Kevin Walter's banging on about wheres the NRL duty of Care, but HE was gunna put him back on the field, wheres his duty of care ?
Ask the team Dr and/or physio. The coach doesn’t make the call on injuries and game time, they manage the players available to them through the 80 minutes.

Just remember “ Any contact to the head, Accident or Not” 🤔
That’s not true 😂

Unless he F-----ed up the shoulder charge.

The result shouldn’t make a difference to the ruling though. The rules are the rules. Can’t just change it depending on the person and what the result is
I think they purposely went out to hurt Reece Walsh. Taylan may made no attempt to dip.
Your a muppet .. the Broncos are the most coddled team in the NRL and have been for years
yeah definitely 100%!!!!! They definitely needed to go out there with the only game plan to hurt Walsh!!! Because Walsh showed Penrith in the grand final they can't beat Brisbane with pretty boy Walsh playing.
OH
WAIT
You think Taylan May meant purposely tried to have a headclash? 🤣 you sound so dumb! If Taylan May dips, his shoulder is hitting walshes face which is the reason he's vertical cos he pulls out last second
I mean that’s the role that some players have - just go out there and hurt their opponents. But he didn’t go out there hoping to have him out for half a season.
Yeah sure. He decided he would go out and charge with his head and hurt himself as well. The nrl is turning fluffy and because it’s the broncos golden child everyone is going mad. Let’s look at at other cases and no one whinging
Shock, not Penrith bending the rules again.

@@sj.m6349 If my club did it we'd get penalised but I digress, I understand protecting halfbacks since they are a bit of a dying breed, although Moses, DCE and Reynolds the other main proper Halfbacks, do not get the protection that the golden boy Cleary does.
@@GunnersEliteYou talking about the same Cleary that got suspended for 5 games for a bad tackle on Dyl Brown and thus made him ineligible for Dally M?

i missed the memo that penrith run the judiciary. Can you link me to the article which discusses when they took over that. Thanks champ. Surely you can find it because surely you wouldn't embarrass yourself by saying something so stupid
@@Enzoh685 Talking about the Cleary that has had people running blocks for him for years that other players get penalised for but because they want to protect him, he always gets away with it. That one.
If you accidentally run a red light and hit someone, you are still responsible.
This is no different, while it’s also
Probably an accident, he is still responsible for his actions.
No one legitimately thinks May deliberately tries to headbutt Walsh, however he had every intention of trying to put a big shot on him and flatten him out (legally). Despite his intention, he fails to do several things such as wrap his arms around Walsh, maintain control of his body by staying grounded, and aiming his shoulder lower than where the ball was first contacted by Walsh. This makes it reckless at best - and when it's reckless, the chance of it being a successful clean tackle reduces dramatically. It doesn't matter about the intention - if he actually tried to do a proper tackle, Walsh wouldn't have a fractured face now.
Also I don't buy all this "it would have been considered a late tackle if he went through with it". Those tackles happen every single game and referees don't punish them unless they are super late.
If one of your favourite team's players was injured due to this recklessness, you'd want the NRL to be stamping it out of the game too.
I agree with you but what do you mean by “aiming his shoulder lower than where the ball was first contacted by Walsh”?
I agree. May should have gone lower, he didn’t, with no mitigating factors. should be charged.
@@scruffy74 Normally they want you to contact the player with your shoulder below where they are holding the ball. Since Walsh just tapped it on, the rule should be to contact below where he tapped it on.
That’s a lot of words to say you have no idea
@@tgibso1so you want him to put himself in an awkward position !? 😂😂 so many idiots out these days

Gordy the master of head slams talking about duty of care ?
Taylan May's tackle technique was illegal on this occasion.
Intentional forceful contact with the head is illegal, but this was not what happened here.
Careless contact with the head (in this case occasioning serious injury) is also illegal.
The expectation is that players will be trained to make defensive contact below the head and neck in every circumstance.
Players have a duty of care, but will act as they are coached..
Coaches have a greater duty of care to ensure players understand what illegal play is..
The game has the ultimate duty of care to protect players from exposure to avoidable injury.
Rational fans expect the game to do everything in it's power to re-direct defenders to avoid "rolling the dice"...
Aim lower... Upright defence that brings potential head clashes into play is inherently careless.
You muppet .. NRL wants players to tackle lower they have to reward the tackler not force a fast play the ball .. you want lower tackles stop letting players wrestle for 60 seconds then off load. Use you Brian I know it's hard but try
So it's a head butt by your reckoning. So May should have been sent off?
May never intended to wrap his hands around Walsh. He jumped when he got closed to Reece. Looks suspicious... No hands wrapped around, meaning he had the intention to blow Reece cause he is the main player pantass are after... Taking him out intentionally n they think they did it. Fxck pants ass
The referees and officials are a bloody mess its causing a lot of issues for teams and fans who pay to subscribe it sucks
If that was Sivo he would've been suspended for the season
Mate idk what team you support but whatever team is good get away with anything they want. The storm from 2006-2020 the roosters for there 2 years of dominance and now the panthers it’s just the refs giving a piggy back to their fav teams
Rules say it’s a careless/wreckless high tackle just not for panthers though lol it’s a joke we all know he should of got sent
What absolute nonsense. For a head clash between two competing players and you're asking for bans and suspensions, yet you had no problem with Nate Myles tackling head first with no arms.
Remind what year Nate Myles was playing
😂 Nate Myles finished playing in 2017.... The game has softened up in the last 7years
Finucane on Crichton was worse because Finucane leads with his head the entire approach. He runs his head through the side of the flat-footed Crighton's earlobe. He never sets for a legitimate tackle, his arm comes swinging around late, and high, after the initial contact with the head. Critta was basically standing still.
May on Walsh was May screaming in for a legitimate tackle, then pulls up at the last second when he realises Walsh has passed the ball. Walsh pulls up last second when he realises there's about to be contact. Both players lift their bodies up, in order to avoid a low clash. In doing so, their chests collide with the velocity that makes their heads bounce together. Body contact, then headclash.
I'd argue they're two different scenarios, based on approach, contact, and intention.
Here's the thing..... If you're RISING into the collision and there's a head knock, you should be getting the full treatment from the judiciary. It's different if the defender held his position.....but he's already fairly high and RISES into the contact..... That should have been an OBVIOUS suspension, period. Whether accidental or not, that's not only poor form, it's extremely dangerous, as we've just seen. That's a straight suspension. This double standard in enforcing rules is why people are giving up on watching the sport..... I went from watching all games, to just my team, to just highlights, and now barely even watch that. They're destroying the game .....
The head-clash issue has already been solved in union. Immediate red card.
Agree. Any head injury regardless of intention or not ... red card. This will help ensure players will do more to avoid head injuries of opponent players
Well what happens if cleary doesn't kick and decides to run? Mitch Kenny puts himself in position to be a support runner on the inside.
In both instances it wouldn't have been an issue if they went in shoulders aiming below the chest. They went in to high and should of been penalized for it
Yes, it was an accidental head clash but also, Taylan May has so much time to lower his tackle zone to avoid any contact with the head as he ran from a fair distance to try and jam in and make sure he doesn't knock himself out in the process
NRL: careless contact and high shots must be punished and dealt with
Also NRL: oh lol nvm it's Panthers, carry on
Nrl: Double forward passes and cheating, crying baby for every game. Need to be send off bin and disallow try.

broncos are little bitches. We've been hearing them whinge since October. It's hilarious.
@@GuyLovesAnOnionexactly my point. It's only because it's Walsh that people are talking about it. If May was the one that was injured would you still say a charge is needed?
the mitch kenny stuff is just nitpicking. you can clearly see the markers still have a straight line to cleary, and dummy halves do follow their pass because they have to be at the next ruck
But they add he only does it on tackle 5 to that extent, not saying it's wrong (because it has been allowed) but only doing it on tackle 5 to protect the kicker is premeditated.
With the Mitch Kenny incident, it’s an obstruction not blocking. If you’re not going to award the manly try , then Mitch Kenny needs to be penalised
Wow Paul Kent with a level headed opinion? Is the sun about to explode?
Refs call.
All dummy halves need to stay in motion after passing the ball, this could equally be a result of not being allower to go directly down town. Where else can he go?
If nothing else it was a shoulder charge. No arms in tackle and elbow tucked.
It's a collision sport grow up
My suggestion would be to google parts of the body, and then search for where the shoulder is. You'd be amazed at how stupid you are
BTW the guy who passed the ball to Walsh saw the defender coming and sold Walsh the dump.
His feet clearly left the ground as he hit Walsh, where would his point of impact been if his feet were on the ground?
That's what coaching is: finding ways to get an advantage over your opponents. Cant blame Ivan Cleary exploiting the rules. There will always be something to exploit
Obviously Kent has never played league. Kenny is allowed to follow the ball he can't go past the ruck until the ball is kicked. I'm not a Penrith supporter by the way.
He doesn't make of attempt to make a tackle. And he tuck his right arm in .
I'm one of the panther boys biggest fans my son has known creighton &to'o since they were all young....but taylan should be charged cos he came in with reckless kamikaze intent.....and look at the end result to walsh.....should've got 4 weeks
In England, that tackle is now a red card. Head on head contacts cause the most concusive injuries
The refs must have their eyes painted on some times..... WTF Watch them all use Walshe's head hit as a prerequisite now
Different set of rules for Penrith
Last Season Tapau (Broncos) kneed Rapana in the head and needed 16 stitches, He was free to play the next week. It was an accident but by the Duty of Care logic and contact to the head should’ve been a send off and suspension 🤷🏽♂️
But because it’s Walsh everyone’s having a meltdown
Come on man wake up - this is a pre calculated take out of a key player- he knew exactly what he was f*#kin doing.. dont sugar coat it
Why? Walsh has been average against Panthers. Overrated diva and a one trick pony who makes so many defensive errors.
Forget JWH. Remember when Latrell and Joey had a high speed collision ? Very little control. Mitchell got 6 weeks. Missed the GF. Possibly changed the result. Short memories. Was a ridiculous decision on Reece. And there was one the previous week. NRL are culpable.
Latrell straight tried to destroy Manu then though.

100% Panthers R looked after by the NRL, Just look at luai the week b4 a high shot and a trip he got nothing. If that was Reynolds,Napa or JWH they'd get a couple of weeks. Gordens right there, May jumps at Recce's head and hes out 4 6weeks.
That’s right he got nothing. I thought when you hit someone high and trip somebody it’s ten in the bin. Remember the high shot was only 4 minutes into the game, therefore para had to play the rest of the game without their winger for just about the whole match. And the panthers used that to their advantage and still only just won. They scored when we were a player short in the defensive line to.
You can see Taylan May is already making a beeline for Walsh as soon as Walsh gets the ball. May arrives after Walsh has passed the ball. Whatever Taylan May had in mind as a hit for Reece Walsh wasn’t going to be a soft hit. He could have aimed for the ribs. It was probably intended to snuff out the play without affecting a tackle. The hit went wrong and they clashed heads. Did May have to rush in like that? No. That’s the careless part given the head clash.
Agree with Gus. Let’s get rid of that phrase Duty of care. Contact sport So stop being fluffy
If reece had been charged for a shoulder charge in Vegas he would have been banned a couple of games and it wouldn't have happened
I hate both clubs but where was May supposed to go? He couldn't go anywhere in that short space of time. May straightened up & arms by his side as he had enough time to do that but he didn't have the time to actually move out the road. Common sense should prevail but the NRL don't have any common sense. I wish Annesley would've explained where Taylan should've gone to not make any contact with Walshy
Slippery slope it’s a slippery slope here, we are over analysing a accident which will enforce more unwarranted laws around the tackle area, I truly believe it’s only because it was Reece Walsh any other player this is a non issue!!
No charge. It wasn’t a high tackle it was a head clash. It’s unfortunate but these things happen in contact sport. Taylan should’ve been sent for an HIA too
Toughen up mate 😂
Adrian Morley would get a permanent ban if he was playing now 😂
May was trying avoid the head clash, it is why he only caught Walsh's cheek with his chin.
The brouhaha was over then they have to go and stir it up again.
Did you see that? Are u blind? Did he wrap his fxcking hands around Walsh? Was he standing aground when Reece came running at him? Wtf did you intend to see? Surely u were peeping👀 under your wife's skirt👗 looking for for some lost treasure within her stumble home...
May looks like the Type to do that, besides Reece already passed the ball, so why did May get in his face, anyway that's my opinion.!!
Its round 4 and we are talking rules
I know players have probably been coached and had it drummed into them how to tackle - I think it may be a good idea to teach players how to safely pull out of a tackle?
Walsh was head butted after he passed the ball...that cannot be a tackle
Disagree. Can't help head clashes like this. Also, JWH on Cleary is big man on small man. This is May on Walsh. They're not the same.
This is such a tough one. Because we are getting close now to where attackers can just Milk tackles. We already see it now where attackers deliberately lower their stance to basically initiate the bad contact and people throw out there well defenders have to have duty of care but also duty of care has to be on the attacker as well
On the same token, if it were JWH who was in Walsh’s position he’d still get charged
They both came together at speed there was no chance for May to go down low. Yes it's a terrible injury but that's part of a full contact sport at high speed, your going to get accidents. The fact that Ainslee can't see that is the reason this game will continue to suffer. Watch for when they start charging players for not actually tackling and just standing up.
The commenters keep saying the head clash was an accident. League is a contact sport and accidents happen because of the speed it's played at. Okay but could it have been prevented? 100% Taylan should have kept his feet on the ground and made an attempt to wrap his arms around the waist. Reece had no time to step or change angles, that made it super easy for Taylan to make a proper tackle which would have avoided the head clash in the first place. Taylan had so much time to line him up and make a great tackle but instead he tries to smash him chest high, no arms and jumps right before he makes contact. I can only assume what his intent was. I have no idea if the players thought about targeting him or not. But the tackle technique was rubbish and should be rubbed out of the game.
May was off his feet!!!
Funacine was boxing it wasn't accidental .
He threw a left hook .
Annersley is piss weak and should just bow out now while he still has some faculties left. He's just pandering to the Newscorp owned Broncos. It's just because Broncos and golden boy Walsh.

I agree with Gordie. It's a great tackle when it comes off, but it should be penalised if it goes south, even if it was against the donkey's
at the 4 minute mark Bollox to, "next time you get suspended", this video replay of the tackle will be the defence if rht did, as there was no punishment. IMO no one would lead with head to take someone out, as it could backfire badly but the tackler had had NO control and deserves at least a week
The dummy half running out blocking is pretty clever tbh. N I hate Penrith lol
In legal terms, I guess if the precedent has already been set with the Manu/Trell incident going back, there’s some time to be served. As a Broncos supporter I still believe it wasn’t deliberate. IMO.
Nothing like the Manu incident that was not accidental it was poor defensive effort
@@DavidPurcell-gq6id I never said it was accidental. I said a precedent had been set for this type of incident, regardless of whether it was deliberate or accidental or negligent. Trell’s incident set the standard for judgement of future incidents, and by rights should follow course for May. But, the NRL judiciary has chosen otherwise although Annersley disagrees. @@queenslander7756 Look at your name, and you expect to be taken seriously. Latrelle hit Manu with a stiff arm - that had zero relevance to an accidental head clash.
@@daleviker5884 You should read my original comment more closely. I wasn’t debating “accidental”, “careless”, “deliberate” etc. Those are just terminology used to describe the incident. Your choice of term depends on your opinion, or which team you support, but the judiciary doesn’t differentiate. It only looks at the severity and repercussions to the victim.
