- Real Life Thomas The Tank Engine and Percy! Thomas and Percy are pulling passenger trains on Strasburg Railroad. Thomas and friends 2019. Thomas is a real steam locomotive and his mouth moves. Percy looks cool on the short trains but is just a wagon pushed around by a diesel locomotive ( SW8 ). Filmed at Strasburg Pennsylvania at various locations in both directions. I'm a big fan of NYCRR, so seeing that SW8 with the Strasburg name in NYC's lettering style was pretty cool for me. I enjoyed your whole video, and especially also #90. I just watched that one live the other day on one of the railcams.

Yes, but that was one of the wagons. Those are not the real ones. The one at Strasburg is a real steam locomotive that is able to pull the trains. I have seen the wagons at a few spots.

nice work on your video. I just realized that both Thomas & Percy only have 1 headlight on them. I wonder why that is?
For the work they do, that's all that is required. With the face in place, there can't be a light mounted on the end of the boiler. I think it's a sure thing that Thomas and Percy are never operated after dark, so only the single headlamp, placed off to the side, is there to meet basic requirements. If Thomas and Percy were expected to perform in darkness, they would have to have more lighting.

Percy was a fake. Thomas was real though, a real steam engine. Percy was just a wagon thought. Thanks for watching Sam!

When trucks smoke like Thomas people get all bent out of shape.
Back in the 80's, trucks did smoke. I had one that would really belch forth just like Thomas was showing. When I stomped on it and the smoke issued forth, not many people got bent, they got out of the way :) I miss those days. Mind you, smoking wasn't just wasted fuel and a lot of pollution, it was sometimes a sign that the equipment was being misused or abused. In my case, definitely the latter. Computer-controlled diesel have pretty much cleaned that all up. Quite rare to see smoke from a modern diesel, and if you do, there's a 50% chance that there's something gone wrong, and a 50% chance that something got deleted (or permanently bypassed).

At least thus Thomas is an actual engine. The last one I saw in FL was a fake engine. It did t even have rods on the wheels, just a flat car design to look like Thomas. Now Percy on the other hand?
I saw the mouth move on Thomas do the eyes move also and at least its not raining and I see millennium force and the gang are there and why did the car stop so far back when the Thomas was backing back

That’s...scary. When I was little I rode the “A day out with Thomas”. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t powered, but I remember Thomas looking HUGE!
It's an animatronic module hung on the smoke box door. Really want to freak, it talks two (built in sound system with pre-recorded voice clips from the show's Voice actor)
