They are definitely worth a deeper dive. Rime of the Ancient Mariner is actually a poem you may have studied in school. Bruce is very worldly, he's a pilot who flies the bands plane, he's a public speaker, a poet, Olympic fencer, cancer survivor among other things. Most of their work is about historical events and old literature.
Well, he's 65 now, he doesn't fly the jet anymore, obviously. But he did work as a commercial pilot for a few years when he was away from iron maiden. He's definitely a prime example on what you can achieve when you've got a curious, restless mind with the necessary energy and the courage to p+ss of a few people if needed to go your way. All the kids that are hyperactive should be taught about this man, to show what they can achieve when they focus their energy a little

I'm guessing reactors are attached to the novelty of Iron Maiden's 1982 concert performance... and it featured Clive Burr (drums) who was out of the band by 1983 and he passed away in 2013 after a long battle w/ MS. Iron Maiden is a UK heavy metal band w/ dual (now triple) guitars that broke big in the 80's... defined by soaring vocals... songs w/ time changes and melodic guitar harmonies... songs based on dark fantasy, movies, literature, poems, history and social commentary. Steve Harris (bass) formed Iron Maiden in 1975 as a local London pub band and he wanted to play his original songs that he had begun writing... Numerous members came & went in their club days and Dave Murray (guitar) joined permanently in 1977... Paul Di'Anno (vocals) also joined in '77 and he gave Iron Maiden a punk rock edge w/ his gruff vocals that appealed to both metal and punk rock fans in the UK. After being signed in 1979, Iron Maiden also adopted a mascot - a shriveled corpse w/ hollow eyes that they named 'Eddie the Head'... which appeared an all of Iron Maiden's album covers, t-shirts and merch. Iron Maiden quickly rose in Europe as they toured for their debut 'Iron Maiden' album in 1980 before Adrian Smith (guitar) joined the band (replacing guitarist Dennis Stratton) for their 2nd album 'Killers' in 1981... However, the touring schedule took a toll on singer Paul Di'Anno and he parted ways w/ Iron Maiden in '81. Bruce Dickinson (vocals) joined Iron Maiden and his high-range vocals streamlined their sound away from their punk rock edge on their 3rd album 'The number of the Beast' in 1982, which went to #1 in the UK and platinum in the US... After the tour, Nicko McBrain (drums) replaced drummer Clive Burr in 1983. Iron Maiden dominated the 80's w/ a string of platinum records ("Piece of Mind" in 1983... 'Powerslave' in 1984... 'Somewhere in time' in 1986 and 'Seventh son of a seventh son' in 1988) and massive world tours in arenas. Weary of the music business, guitarist Adrian Smith quit Iron Maiden and was replaced in 1990 by Janick Gers (guitar)... after 2 more successful albums ('No prayer for the dying' in 1990 and 'Fear of the dark' in 1992)... singer Bruce Dickinson announced that he was leaving the band for a solo career in 1993. In 1995, Iron Maiden announced Blaze Bayley (vocals) was the band's new singer but fans were not happy w/ his gruff vocal delivery on the album 'The X Factor' released that year... The 90's decade, dominated by grunge/ alternative rock, was hostile for 80's rock/ metal bands like Iron Maiden... and a new lead singer didn't help matters... Also, their longtime producer Martin Birch had retired in '92. Bayley also struggled in concert to sing Dickinson's songs because he didn't have the range and Iron Maiden was forced to play clubs and small venues on tour... After a 2nd album 'Virtual XI' w/ Bayley on vocals in 1998 failed commercially, the decision was made to fire Blaze Bayley... They reached out to Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith to rejoin Iron Maiden in 1999 for a reunion tour. With a 3-guitar line-up (Dave Murray, Janick Gers and Adrian Smith)... Iron Maiden began to rebuild their fanbase globally w/ the album 'Brave new world' in 2000... followed by 'Dance of Death' (2003)... 'A matter of life and death' (2006) ... 'The Final Frontier' (2010) While working on their 2015 double album 'The Book of Souls'... vocalist Bruce Dickinson was diagnosed w/ throat cancer and needed treatment... His recovery delayed touring until 2016 and 2017. Iron Maiden latest album 'Senjutsu' was released in 2021 and the band has continued to sell out arenas and stadiums worldwide. Bruce Dickinson has also had a solo career outside of Iron Maiden and his latest solo album 'The Mandrake Project' was released in 2024 - his 7th solo album, the first since 2005.
Iron Maiden are still selling out stadiums all over the world. They have many acts to their career. Early maiden is awesome but later Maiden (2000 and onward) is also awesome but songs in the later years tend to be much longer and more progressive metal. New Maiden songs I would recommend Dance of Death, The Red and the Black, Book of Souls, Hell on Earth. The Albums - Number of the Beast (1982) to Fear of the Dark (1992), are considered the “early years” with Bruce Dickinson on Vocals. The Wicker Man (2000) to Senjutsu (2021) and the albums in between are also all worth a listen. Bruce took a brief Hiatus after Fear of the Dark album and was away for 2 albums but he came back in 2000 for the Brave New World Album and he has never left since. I would recommend Rime of the Ancient Mariner from the Powerslave album (Live Version from 2008). My favourite albums from the early years era are Somewhere in Time and Powerslave.
Yes Iron Maiden for sure worth a deeper dive. This got a lot of airplay when local radio stations actually played a lot more rock.Yes the long guitar solos much more common back in the 80's and that stage setup is insane. Think you might like this one big outdoor concert . Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark (En Vivo!) 4K
My favorite album is their 4th Peice of Mind. Revelations, Still Life, To Tame a Land, Where Eagles Dare, Rime of the Ancient Mariner flight 666, Dance of Death EnVivo, The Trooper, Aces High, Powerslave, 22 acacia Avenue, To Tame a Land, Afraid to Shoot. I can keep going on the suggestions
Iron maiden is still very active. Actually their latest album, Senjutsu, is their best sold album, which is saying a lot in a 40+ years career. Their last tours are mostly sold out, and next year they'll go on a stadium tour where they will play mostly (or only) songs from their first 9 albums (1980-1992). So, even though the drummer (Nicko) is getting 72 and the rest of the band is in their mid-end 60s now, they are very much alive and kicking. Nicko had a stroke early 2023, half of his body had been paralysed and he had to get rehabilitation to get at least pay off his mobility back - but yet the band did go on tour, simplified some drum patterns and changed some songs on the setlist to accommodate him, and there they are - giving their all. Steve Harris, the bass guitarist and mastermind behind the band, has a second band and either is busy with iron maiden, he is busy with British lion, or playing football. When asked why he is almost always on stage or touring, he said he wouldn't know what else to do. They live it. They have their hobbies, but they love what they're doing and how their fans respond to them. At this stage of their careers it's not about the money (sure, everyone wants to make money), but it's more about enjoying they interaction with the crowd. They'll likely be another 4-5 years (2027-2030}, but realistically iron maiden will likely retire then. With 80 years playing heavy metal drums,... I'm realistic here. Nicko will likely not play full tours with 80 years, and the Band won't play without him either. So, we're likely seeing the final active years of iron maiden.
I've. Been. " Listening" to the mighty Iron Maiden, since. 1983. Um. On this album the . Line -up. Was Bruce Dickinson ( his 1st, ) Creator. Steve Harris, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and one my fav's. Drummer Clive Burr ( his last) ..... Hello sweetie 😊, I love your. Spirit, . We. Elders. Are looking forward to a new Generation. Of. True "MUSIC" fans to. This. Great. Music onto , otherwise, it. Would Lost to History !!!!
also, they sound just as good and just as tight now as they did when i saw the World Slavery Tour in the eighties... their catalog is massive and very good, Wasted Years, Aces High, The Trooper, Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Steve Harris writes a lot of their songs and has a great knowledge of history and classic literature. This show was the first with the new vocalist and was either just before or just after Number of the Beast was released. They are worth a deep dive. if you want a power lesson watch Live After Death - it is the World Slavery Tour recorded in Long Beach, CA
Saw the them 23 on the Futurer Past tour, seeing them again 25 on the coming toor. These guys just don´t stop touring, I don´t recall a year there werent touring. They arre the embodiment of Rock/Metal spirit. If you see them live, they breath fun and enjoyment, you can see that have great fun with what they are doing, ans so has the crowd Rock til you drop 🤘UP THE IRONS🤘
Indeed one of their best performances of this song. Been a Maiden fan since long and never had the chance to see them live due to where I live. They will never come here in Mauritius and if they do, it will be more for vacation purposes 😅 I am saving money to see them next year, I need to and they will definitely play this song. My favorite song is Infinite Dreams and if you get the chance to listen to it, you'll understand why, the song is just perfect.
Just a small correction: at the time of that video, Janick Gers didn't join yet so they still had 2 guitarists. Also the drummer was Clive Burr, he left Maiden after their 3rd studio album due to serious health issues. Songs I would suggest listening to are this very same song, but from their Flight 666 live. Same album, "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". Also "Dance of Death" from the "EN VIVO" album.
They play it faster than the album version on this performance, and it really changes the vibe of the song and robs it of a lot of the drama of the original.
I just stumbled across this in my feed I've been listening to iron maiden since 1984. You should really give some of the b-side stuff from their first two albums with the original singer a try, it gives a whole different feel of what they were like in the beginning. Plus the shine into what the original drummer was like.
You said the band was huge. That is an understatement. It still does huge tours around the world filling entire stadiums. Or even larger venues. They even had their own 747 painted with Iron Maiden logo and Eddie (the zombie mascot) for their world tours... piloted by none other than their own vocalist, Bruce Dickinson!
I think it is quite remarkable that the music from my high school years has endured and prospered through at least another generation or two and is still vital and being enjoyed by younger generations of fans to this day. Quality does indeed endure.
After that song you go for Ghost of navigator...he have best male metal voice ever, and he is multi talented person not only in music, and he is down on earth! I saw some video on youtube, Bruce is also a pilot of commercials planes, and after flight when he say his name, crowd in plane go wild :)

The greatest heavy metal song ever. There is so many songs to check out by them. And if your looking for songs for october, check out trick or treat by fastway, a real cool halloween metal song.
I'd say Fear of the Dark is my all time Favourite but maybe it's because i began listening to them with that record, they have an unique sound, that's maybe why you thought you had heard that riff, there's even a song called Last Resort by another band i can't remember the name now that has a similar riff and I always thought it was theirs, any song you react of them would be worthy, keep rocking and stay safe....!
Thanks for the suggestion! 😊I think I've just heard this song before without realizing who it was. 🤷🏻♀ But who knows, like you said, there are probably other bands that have used a similar sound because they were inspired by them..and I just had no idea. 😅
There are some insanely good live performances of "Fear of the Dark" by Iron Maiden. "The Wicker Man" song is a pretty cool music video for Iron Maiden.
@@nikkireviews The lyrics for "Fear of the dark" are perfect for October. I was only suggesting the "Wicker Man" because the music video is really cool.
From the same live, 'Children of the Damned'... That's the one that really gets my hair up. In a good way. Paul Di'Anno was way more streetwise. Attitude = 100%, certainly.
Actually Iron Maiden is world touring as I write this comment, and they are in the U.S now. I'm pretty excited for their concert they will perform where I live in Chile, on November. If you want a darker feel make sure you react to Sign of the Cross (Live in Rock in Rio 2001), that is a masterpiece.
Maiden is the best metal ever and they are still going strong and yes they are worth a deeper dive. They have 17 studio albums and 13 live which gives you plenty of material ala Nightwish.
'The Final Frontier' (2010)
While working on their 2015 double album 'The Book of Souls'... vocalist Bruce Dickinson was diagnosed w/ throat cancer and needed treatment...
Thanks for all the suggestions, I will add them to my list! That's awesome that they are still rocking out almost, what.. 50 years later? 👀
Up the Irons !! Classic Maiden - count me in. It doesnt get much better 🙂
Fear of the Dark seems to be the common request in these comments. 😅 I'll definitely be adding it to the poll later today! Thank you. 😊
Never played them on the radio here in Australia
@@danfriske666 We have a station in Cleveland home of the Buzzard WMMS and they played the great rock bands of the 80s and 90s .
Wow, thank you for all the suggestions - I'll be sure to add them to my list. It seems like everyone has a LOT of songs by them that they love! 😊
Would Lost to History !!!!
the best band in the history
Hi Nikki. Thanks a lot for reacting to this iconic band! 🤘🤘☠
Thank you for watching! More Iron Maiden to come. 😁
The song Number of the Beast is a Halloween list must
It should sound fermiliar to you, it's a freakin' classic.
also, they sound just as good and just as tight now as they did when i saw the World Slavery Tour in the eighties...
their catalog is massive and very good, Wasted Years, Aces High, The Trooper, Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
Iron Maiden just announced their next global tour.
Saw the them 23 on the Futurer Past tour, seeing them again 25 on the coming toor. These guys just don´t stop touring, I don´t recall a year there werent touring. They arre the embodiment of Rock/Metal spirit. If you see them live, they breath fun and enjoyment, you can see that have great fun with what they are doing, ans so has the crowd
Rock til you drop 🤘UP THE IRONS🤘
The drummer in this performance was Clive Burr, and Janick didn't join untill 1990's No Prayer For The Dying
Yep, same reaction we all have, instantly fell in love. Thanks for the great video! New subscriber for life. ❤
This is the first time they ever performed this in concert (!)
Saw them in Brisbane 4 weeks ago, they are still amazing 🤟
That's awesome that you got to see them live! 😊
"The Beast on the Road" tour - my first Maiden concert.
Oh wow, that's awesome! 🤘🏻
To Tame a land is another great one Nikki from Piece of Mind album! I here´s my suggestion 😉
One of my extreme favorites by them UP THE IRONS FOREVER Beautiful
Number of the Beast & Fear of the Dark are both really good Halloween songs. Maiden is such a great band!
I'm gonna add Fear of the Dark to the poll for this week (later today) cause it seems like a lot of people like that one!
They play it faster than the album version on this performance, and it really changes the vibe of the song and robs it of a lot of the drama of the original.
Dang. Well I'll have to check that version out too lol.
@@nikkireviews Definitely. Don't get me wrong though, this version sounds a bit rushed but Bruce still absolutely kills it!🤘
The eighties were a glorious time but I had fun in the seventies too
I just stumbled across this in my feed I've been listening to iron maiden since 1984.
They even had their own 747 painted with Iron Maiden logo and Eddie (the zombie mascot) for their world tours... piloted by none other than their own vocalist, Bruce Dickinson!
on this album they changed they singer and style drastically, they do definition of Metal, and change it forever, many bands wanted be like IM!!!
And yet, another Iron Maiden fan is born.😁
He's such a good singer!! I love this
Maiden still going strong today, still on top.
Number of the Beast was where they really took off
I think it is quite remarkable that the music from my high school years has endured and prospered through at least another generation or two and is still vital and being enjoyed by younger generations of fans to this day. Quality does indeed endure.
Nicko McBrain is 72 ,suffered a stroke in Jan 2023. He continued the future past tour in the spring 2023
I'll be really happy if I'm that active at that age
After that song you go for Ghost of navigator...he have best male metal voice ever, and he is multi talented person not only in music, and he is down on earth! I saw some video on youtube, Bruce is also a pilot of commercials planes, and after flight when he say his name, crowd in plane go wild :)
Young pup was twenty when this was recorded yes i was into band since 1980
Same when Self titled Iton Maiden came out omg it was them and merciful fate at the time for me
Love this ❤🤟🤘
Such a good one! 🤘🏻
GREAT REACTION NUMBER OF THE BEAST ,TROOPER ,ACES HIGH,2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT .. MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE
you earned a thumbs up and sub by not pausing - keep reacting to videos without pausing and react during/after and by end of 2025 you will have over 100k subscribers
Haha well thank you! And yes, I will never pause my videos.. I can't stand when people stop a song mid-way through (in person) cause I wanna take it all in. Sure, make a comment here and there but never stop the song! 😬Thanks for being here! 😊
The greatest heavy metal song ever. There is so many songs to check out by them. And if your looking for songs for october, check out trick or treat by fastway, a real cool halloween metal song.
DO MORE MAIDEN!
😁
🤘😎🤘
Will do! 🫡😊🤘🏻
Up the Irons!
My high school days... good times!!
Up the irons 🤘❤🏴
🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@nikkireviewsdo the live version in Rio 2001
There are some insanely good live performances of "Fear of the Dark" by Iron Maiden. "The Wicker Man" song is a pretty cool music video for Iron Maiden.
Thank you! It seems like Fear of the Dark is one a lot of people are suggesting so I'll have to put that one in the poll later today. 😊
@@nikkireviews The lyrics for "Fear of the dark" are perfect for October. I was only suggesting the "Wicker Man" because the music video is really cool.
this was the first time the song was heard. the album had not come out yet.
One of the deepest songs I have ever heard is the apparition, on the fear of the dark album. Up the iron's 🤘
The number of the beast is probably my favorite. Trooper is also good.
I was late into the game, I was more into punk back then
Iron Maiden are great till today!!!!!!🤘
'that sounsa familiar to me' - thats all the bands who imitated them.
From the same live, 'Children of the Damned'... That's the one that really gets my hair up. In a good way.
Paul Di'Anno was way more streetwise. Attitude = 100%, certainly.
One of the best live bands ever! Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Live Flight 666). You won’t regret it.
If you know Papa Roach - Last Resort, I swear you know the same riff. You can sing "cut my life into pieces" without a miss over that part.
Maybe that's what I was thinking of. 🤔
If you decide to become someone that does ASMR, you’ll crush it. Amazing ASMR voice.
Haha thanks. Ya know, I've actually thought about it before. I love ASMR myself so that would be fun. ☺️
fuk yeah ! up the irons maiden back in the day boi
I see them livea few time and I still listen today. Age 64
Good vocals
For sure!
Maiden is the best metal ever and they are still going strong and yes they are worth a deeper dive. They have 17 studio albums and 13 live which gives you plenty of material ala Nightwish. I think you should do Fear of The Dark from Rock in Rio live. They put out some of the best live music ever. Great review!❤🤘🤙
