I've watched this video before I love how you make it interesting and your videos are worth watching a few times. When time is boring you help me deal with it. Hope all is well with you and your family
As ive been cutting ive seen so many beautiful blocks of colour of pattern which i havent harvested. Now after seeing your video im kicking myself for not keeping. Love the olour block page background idea!! I want to do a colour based journal so that would be a great technique. I shall look with different eyes noe
wish I saw this before I cut thru like 30 magazines last weekend lol. I loved watching to see what you see! ♥ thank you for sharing. I don't comment much but I watch you an the time xox
If you could see the pile of magazines I have waiting to be harvested, o.my.goodness!!! So I'm thinking I should just grab one, harvest it, cut it up, file it and be happy for the time will spent. Then when I have a few minutes doing nothing good, do another one. Maybe I'll get em done before 2025? I'm really in over my head with these paper crafting things, Nik.🤯
This was a help, thanks🙂 How many boxes do you have to separate the shapes/images,?. I have trouble with this. I have separated into words, seasons, specific holidays, and backgrounds after you mentioned/taught that this video and before. I sorted by certain subjects I wanted to make a book about. Problem is I have too, too many boxes, envelopes, etc. Now I will separate squares, rectangles, of color! Any suggestions? Sometimes I think I have too many crafts. I get anxiety over the mess and too much clutter. I used to have a craft room but haven't had one for over 5 yrs😑😶😑😶😑😶😑😑. I am ALSO an avid reader! Hence, books everywhere also. I need help!!!! Can't do much crafting still, so mostly harvest the mags . Did start my first Creative Art Journal the other day. HELP!!!!
I think it’s okay to organize for the sake of organizing. It’s a soothing process, and it can help you imagine things. When you want to start a project, go through a FEW (not all) of your categories, pull out enough images to cover a FEW pages, and then ignore everything else. Make a page with only what’s in your little pile. Tadaaa! You’re an artist! Now repeat the process. You are in charge and you get to make up your own rules. Encouragement and best wishes for joy in your collecting and joy in your art.
You are so much like me, except I have a craft room, but can't use it because I have been organizing, again, and have books everywhere. So, yes I set around and harvest magazines a lot. Now I'm seeing things differently after Nicole showed her method.
@mindyscraps thank you for asking this question. I often feel super bad & guilty when it takes me 45 min to an hour to harvest ONE magazine or catalog. Now, I know I’m in good company. 😊 Nicole, thank you for answering & for all the sharing you do . 😊
This was so helpful for me, thank you! However, I didn’t quite understand what you using the orange perfume bottles with the blue background. You mentioned leaving a border. Do you cut a blue border on the bottle? Thanks for explaining:)
Hi Kelly! I'm glad you found this helpful. If an image, such as the perfume bottle, has a bright contrasting color behind it, instead of cutting the perfume bottle out right up to the edge, I leave a small border of the bright contrasting color to add more color to my gluebooks. I hope that makes sense!
Please, Nicole, talk about all the issues Eileen mentioned. I am drowning in the images I have harvested!!!! I have tried so many ways to store and still I don't know how to go select and make available. I am sure you have shown your work area - I have not been able to find that video- would you do another tour; reason being, you make it so simple when you reach for a fill in, like eyes, and the basket is right there and it just flows. Sorry to be so long winded but I am ready to throw all the images away and give up!
I have been there!!! I had a hard time moving from collecting to using. My advice is ignore your collection for a minute, just take a small pile of things you like and start an art page. After a short while, you will start to see what YOU like to make, and pretty soon you will be able to reorganize (or toss and start from scratch - why not, if you want to?!) and arrange your clippings in categories that work for the kind of art you are doing. Example: I do not want and would not use an eyeball category, although it’s important to Nikki. But I have an envelope full of staircases, and one of moons, and one of bowls - because I USE them. I hope you’ll jump into this end of the pool soon - it’s fun and free and safe!
Can't believe you got all those cut-outs from one magazine so amazing you also gave me great ideas along with it thnx for sharing Nicole 👍

Great timing...I just got in one to harvest.
I love these viveos! Would you consider doing harvest videos monthly? It helps me learn. You are so creative and catch things I would overlook!
Absolutely!!! 😘❤️
This video was so educational. Tons of ideas I hadn't thought about. I wasn't cutting out squares and rectangles but I will now.
I go through a magazine & just don't see it. guess it comes with practice. Love watching your videos. TFS

Forgot to ask: would you consider that magazine done? Ready for the recycle bin?
I’m just curious….how long did it take you cut everything up ?
48 minutes❤️ (I recorded it that’s the only reason why I know lol)

@@relaxcutglue yes, that completely makes sense! Thanks for the reply. 🌸
Here’s the deal:
Me and eyeballs = nope
Me and bright colors = nope
Me and sharks = nope
Me and Nicole from Relax, Cut, Glue = hells yah
Hahahhahaha! Oh Susan I just adore you! Thank you for supporting me and watching the videos that are not your thing! I appreciate you❤️ HUGS!

Folders with clear pockets so you can sort into categories? Or just grab a magazine and cut as you go rather than cut previously
Queen of work from home maybe?
You turned the needle into a golf club
cool.
