They can create multiple gundam game linked to Gundam Metaverse Home (Pokemon Home). That literally use less than 3 million for following effort:
      For example:
Gundam UC Engage got GP00 (Gundam UC Engage).
Then SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL also got GP00.
Once the player got it on different game, they can transfer it to Gundam Metaverse Home like Pokemom Home. Then it just as a text different for us to memories we played different gundam game and we achieved. The best scenario we can use it on next game with slightly lower stat of course.
We know Pokemon is the first game that make the next version fun, because they carried the last version's data. Call of Duty doing it too. I meant there would be more game doing like this, in next decade, Mark my word. It literally just copied database and write some database linking and import script just to move data from one game to one game, literally cost less than 0.1 million when the companies build the base foundation.
Especially Like the Call of Duty:
" The weapons you can use in Modern Warfare 3 at launch range from a selection of new guns and returning Modern Warfare 2 guns. This means you have the choice of experimenting with new guns or sticking to old favourites "

Honestly, Bandai needs to lose this money and take this financial black eye. They've been making progressively worse decisions every year for the last few years and a harsh wake up call is in order. I've never gotten into many of the games, so I can't comment on that. But I've been buying model kits for decades, and am getting progressively more upset as time goes on, seeing them shift more and more of their releases to P-Bandai, and pushing the price further and further up. The Kampfer Schwer is a good example. They took a 22 year old, aged and dated kit, changed a couple runners, and slapped a huge price hike on it. I can get the MG Kampfer for ~$40, but the Schwer is $71. That's absolutely ridiculous.
Don't even get me started on the Mk-V and F90 being made PBandai, despite having completely standard retail boxes, clearly showing that they weren't meant to be PBandai, but Bandai's management changed to it so close to release that they didn't even have time to change the boxes to the normal PBandai style.
It feels like we're at a point where they're releasing more time-gated and fomo-centric kits than they are normal releases, and it would only make sense given Bandai's recent behavior, that if this metaverse project ever actually took off, they would make metaverse exclusive kits you could only buy at certain times through it.

I'm dead convinced at this point that Bamco's heads either don't like money, or they're so senile that they've forgotten the value of it when it comes to Gundam.
Just think of what that money could have gone into. Evolution was killed before its dev team even had a chance to finish what they had planned, GBO2 is still going but they're obviously understaffed and there's a plethora of issues that still plague it, SRW games rarely come out (especially strange considering 100 managed to break into global release status and did fairly well.), all of these situations could have used that money. Hell there's so many other game types they could use the IP for, imagine a fighting game developed by Arc Sys for one.
Even with the concept of Metaverse, if the idea is to slowly bring Build Fighters' concept to life.... Why not start the Build Fighters dream with a series of Gunpla specifically made to be scanned into a game....maybe an EX-Versus esque multiplayer game. Not necessarily complex models, maybe more on the simple side to start...but specifically built to be mix matched. The technology to do that totally exists(remember Skylanders?), and it'd give them an excuse to produce a whole line of complimentary gunpla. It's not perfect but it'd be a start, and yes its a bit money grubbing but hey...it's at least an idea that makes sense. More sense than a glorified interactive website/Meta wannabe that barely works and could easily have just been a browser experience. (for a fraction of the cost.)
Even when it comes to Gunpla itself, the thing at the center of it all, we're still in a Gunpla shortage. There's so many designs that still have yet to get a kit release, or a more recent or advanced release. Some really well known Mobile Suits haven't had a new kit since the damn 90's. Something other than yet another version of Grandpa or the tie-in kits. Witch is over and yet there's still not an at least MG level kit of Aerial Rebuild or Calabarn. P-Bandai could be expanded into something more widespread. They could dip more into other properties like Armored Core. There's just so much.
It's insane, they spent this amount of money on a virtual social space that barely works and is essentially made to promote Gunpla, meanwhile that shortage is still a thing and that same amount of money could have been spent to just...make more or better Gunpla. There's so many exceedingly obvious things they could do with this IP, things that people would actually want and yet they make this vapid joke of a program no one asked for and with no feature anyone is interested in, and are still obsessed with chasing the NFT scheme when most of the planet has moved on already make it make sense!

So, do you think Evolution could have had a future without this Metaverse project? Or do you think it was doomed regardless?

    • @GoldyGoldmembers
      @GoldyGoldmembers 9 месяцев назад +35

I think Evo was screwed regardless of this metaverse project's existence, but Bandai burning 130 million dollars sure didn't help it either. Evo's problems are/were its own. The shoddy servers in those first couple of seasons, the split regions that saw NA players migrating to JP region for ranked games, and the worst offender of them all, the monetization. I think once players realized they could not unlock all the mobile suits without opening their wallets, they quit the game and went elsewhere. Me personally, I didn't care about cosmetics since they all looked like shit, save for a select few like the Char Zaku II skin, that cost 4k green currency. Currency that could only be earned via getting duplicates from the game's loot boxes. I forget who did it first, 4chan or reddit, but there was a person who did the math and figured it was about $400 at least to get the 4k green currency during the limited time that the skin was available. The player count dropping off a cliff like a rock sealed the game's fate then and there. Each subsequent season saw a temporary rise in player count, only for them to leave again about a week later. Those players that came back when a new suit was released didn't bother coming back in the last three seasons and here we are, about 175 player count during the hours where the daily challenges refresh.
TLDR: Metaverse played no part in Gundam Evolution's shut down. That 130 million could have kept the Evolution going, but I doubt they would have put more money into the game even if they hadn't thrown that money in the metaverse project. Best you can do is hope that rumor of Gundam Evolution 2 is true and they announce it next year or whenever that steam post said it would. That or the efforts to get private servers up and running bare fruit.

However, someone I talked to elsewhere pointed out that Reiji was not supposed to have the Gundam he was using, because that's the same Gundam Sekai would later use and have it customized into something else. My memory in this is cloudy, so idk for sure.

Not necessarily cause having a spare model of extra parts for another or different kit is there. Build fighters try can be a good example of that cause while we do have the kamiki burning Gundam we also see the try burning Gundam in the club room, not to mention the spare parts of the build burning that yuu was given to by his sister. So something like that I don't see as such a stretch to believe. Not to mention registering different model kits so it's possible that there's different models saved to be used.
