Correction: YAYA is the Great Spirit. Atabey is Mother Earth. Yaya is the Sky Father, and Yokahu / Yukiyu is the spirit of Yuca who feeds the people and the protector of the Boricuas because he defends the island from hurricanes (Jurikán) who attack from the east just like El Yunque is the first tall mountain that confronts eastern winds.
Thank you for taking time to learn our mythology. Taino the ancestors where a mix of lots of indigenous groups. The first ones are called arcaicos. Yocahú is not zeus. Yocahú is the God of all good, all beautiful, agriculture and he protect us from Guabanex. But that was a good way to explain it. The Yuke is also the most sacred place in all island.
Thank you for this!! I love to learn about different aspects of taino culture. It is so often overlooked and skimmed over in documentaries, videos etc.
I really enjoyed your video! When I was in grade school my dad was stationed on the military base, 1985-1989, so the whole family enjoyed all the outings to see the island. Brings back great memories 💜.
I watched your 360 first then found your RUclips which provided mote information. I visited PR once but only had 3 days and visited the fort, the colorful homes, drove around the island but my place was the hotel, it’s lovely beach and margaritas! This is a lovely island. 🗿🌨🌸🌴🌱. Than you...☔️❤️
First of all, the Tainos disappeared in the year 1500, killed by the Spaniels. There are nobody with Taino blood in Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans are a mixture of Spaniels, Italians, German ,Irish, French, Hollander, African, and English nationalities. Spanish is our main language, and English our 2nd language. But, unlike USA, there's no raicising in Puerto Rico. Everyone gets along fine. We party all year round. We love to dance and have a good time all year round. We welcome everybody and we are very friendly, hospitable people. Our food is delicious and very rich in flavor, and we have big variety of different foods. From Rice and beans, vegetables, Fish dishes and international culinary Restaurants. And delicious varieties of desserts.
Lori ...the tainos didn't "disappeared"...they well slaughtered by the Spaniards around 1511 in Yahueca and other battles. There were surviving tainos refuged in the mountains, and the eastern islands.
which island is it that had the science lab where they doing mutations on animals and other things, then wiped out by a hurricane and said to believe some of the creatures washed up in the U.S
Parent's, please keep your children under control when you see someone is recording. They're being extremely rude. Yes, it's lots of fun, but there is still such a thing as manners.
Que pasó con el idioma español,el idioma nativo de Puerto Rico,no es que esté encontra del inglés porque yo vivo en U.S.A y feliz con U.S.A.GOD bless U.S.A and P.R.wepaaaaaaa!
You physically can. But i wouldn't recommend it unless you actually know what you're doing, as I believe there is no official campground in El Yunque (there is one that appears in google maps, but is has no photos so i wouldn't trust it). This part of el yunque is also currently only accesible with reservations that you must buy before hand. (You can buy them in recreation.gov by searching el yunque)

Can anyone help by the explaining the Young Lords movement
Also, I don't think you understand the difference between jungles and rainforest. Jungles are not "wetter"
Can you camp there?

THERE ARE OTHER RAINFORESTS IN THE US. Including ones in Alaska, Washington State, and North Carolina. You lost credibility by saying that.
