With everything going on in the world, its nice to know that I can come home and watch Dave pick mushrooms. No politics, no news, just Dave, Bigfoot, and, some nature.
Thank you! I feel the same. When I'm in the woods I don't have to listen to people talk politics or hear how bad things in the world are. It's therapeutic to just get out in nature. 👍🌲🕷️🐍🌳
Nice find Dave what kind of trees do you find them around down there? I get them around old sycamores growing by creeks up here around Tahlequah not much luck this year maybe this weekend
I used that tactic a lot Dave, also used the take a step or three and stop, changes the whole picture. Wish I had known as a young person about mushrooms. One of my favorite foods. I joined the club of verified old farts Friday, 60 years. Happy Easter amigo, belated but I hope you had a beautiful one sir.🤝
What conditions do you look for? We went looking today, it had just rained a few days ago and has been up and down temperature wise. We found none but from your video we were looking in a similar landscape, maybe the wrong temp or humidity?
I hunt mainly along creek beds in my area. Under cedars, in briar patches, fallen trees etc. In my favorite locations I usually find the first bunch popping up the first part of April. The last batch I found last year was the last weekend of April. Never found any in May. My grandpa Clingmon Denton from johnson city,tn he use to go hunting for these mushrooms. Granny Bonnie Denton would fry them up in her cast iron skillet.
Hello Dave hope y'all had a blessed Easter, have you ever frozen them. I know you can dehydrate them maybe even freeze dry them but I never have frozen any. Any way thanks enjoy everyone you can get. If ya could pick enough they would bring in a shinny penny at the local Farmers Market.👍 Be safe and watch for them snakes.
I do freeze them. I put them in a Ziploc bag and fill it with water. That keeps them from freezer burn. When I'm ready to eat them I simply thaw them out, batter them and fry them.
@@BigfootandMore O Ok never thought about the water. Like freezing fish. Cover them in water. Common sense Sharon.. 😂 Thanks Dave y'all have a wonderful weekend..👍 🍄
If I'm going to eat them in the next few weeks I just cut them up, batter them and freeze them on a cookie sheet. Then put them in freezer bags. But long term I definitely freeze them in water.
Mostly morels. I collect shaggy mane mushrooms on occasion but they're not nearly as good as Morels. There are actually several edible mushrooms in Oklahoma. I just don't look for them much.

I can’t wait to get out into the woods next week! I am further north. Great video.
Wow that is exactly how we cook our morels
One of the many things my father thought me when I was young. Cannot wait to look for them in Minnesota.
That's the exact same technique I use you summed it up perfectly! Great haul beautiful mushrooms!
Thank you! For more morel hunting videos, check out my other RUclips channel. youtube.com/@davesoutdoorchannel9250

This year I'm finding them under cedars, oaks and under briars.
Dave I can’t remember or not if you have made a cooking video but I would be interested in seeing how you prepare these mushrooms.
No, I haven't made a video of cooking them yet . Maybe I will someday.
Sheesh y’all get a bunch of morels over there!
So far so good. I'm going again tomorrow.
Wow!! I'm so jealous . I been looking for Morel mushrooms, but no luck.
Nice video David! A1 steak sauce tho lol

The best! Nothing beats a cast iron skillet 👍
I only cook my sausage, eggs, chicken or hamburgers using a cast iron skillet.
Cast iron is definitely the healthier cookware compared to some of the non stick variety.
Those are nice

@@BigfootandMore O ok thanks I never saw them down here I am sure they are but not like up north. Maybe to hot down here for them to grow.
Do you collect any other edible mushrooms? Or more importantly are there any other edible mushrooms in Oklahoma?
