My daughter (a Gen Z) once told me "your generation has the highest number of broken relationships and marriages". Gen Z have largely been raised by Gen X. Millennials will raise the Alpha Gen. Anyway, growing up as a Gen X, I think we also saw our mothers being battered, tortured and so forth, and we swore never to go through the same with our spouses. Gen X is the first generation with really independent women (more educated and having jobs) - this created a big problem because their male counterparts were not yet prepared for these 'liberal' women, who can dare leave their matrimonial homes? I believe this might have contributed to the brutal anger and murder. Gen Z has to change this narrative, that men can also be open about their emotions and fears, this can only bring understanding and healing. Great show.
Mental health is such an ignored topic. The first step is talking about it, he is so brave and on the right track towards working on his trauma. Also, yeey... once in a while the justice system proves us wrong.

Isaac demonstrates love for his mother, fairness even to his father, doing the right thing and justice being served even if blood relatives are in the wrong. I was totally flabbergasted that his mom endured such pain with someone she once nursed back to good health. I can't identify with abusive situations. In relationships we must focus on our safety above all else as death is final and some partners rather kill their spouses rather than see them walk away alive. Kudos to Isaac for being brave in the face of his father's family disowning him. I trust he continues being courageous in the future when his father's trial begins. Isaac's mom has left him an everlasting legacy through the life she has lived and the way she treated others - her patients, work colleagues and friend. Issac can take a memory of good times shared with his mom and refresh it each day. God's goodness will continue to manifest positivity in Isaac's life. How do we support these men who have faced life changing events and have serious mental issues and have now gone into drugs? 2. How do you support them and encourage them to go for therapy and help them recover ?
A very very important subject/ topic---- I lost my brother through trauma and the ideology of kaa ngumu as his wife mistreated him!... Now I tell my loved ones my friends - Speak Up! You are Humans! Speak Up and Speak Loud ... trauma is completely unacceptable. Seek the Lord's guidance .. Lean on Him.. AND Speak Up!
Plus Never be silenced by your circles/ friends/ family/ colleagues because at the end of the day -- Remember They are NOT IN YOUR SHOES to endure the trauma .. So SPEAK UP

Am happy that the murderer is arrested and am hopeful justice will be served accordingly for Lydia . Issack fighting for your mom will eventually give you a peace of mind that your mom didn’t just end up as statistics. Am a mother of one and you talking of being a only child makes me feel kinda emotionally for you and my son, feels like it’s you against the world 🌍 . When my son was 11 yrs old he told me that boys don’t cry, He told me that he is supposed to hold in the pain and if he gets a headache 🤕, then take a pain med. My attempts to redirect his opinion was not successful coz this notion had already been installed in him by the society. Men are human beings with all sensations and emotions, of which all serve purpose in their wellbeing. Issack utilize all therapy for your wellbeing. I have always followed you and u are the only person who feels peoples needs from deep down within. I wanna tell it just doesn’t come it is a gift from God! I am a nurse in texas suffering from depression, suicidal, last month i had to be flown to the hospital after i tried to commit suicide. Am free from suicidal thoughts and i want the word to know depression hurts very painful! i love u my sister hope one day we shall meet!

One of the best type of Therapy to deal with loss is writing a letter to the person lost. There are different types of loss (painful) death, someone walking out of your life, a job, business etc. We are all affected differently. In your own time and when ready please write as many letters to your mum and while at it be sure to have a box of tissues because you will need it. When it's difficult to forgive ourselves and others even as we pray, writing what we would tell the other person were they present works wonders. May our good Lord give you peace and guide you!
This is a vital discussion you guys are having here, it's very deep, we need such conversations that impact lives in our African society. I'm a Zimbabwean living in SA and suicide in SA has become a norm, especially among men. This is an African issue that needs to be addressed, seriously.

I listened to the initial story and Isaac came across as very brave person. Domestic Abuse is a serious issue and should not be brushed under the carpet. Never be coerced into silence by anyone. I’m glad justice has prevailed
Isaac,the fact that you have spoken about your triggers is brilliant and the start of recovery combined with therapy. When someone breaks down it impacts on their mental health.
What Isaac shared is intergenerational trauma. Men need honest conversations and safe spaces to open up. A trauma informed care lens is needed when addressing trauma. It's a process and healing begins by talking. I have learnt a lot by attending the biology of trauma webinar.

Good job Lynn. Glad that he got justice 😌. While watching Isaac's story i realised that I knew his father from back then because took most of our birthday photos when we were young (early 2000s). I am truly in shock 😰 that he can be such a terrible person to have the audacity to think he can take someone's life. May God continue healing you and I encourage you to continue with therapy. One of the best type of Therapy to deal with loss is writing a letter to the person lost.
There are different types of loss (painful)
death, someone walking out of your life, a job, business etc. We are all affected differently.
In your own time and when ready please write as many letters to your mum and while at it be sure to have a box of tissues because you will need it.
When it's difficult to forgive ourselves and others even as we pray, writing what we would tell the other person were they present works wonders.

What Isaac shared is intergenerational trauma. Men need honest conversations and safe spaces to open up. A trauma informed care lens is needed when addressing trauma. It's a process and healing begins by talking. I have learnt a lot by attending the biology of trauma webinar.
