    RT I hope you read this. I truly believe you're the major reason brood war is still alive in the west. You're one of the very few brave enough to actually play and try to improve in this god forsaken game, and I just love all the analysis during and after the games. Rarely you get something so in depth, especially for a game such as BW. I love to go over your stream and troll the fuck out of you but man, thank you, thank you so much for the great work. If you ever stop, I'm pretty confident it's the end of BW outside KR/CN, so here's hoping you never do. Also, tesagi.

    Neat little bonus about the (possible) deep dives at the end of these videos; having there sometimes be extra at the end adds additional uncertainty to how the match is going to go as you watch it. Thanks to the video length, often you can tell what sort of game to expect based on the time remaining, but not so much if there might be something else at the end that extends it (or not).

      @MrPianoPolitic wrong. Stockfish plays at a modest 3668ELO, the world's BEST player plays at 2805, which means Stockfish will statistically win 99.31% of the games they play. Let's not even bother and round that to 100%.

    • @MrPianoPolitic
      @MrPianoPolitic 6 месяцев назад +4

      @@MasterJohnam It is not 100%, because again chess is not solved. Suggesting chess is even remotely solved by engines also shows you have no idea how a chess engine works. Something I love about Starcraft is how at a high level, there's a real sense of action->reaction. One player makes a build decision, that causes the other player to react with a certain build option, this causes the first opponent to mix things up in a different way. And due to the game having fog of war, sometimes decisions must be made without complete information which adds inherent risks and reward. Such a timeless and fantastic game, it's obvious why Brood War was one of the first and greatest e-sports of all time.

    Hearing analysis about the adjustments is what makes Brood War the best game in existence. I also think that Flash is going to return to power if he commits to it, and I completely agree that he's not worried about winning and losing so much as experimenting.
    But, the hurdles that he still has to overcome seem to be mechanical ones. We're seeing him lose SCVs to probes, idling SCVs, building a million turrets and still losing his whole base to a shuttle and Reaver. Old Flash seemed to take fewer precautions than other players, yet take less damage than the situation seemed to merit. He would turn this corner-cutting into unstoppable timings.
    Seeing him win now with decision making and tactics is vaguely reminiscent of Ace-era Boxer, or Jaedong when he was starting to get back into the pro scene.
    None of this is to say that he won't tighten everything back up--I expect him to--but until he does, he's fighting without his superpower, and his dominance can't be a foregone conclusion.

When I tried getting back on the ladder the mass range dragoons openers are just so oppressive that I was wondering if there was a “critical” mass you needed to hard counter it since Terran doesn’t have any other real counters to them. It’s the reason Protoss have been able to sustain such greedy openers- because 4 dragoons is the critical mass versus Terran for them to easily hold their expo

    thank you for the analysis. I like replay + analysis (or even analysis only)
    I still somehow cannot believe that ALL those 6 mines that you mentioned were placed with intention. Some feels like "yeah, here a mine would help but it doesn't really matter whether it works".
    I can understan the two scouting mines but the rest feels like dropped quickly.

    You know a match is VERY good when RT educates the audience with a 10+min analysis 😁

    Classic Flash play, very agressive play style where you punish gready play. Typical Flash play in old days was busting zerg bases with speed. Also this type of play seems to work against Snow who prefer to be the cat playing with the victim in hes base. I mean sure snow is good at defence but hes efficiency drops when is the one getting push around and forced to defend in a more chaotic game. When he can sit back and be the one swoping in from nowhere he just have to much of an edge.
    I seen other very good terrans vs snow and they hide vultures on map and wait for those probe transfers

    at 8:46 snow drops his damaged dragoon to switch it out with a new one for his shuttle..
    but he drops it on top of a spider mine. it's off-screen, but you can see his supply drop from 92 to 90, so the dragoon died. hahaha

    re: the snow game, I feel like that one mine was a huge factor. If that mine does 0 damage, what then? Does the balance just reset and the game continues? Is Flash behind? Overextended?
