Thank you Jan J...of Denver Colorado.... I remember you well with love and affection. If you are reading this.... I never stopped loving you. Never will. Always: Steve.
I love Janis Joplin, and this is a hit that I keep coming back to. I completely agree with you that this is so much more authentic, pure-raw-talent, and far less computerized music that I absolutely love, as a 29 year old Millenial who grew up listening to 50s, 60s, and 70s music. However, this music IS synthesized, it IS multi-tracked, it IS mixed, I'm sad to say it myself. Not a lot, but at least a little bit, as all music was even back then, which we know and which no one has ever questioned or refuted, certainly none of the studios or music artists themselves who were the talent of the 60s. With Janis Joplin, who wanted as little mixing as possible, this is among the most authentic, real pure-raw- talent as anything recorded at the time. But hey, one can take solace in the fact that technology in the 60s and throughout the 70s was not anything near what it is today, and it wasn't even remotely close to the capabilities of what current synthesizers and mixers have sadly done to today's music, which just sounds like incomprehensible noise.

It’s been over 50 years and Janis is still relevant. People still compare other artists voices to Joplin. The truth is that there is ONLY ONE Janis Joplin! Legendary!
I saw in 1969..with Big Brother and The Holding Co. and she was incredible..she shook stomped the stage..with southern comfort by her side..they delivered..she had soul to the core.
My dad had this album. I was 6 or 7. I remember giggling at the cover because I thought she looked funny. And then I heard this song. Janis' voice tore through my soul. 50 years later, it still does.
All hail the Queen of rock and roll, the mighty Janis Joplin. As much as I love Stevie Nicks and Pat Benatar, Janis was and always will be on a completely different level, her voice and her stage presence were one of a kind. Unfortunately we may never see a singer like her again but at least we'll always have the memories.
It's said when she first performed, people, mostly men, would stare in disbelief, their mouths open at how incredibly powerful her voice sang. One of the most unique voices ever. RIP
And one person who was blown away by Janice Joplin, is Stevie Nicks. She once said in an interview, that she wanted that power to hold her fans spellbound, like Janice did.
Janis was a one and only singer there will never be anyone else like her. And not just her singing but how authentic she was. She was real and real. She had a love for her fans never pushing them away.
Im 64 years young. My brothers wife turned me onto Janic at the age of 10. I absolutely love her voice. RIP Hope you are singing in heaven with all the other great musical artists there❤
Oh, my, how that woman could wail! Raw, ragged, and wonderful! Hope she's found all the pieces of her broken heart in the rock-and-roll section of heaven! R.I.P Pearl.
Being an (recovering) heroin addict as well I think she understood her own pain well enough to communicate it, and maybe even cope with it, through beautiful music. Music sure helped me more with pain than all the drugs in the world ever could.
@@ryanspencerlauderdale687 There was a "country" version of this in the 90's 2000's. Many black women did the same genre of music and the same. A specific voice rang. She copied off of. Believe me there were many of course she got Actually it's because she was a white or Jewish girl singing it. But yes, I love her she did great. No one else does justice to this song. She was one hell of a unique person, it is a shame that her passion was cut short and we were deprived of all her other masterpieces. Her music is divine, I could listen to her all night.
I was born in 58, 66 now but I never really got to get to know her music as she passed away in 1970. I'm listening to her now though. Such a great talent just my type of tough rough singing voice. She'll always be remembered ❤
She killed it with her voice. A beautiful singer gone way to soon left us way to early, RIP Janis. She is taking pieces of everyone else's hearts up above us. We still luv listening to you.💖💖
Fun Fact: Stephen King wrote a short story in which Janis is still alive and living off the grid in a little town in Oregon along with Jerry Garcia and Jimmy Hendrix. Interesting concept.
I wonder if she realized what an icon she actually was that here in the year 2024 that we still love her music. And it will be around for more years to come.
What can I say we're all just lucky to be alive these days especially in the 70s if you lived through those 80's and 90's when I think you're doing pretty good❤😂
Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man? Yeah And didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can? Honey, you know I did And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I've had enough But I'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it Take another little piece of my heart now, baby (whoa, break it) Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah (whoa, have a) Have another little piece of my heart now, baby You know you got it if it makes you feel good Oh, yes indeed You're out on the streets looking good And baby, deep down in your heart, I guess you know that it ain't right Never, never, never, never, never, never hear me when I cry at night Babe, and I cry all the time But each time I tell myself that I, well I can't stand the pain But when you hold me in your arms, I'll sing it once again I said come on, come on, come on, come on and take it Take another little piece of my heart now, baby Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah Have another little piece of my heart now, baby Well, you know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it Take another little piece of my heart now, baby (whoa, break it) Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, c'mon now (whoa, have a) Have another little piece of my heart now, baby You know you got it, whoa Take it Take another little piece of my heart now, baby (whoa, break it) Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (whoa, have a) Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, hey You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good
Even after all these years, this woman can still reach into my guts and just wrench em into a knot…can you FEEL that raw emotion she puts out? I can only imagine what it would be like to be right there live… such a powerful, painful 🎶 melody…where’s the Kleenex? Rest In Peace, Angel lady…. The world is not the same without you in it. Janis was born about 2 years before me. When she became a big hit, I was not all that into her. Today, she is a goddess to me. Taken to soon, loved not enough.
My mom sent me Mercedes Benz so I figured I listen to more Janis. Me and my homie made glass pipes in college and we listened to Hendrix and Zeppelin Bootlegs a lot. We were smoking pot all the time and tripping shrooms so we liked really trippy music.
I’ve heard of Janis Joplin but I’d never heard her voice until now and WOW 🤩 instant fan here. My mom always said Janis couldn’t sing and just “screamed”. I should’ve known better.
I once saw a video of Janis on stage singing with Led Zeppelin. She was fantastic and looked like she was really feeling it too. I'm glad she was here and left her voice with us.

I'm 16 years old and I'm already a fan of hers even though she's been dead for years
Teach your children, @@maxDmz97
How nice of you to judge all the kids in the world...
That is some damn good old school rock and roll from the late 60s it's a damn shame we don't make music like that anymore
One of the most soulful Blues singer ever , RIP Janis .
Ok so
Folk blues ron n roll indie soul janis is all!!!!
A great singer,RIP,Janice Joplin
I was born in 58, 66 now but I never really got to get to know her music as she passed away in 1970. I'm listening to her now though. Such a great talent just my type of tough rough singing voice. She'll always be remembered ❤
Often imitated....but never equaled! She was amazing. Still listening, still enjoying, still wanting more.
This masterpiece made me order a Janis Joplin vinyl today!
She killed it with her voice. A beautiful singer gone way to soon left us way to early, RIP Janis. She is taking pieces of everyone else's hearts up above us. We still luv listening to you.💖💖
We do xx
Drugs and alcohol destroyed her
@@abbasilvernight I know but when your in the industry who doesn't it destroy did take away her talent.
I know. I feel like crying. She was just getting started and I wish she could know that she is still being listened to and loved.
@@tancha70 And back then, wasn’t everyone pretty much using drugs ?
She took a piece of all our hearts 😢
This honestly makes you want to stand and sing your heart out. Stay safe everyone. We'll beat this.
William Mcphee shut up anarchist slime
If people really knew her life & what she went through...her life was so so......
Right on Reeccy !!!
I am not sure of how to respond to the exact person.... but Reecy took the words from my mouth.
It was just a cold and now its over
How could anyone not appreciate this iconic singer. What a voice and everything else to go with it. Love her !!!
She was legendary! She had more soul in her baby finger than most singers will ever have!
the older I get the more I appreciate janices voice. so unique and god could she belt !
rest in power !
I’ve never listened to this artist before, and her voice is so powerful. brings a tear to my eye
Watch the performance her
And Tom JONES did together.
She is better in the song than him. He can't keep up with
Janis.
@@robertmessina6962 That's saying a lot because Tom Jones has one of the greatest voices in pop history.
@@austinteutsch what I mean is...he can sing incredibly good
But in this performance
Janis has real soul that
He can't seem to match
She has that effect, a individual talent that can not be copied. I only found Janis two years ago, I’m 45😂😍
@@robertmessina6962 indeed, he was blown away and admitted that later
Janis is a legend noone can sing as good as her i was a baby when she came out my older siblings got me into her i love her to this day RIP janis
Fun Fact: Stephen King wrote a short story in which Janis is still alive and living off the grid in a little town in Oregon along with Jerry Garcia and Jimmy Hendrix. Interesting concept.
They regularly travel into Vancouver and banff.
:)
Definitely
Would be GREAT if it were true .GOSH WE WISH A....
Really...wow..missed that ..whats it called pls😲
I wonder if she realized what an icon she actually was that here in the year 2024 that we still love her music. And it will be around for more years to come.
What can I say we're all just lucky to be alive these days especially in the 70s if you lived through those 80's and 90's when I think you're doing pretty good❤😂
Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on
Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man? Yeah
And didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can?
Honey, you know I did
And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I've had enough
But I'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough
I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby (whoa, break it)
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah (whoa, have a)
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby
You know you got it if it makes you feel good
Oh, yes indeed
You're out on the streets looking good
And baby, deep down in your heart, I guess you know that it ain't right
Never, never, never, never, never, never hear me when I cry at night
Babe, and I cry all the time
But each time I tell myself that I, well I can't stand the pain
But when you hold me in your arms, I'll sing it once again
I said come on, come on, come on, come on and take it
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby
Well, you know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good
I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby (whoa, break it)
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, c'mon now (whoa, have a)
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby
You know you got it, whoa
Take it
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby (whoa, break it)
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (whoa, have a)
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby, hey
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good
Thanks!
Janis was one of the reasons I wanted to go to Haight Ashbury! Never got there! Wanted to go to Woodstock! Didn't get there either!
@@lizdevich7192 one day, youll go where she is. For sure.
The GOAT 💯💯💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️
Her and Amy are the only two that ever made me feel sorrow and trauma when I listen to them. Such raw and hurt energy.
the most underrated performers ever. That gravel like voice very few have been able to match it in my opinion the closest being pink
God, when I'm hurting why do I forget to come back to Janis??? This is a tonic for a wounded heart.
RIP To Janis Joplin This song is awesome Janis Joplin did very well on this song
This is the first time I've ever heard her music, and God am I glad.
I'm glad you did too. Janis Joplin and Robert Plant Best forever.

I'M 13 AND I LOVE JANIS!!! SHE'S FANTASTIC AND TALENTED!!!
Listen to some Bowie and Queen too
That’s true 🌹❤️⭐️
Being a certain age and liking popular singers from back in the day doesn't make you interesting or unique. Get over it.
You have great taste!
Smart kid
Her words and the way she makes you feel them is timeless.... live on baby you were here way too short ❤
God bless you Janice! ♥️🙏
There are two types of singers in the world... Janis Joplin and everybody else.
Exacxtly!
She is unique.
Well said!
You Said That Right 😘
@@tinanash5758 Thank you, Tina! 😊 I had the pleasure of seeing Janis perform with Big Brother in Baltimore - a memorable and unforgettable experience. There will never, never be another Janis. I sincerely hope she's Up There jamin' with Jimi.
Can you imagine? Talk about a Combination of the Two....! 👍
Best Wishes,

Janis was born about 2 years before me. When she became a big hit, I was not all that into her. Today, she is a goddess to me. Taken to soon, loved not enough.
My mom sent me Mercedes Benz so I figured I listen to more Janis. Me and my homie made glass pipes in college and we listened to Hendrix and Zeppelin Bootlegs a lot. We were smoking pot all the time and tripping shrooms so we liked really trippy music.
She's not gone. I still her voice in the wind. Singing to the true hearted..
I’ve heard of Janis Joplin but I’d never heard her voice until now and WOW 🤩 instant fan here. My mom always said Janis couldn’t sing and just “screamed”. I should’ve known better.
When I was about 12 she was very popular, and whenever she was on tv my Mom would yell my name so we could watch together. ✌🏼🕊
My mother in law couldn't stand her. So I knew that she just be great!
She sang with both passion and pain..no one will ever be like her
But she screamed so perfectly...
Clearly your Mom doesn't know anything about music this is definitely the best female rock artist ever you should get your mom hip 2 what's going on
She was so sad, but she sure could put that heartache into each and every song she sang.
That 27 year old club has WAY TO MANY greats in it . Janis being one of many !! 🤘✝️🙏😎
I once saw a video of Janis on stage singing with Led Zeppelin. She was fantastic and looked like she was really feeling it too. I'm glad she was here and left her voice with us.
I would love to see this because I don't think it happened
