      So here's the breakdown.. EKX gives you the ETX features at a lower price. The subs are not as powerful as the ETX, but it's a few steps up from the Live-X. If you can't afford the ETX but you want the ETX featureset, the EKX is a good alternative!

      @djteknovibe93 3 года назад

      That's your opinion and nothing more. I've been dj'ing since 1993 and have been a sound engineer since 2002 in my opinion JBL's SRX800 series are far better, they have higher real world spl output, more low frequency impact and unlike the EV's the older series the SRX700 series were used in nightclubs and even outdoor festivals used SRX728 subs. In my opinion and the opinion of many professionals i've talked to Wharfedale Pro's Delta series are the best budget speakers and subs you can buy for their price. The rest of Wharfedale Pro's speaker series are very low budget but the Delta series and newer Delta-X series are amazing for their price. I used to have four Delta 218B dual 18" subs and my god they were amazing and only £690 each. Hell i've heard even professional sound tech guys from the USA who can afford systems costing tens and tens of thousands of dollars say that the Wharfedale Pro Delta 18B and Delta 218B subs are the best budget subs out there.

    This really wasn't a fair comparison because the Yorkville is a horn loaded subwoofer. You should try the comparison again at a distance of 60 ft and 90 ft especially if you are in a large Hall. Horn loaded subwoofers throw the bass further into the room. It is better to use this design outdoors or in gymnasiums.

      @@GearItFirst .. I just watched the video again and from what I understand you're standing about 20 ft away from the speakers operating an SPL meter, after the two tests you talk a little bit about the Yorkville being louder in the higher end but the EV goes lower. I was just merely stating that the Yorkville is a horn loaded sub and the EV is not. Yorkville should have a higher SPL then the EV at a longer distance. The gymnasium should have had a more balanced bass further back. I'm aware that you state it's not a scientific test. I just wanted to make people aware that you are comparing two different types of speakers. That's all.

    Looking at a mid $1200-$1500 to get in a pair, looking for loudness and powerful low frequencies (none of that QSC KW181 high frequency resonance crap). I do mostly dj events (school gyms, large ballrooms, lots of kids and guests at the events). Also considering weight and mobility (I do mobile events and will be moving them around in my SUV alot) Would the JBL SRX818SP or EV ETX18SP be a better choice? I am pretty picky and like the lowest possible frequency performance (low and loud! Low enough to not only hear, but feel it throughout your body, and loud enough to really knock cups off of tables and shake your brains out).

      Daniel Graves 2 ETX 18SP would surpass the output of the Yorkville, there is around a 3db difference between the two cabinets (in the upper frequencies only while below the ETX pulls ahead) & doubling of cabinets as well as the doubling of applied power would yield a 6db gain. So a pair of the ETX-18SP would edge out around 3db in the uppder frequencies & even more in the lower all while sounding better.

      I'm hoping to demo the Yamaha this week. I've heard a lot of people saying they're more impressed by them than the ETX

    I didn't say it was...but neither is The EV ETX18SP. They are both consumer level products. I'm assuming that when you've done live sound, you were using high quality pro gear. You obvious didn't mix a 5 piece or larger band with a DJ mixer. The LS801PB's have there pro's and cons. But I'll assume that when you heard "distortion" out of them, that you were using the correct equipment to mix a band.... provided that we are talking about the same thing here. "Mixing a band live" not a live DJ Event. I'm not busting your chops. I'm only saying that the correct gear yields excellent results. Digital mixing console, speaker management system. Fold back monitors, Line array speaker system. ETC... if we're on 2 different thoughts, we'll professionally have a difference of opinion. I enjoy watching your reviews and appreciate your passion for great products.

      I'm fully aware how to properly mix a band. Still, the Yorkville can't beat the ETX in terms of sound quality. A junk driver vs a custom one from EV! :)
      Thanks for watching!

      Yorkville has 0 dsp, thats why it tends to distort at high volumes

      En una ocasion me tocó alternar en una boda con un grupo de tecladista, traian 2 Yorkville LS801P y 4 de 15" B52, y la verdad esos yorkville sonaban bestial, son de 1500 watts RMS cada uno y todo vibraba cuando sonaban, como tengo equipo de Dj solo llevaba 2 bafles con bociona Celestion FTR de 1000 watts RMS y 2 de 15" eminence, y la diferencia en sonido era bastante apreciable, eso si, iban cobrando como 10 veces lo que yo cobré...

      En comparación de estos dos Subwofer, es mejor Yorkville, tiene bocina b&c que es italiana y la verdad se escucha bestial el sonido, ev tiene gamas mucho muy buenas y en líneas más grandes es mejor, cabe destacar que en el vídeo se compara estos dos modelos y el mejor es Yorkville, saludos!!

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  2 года назад

      Because the company is absolute trash with terrible customer service. The drivers are now a sub quality that have contacts that easily break because they were not made to handle the power that the amp pushes out.

    I have had absolutely no luck with EV I think it’s more talk and for churches but I love Yorkville set up EV is probably one of the worst companies for warranty That I’ve ever dealt with I know some of you guys are going to argue with me but you guys are DJs I do live sound you guys are 3 to 4000 W max I am running 50,000 at the minimum 8000 on stage monitors mix you guys want base take a look at the new LS2100P Yorkville powered sub it blows EV right out of the water

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst  5 лет назад

      1) I do more than just DJ. 2) The moment you used wattage to try to throw your weight around I knew you were full of shit. 3) no true live sound pro uses Yorkville 4) EV does advanced replacement. Yorkville doesn’t.
      Yeah, you’re full of shit honestly.
