Good points. Very important to me is finding the right balance between the difficulty of putting stuff back, vs being able to quickly finding the part you want. Having TOO many categories is just as detrimental to your fun as having too few.

Very true. Some of that is coming up with a system that makes sense to you and your own brain lol Thanks for watching!

I agree that sorting into broader categories first and only later sorting into more specialized categories (or color) makes a lot of sense, that's what I also try to do with my Lego collection!

Great video👍 I learnt a lot from the points that you made and it is good that you include options for everyone because my Lego collection is not quite big enough for the small compartments and too big for big categories. So I used the 9 categories first and sorted that into some other categories of my own. Thanks

Honestly Organizing is going to be different for every person depending on the types of sets you get. You may end up with a ton of one piece type, but like 1-3 of others, so just devoting an entire slot to 3 pieces would be a waste. However, it also depends on the types of MOC Building you're into. For small parts, I would suggest looking into Jewelry/Bead Organizers though, just decide if you want Desk Organizers or Case Styles that can be stowed in a Cabinet for those small parts. Also don't be afraid to lookup some Cabinetry videos online, and build a cabinet yourself, since you might already have a builder's mindset...

@@BenjBuilds thanks! I'm moving into selling parts from primarily sets and i'm not finding affordable organizers. My concern with the DIY approach is having drawer 'stoppers', 'separators' and handles, as convenience and efficiency is key. Do you miss having these?

I haven't got a huge amount of pieces, so I've got 16 tiny boxes which are sorted by colour for the small pieces, and anything larger than a 2x2 all gets put in 1 container

Fixwal 26pcs Clear Drawer Organizers Set. Looks like they’re sold out on Amazon, but there are a million different clear drawer organizer sets you can buy. I would just go by best price/reviews
