Very timely video for me. I just ordered the zPak umbrella with their attachment system, it arrives tomorrow. Guessing I will have the same issue with attaching so very grateful for the DIY solution. This will be a big head-start and should greatly reduce cursing 😊
It occurred to me while watching, another very inexpensive DIY solution might be to use a metal paper clamp from the office supply store. They are super strong, wide enough at the flexing end to accommodate the umbrella shaft as well at the backpack strap and be very secure. I haven’t tried it yet, but it theory, it should work.
Thanks so much for your video! We went on a trial “Camino” walk yesterday with all our gear- hiking poles and all, about 80° along the coast in San Diego. I overheat very easily and came back home and started researching Camino umbrellas right away. Your post has been so helpful! We’ll be near Caldas de Reis so decided to walk just a couple of days from there to Santiago but we’re hoping to do a longer Camino in the future. My mom was from Oviedo but we left when I was 8 yo, over 50 years ago. Many blessings to you!
Great video, a must see for anyone taking an umbrella. I was wondering how I was going to secure my umbrella to my Osprey pack, but you solved the problem. Thanks!!!!! Going on the Camino in the next few months.
❤😊, great video. I have used and umbrella for over a decade now and would not backpack without it. I have had 2 ultralight umbrellas but when my husband and I, did part of the Camino France with my Mother in 2016, they just used 2 dollar tree umbrellas with the top spray painted silver. I had an equinox ul umbrella that after 10 years is still serviceable., but Six Moon Designs , had the bigger, ultra light umbrella on sale a few years ago and I purchased it. I attended the umbrellas with a binder cilp at the top and a bungee lower down. I don't even walk around my neighborhood without my umbrella in the summer... Thank you again for creating this video. ❤😊.
Hello, and thank you! BUT…there are several styles and brands of hydration clips…I wasn’t able to find a link “down below”, LOL! Did I miss it? If not, please give a few more details on the style/brand of hydration clip. ALSO…is there a problem carrying a 25” umbrella In the cabin, or did you check it into cargo? ALSO, your back pack exceeds on-board dimensions…have you ever had a problem with that? Thank you VERY much!!!
Hi! Thanks for watching. The hydration clips I purchased from Amazon are called "Seibertron 2Pcs X Tactical Hydration Water Bladder Drinking Tube Trap Strap Clip Holder Buckle Hose Webbing Clip". I was able to bring the umbrella on the plane no problem. I didn't have any issues bringing my backpack on board either. It folds a bit so no issues there. When are you heading out on your camino and which one?
Hi Terry, a lot of people wearing Hoka trail shoes. Half a size bigger than your usual shoe size. I got mine a month before I left. Had 2 blisters the whole walk of Csmino frances so a complete success. Recommend toe socks as well.

Hi Steve and Terry. I have used Altra Olympus 4 trail runners for the last three caminos with no blisters at all. I purchased a 1/2 size larger. I plan on wearing them on another camino in September!

@@Dm777-7 yeah I used Speed gaat. Not sure how they would have coped if it had rained more but we only had 2 wet days in 40 days.

Can you use that umbrella if your gear is carryon only (ie, not checking luggage?). Thanks!
I actually was able to bring mine on the plane, but you might want to check with your airline to confirm.
Were you able to take the umbrella on the airplane as a carryon?
