Love that you guys keep making such stellar products; I've been using (and abusing) a medium modmat as my soldering work mat for years now, so this is perfect for me, and should extend the life of my modmat!

I have a couple silicone mats of various sizes. The design of this one actually addresses *several* issues I've had using them to do console modding. I instantly bought 2 (you sold me the second one by showing it being used for gunpla building, so shoutouts to the crew member whose idea that was).

@@Voyajer. that's the only reason for the question, most modelling glues melt plastics together and are interesting what they can do to unsuspecting surfaces. Am certainly hopeful that it has a negligent if any effect on the silicone surface. There are a few "hotter" glues than the Tamiya XT, and would be willing to do further testing on my own purchased mat. There's just no reason to go too far if it's already a known problem. Looks like typical cyanoacrylate glues would be fine, but they are a very different chemistry. So, thought I'd ask 👍😁

@@RedOneM it likely is rolled up, like their other mats. Shipping isn't inexpensive these days, though, except for small and light items. $20 for a 5lb box within the U.S. is reasonable.

My modmat has been an excellent work surface the past year or so for all my soldering/assembly/prototyping work, and it's held up really well despite all the heatgunning, falling solder blobs, etc I will definitely be grabbing one of these for when I eventually have a dedicated PCB assembly/rework desk in my next apartment!
Ive had your large antistatic mat for years, its withstood years of soldering/game console restoration work like a damn champ and i see it going for a very long time, was desperately hoping you guys would release a soldering mat because all the mats on the market just do not hold up against my CBT level work i put them through lol. I look forward to picking this up the second my financial situation allows lol.

You know, it might sound odd, but this looks like a damn fine surface for those who are into tabletop wargaming like warhammer 40k as a project mat for building and painting models. All the organization and even points to hold things like brushes as well as a surface that might even fair well against model cement looks like it'd be quite the nicely functional setup. I assume a question others have asked already but just in case, are any other colors of the mat planned? I'd assume a good color option would be clean white that would provide a great contrast background for small parts and the like for people who tinker or fix things like phones and other small devices. Blue is pretty good but of course white in that use case would be hard to beat.
Great point on the Warhammer models, painting, etc! Patrick was using it internally for a Gundam model build the other day. As for other colors, none planned right now!

Man, I was just thinking "wow, I really wish I had an 800x400mm soldering mat, that's about all the space I have if I move my mouse and keyboard from my desk station and use my main monitor as a microscope display", and then I see this video. No seriously, I literally need one almost exactly that size, it will fit perfectly on top of my LTT 900x400mm deskpad without having to shove the corners under my compressible foam speaker risers like I did on it. I watched this video before work today and thought about getting it or not the whole time. Finally decided to go through with it once I got home. I'm not sure if they are using a luxury car to deliver each order point to point, but $20 shipping is absolutely outrageous. I can't think of anytime in my life I've tried to order something and shipping was an additional %40 price increase, and I have made many orders of special edition books from the UK, mainly France. It's usually the same price plus $8 for tracked shipping. Sorry GN, I can't help support here.
For those of us who deal with desks and not workbenches, I'd love to see a 10x12 or 12x16 version of this. Simply the work surface with the roll stopper lip would be great.
This is making me consider building my car ECU instead of getting a plud & play unit for the future. If I go this route, I promise I'll send you footage of your mat being used for car parts.

This is awesome! Gonna get me one of those. I have the Mod mat and I use it for my DIY stuff. Incidentally, when you flop the mod mat to the black side, with some cleaning makes an excellent rubberised tabletop game mat to play games on! I really like the compartments on this new one though. Whelp picked one up as well as finally snagging a mod mat since my job has changed and I no longer have easy access to and ESD safe surface. For those wondering both of these products are not only competitive to professional products but in many cases are better than them!

Whelp picked one up as well as finally snagging a mod mat since my job has changed and I no longer have easy access to and ESD safe surface.
For those wondering both of these products are not only competitive to professional products but in many cases are better than them!
I was just looking into buying one of these. This is larger than the ones I was looking at; and that's great. They're often ~$20 individually and I was looking at getting 2 of them. Thanks for providing such a product to the community.

I have a small mat because I usually don’t have much space to work. But if I ever get a bigger workbench setup I’m definitely picking one of these up.

I love that you mentioned building Gundam models as one of its uses.
So I have a random cheapo smaller silicon work-mat and this absolutely addresses all of my gripes I've had so far.
Might consider getting this one as someone who does repairs all the time
