me.

This song is still “hitting” even in ‘2024’
I just recently defeated cancer then soon after I found out that my wife was having an affair. My life in the past year has literally turned up side down. I have never felt so hopeless in all my years on this earth. When I heard this song for the first time I broke down and weeped. I was reminded to sing his praises in the good times and the bad. No matter how dark the night gets he deserves my all. My wife and I have are now back together and all I can do is praise God for how good he is. I am truly humbled.
Keep on fighting when the devil knows yout one step ahead he'll always try to bring you two steps back.Prove him wrong and show God how courageous you are.That your not just praising him when times are good but even in the hard times.God has plans to prosper you not to harm you.So no matter what always serve God and don't lose sight of what God has for you.May You have a blessed day.

Yes Hafez, prayer is the most effective action to take in any situation. 2 Corinthians 2:16 states, "I have the mind of Christ." Now we have to ask ourselves what type of mind did Jesus have? Jesus was not depressed, he was and is full of love, Galations 5:22/23 the fruits of the Holy Spirit are: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; these are the characteristics God has for you. Declare it with your mouth, anytime you are feeling bad declare 'I have the mind of Chirst' declare 'I have a spirit of joy and peace' this is what God wants for you, your sicknesses were taken away when Jesus died on the Cross aswell as your sins. So declare this depression to be gone, that it does not belong to you.

This song speaks so much to my heart. It's crazy how people "expect" christian to face things just because we have Jesus doesn't mean we don't feel pain it is our ability to lift our hands and praise God in the midst of death, depression, cancer, whatever we face we can praise God because we know "all things work together for those who love the Lord" (rom8v28) When this song says even when it hurts like hell i remember the day i found my six month old unresponsive and not breathing in his crib thankfully i knew CPR from being an infant teacher he started to breath and rushed him to the hospital during some of the testing (which i was not allowed to be in the room for) i went to the chapel and hit my knees and cried out to God but i praised Him because i knew He has a prefect plan for my and Eli (my son). Turns out he had a seizure which caused him to stop breathing but I am thankful because He will be two in July and hasn't had any other episodes. Even when it hurts like hell and we praise him all things do work together for our good.

We are in the exact same situation. Except mine was for my mom's funeral 2 weeks ago. It hurts like hell, but I know God has a greater plan for all the things that are happening. We just have to keep our faith strong and trust Him. :)

I am native romanian speaker, but i learned english language from a young age, in my opinion this whole thing with cussing has nothing to do with cussing at all. They use "Hurts like hell" like a a figure of speech not a cuss. Hell is a word, not a cuss, that appears in Bible so many many times. It supposed to say that living on this earth and going through all the daily struggles with everything that happens around us, this earth is full of sin and mud, and it does hurt like hell. Why not take the song as it is meant to be, and always criticize?? to all the ones that are criticizing this, i suggest to you to try and write a song sometimes, and share it with us here :) God bless!

Nothing can separate us from the love of God, but it's from the fleshy point of view of self that we can't imagine finding redemption... And yes we don't deserve it, that's where Jesus comes in... It's not about you but about Him and what He did on the cross... Just repent and freely receive the gift of Salvation again. God didn't send Jesus to CONDEMN but to save. Condemnation focuses on nothing specific and just paints a false picture of worthlessness. God hates sin but always loves you. Lord I pray you remove the mask of guilt. I would super appreciate some prayers right now. I grew up in a Christian family but I didn't really understand God's love until a year ago. He has done so much for me and has changed my life completely. But there's a sin that I still keep going back to and I can't seem to get rid of it. It would mean a lot to me if someone could just pray for healing and release from this sin. Thank you and God bless.
I know I will get a lot of slack for this but as the people of God we need not to minimize who God is and the power of His word. I love Hillsong's music and will continue to support but the phrase "even when it hurts like hell" didn't sit well with me. Coming from my past it sounded like profanity and I know now days people use the word Hell so freely. In short whether it's a normal phrase or "keeping it real" there could have been an alternative word used. Hell is a place of torment with no reconciliation. There's no coming back to God. It is a place of eternal damnation. There is no hell on earth because we can always come to God. In hell there is no coming to God. Do bad and horrible things happen yes. Let's not confuse that with eternal torment and damnation. My thoughts only. Be encouraged people of God

Exactly. Having that phrase is just another subconscious roadblock for people who are looking to come to God. We've all met that one person who's hesitant of coming to God because of the wrong doings he's done. Having any phrase that incites hell on earth just destroys the bibles message that you are not in hell yet if you are still alive and that you can still be accepted into Gods Kingdom.

I agree 100% on that and cannot stand foul language. However, when this was written they did not include that to use profanity. When people talk of going through hell, they are speaking of the ACTUAL place. The actual demons and torment or set traps that satan has laid for them. Walking through that and surviving with God's divine hands upon them. So all of these people saying that they were showing its okay to curse when you are going through a lot are not representing the right interpretation of what they meant in the song. Just when your heart is hurting like it has been through hell and back again, God still deserves every once of our praise. ❤️❤️❤️

My teacher passed away yesterday, and unfortunately the death was suicide. He was an incredibly inspirational person who always smiled and constantly encouraged others. He was a christian, but it's unimaginable to think what he must've been going through to reach the point of feeling like taking his own life. I felt numb all morning, trying to distract myself from the pain. But I truly feel that this song speaks measures and really hits a chord in me. Please pray for his family, wife, kids, and our students who are mourning over his death.

My father left for the cold war in 1986. While he was in Germany he got stabbed in the back of the head, and ended up in a coma. There was a microchip implanted behind his left ear when he was in the coma. This has ruined his life and greatly impacted mine as his son. Through this God revealed himself to me and I got saved in March of 2014. God has done so much for me and I know he is going to heal my dad. If anyone reads this please Pray for him his name Brian.

Aight so this song is absolutely amazing. You know what makes me mad? Everyone is freaking out because it says "Even when it hurt like hell" People dont realize that 1). Thats not a cuss word. 2). Stuff really does hurt that bad and sometimes thats the only way to express it.I personally love the fact that Taya is brave enough to say that in a worship song. i recently broke up with my boyfriend because he refused to believe in Christ. So many values didn't match and the only thing that sustained us was the fact that we love each other very much. but even love.... when he doesn't understand the deepest desire and lover of my soul jesus christ, i have realized that it doesnt' matter. it hurts...... i had to walk away from him and it really really hurts right now. thinking maybe i will never find a godly husband or thinking that i will forever be single....a lot of doubts and fear talking right now but even in this pain, i choose hope and i choose to praise him.....hallelujah Jesus is still king over my life.

I love that to pieces and I feel that is an accurate way to explain how we feel sometimes. It hurts like hell. There's no other way to explain it sometimes. I personally don't think it's a bad thing. I think that is a real and true feeling.
