Welcome back to Hourless Life where we are driving around the world. Today we are taking you on a walking tour of historically the most dangerous neighborhood in all of Colombia.
This place is known as Comuna 13. In this video, our guide, a local named Adrian who grew up in Comuna 13, explains the history of Comuna 13 and how it has changed into what it is today.
This is the short version of our tour that runs 11:55. We have an extended cut we plan to release as a separate video. Be watching for that within the next week.

Brian and Joel, wow. I really appreciate your comment. The encouragement is needed. Especially in light of how difficult these videos are to film, edit, process, and upload with mediocre internet and editing from our Jeep. Thanks so much and welcome to our channel. ~ Eric

We'd love to connect if we are ever in the same area guys. We're a moving target though, so a bit difficult to pin down. Sorry we missed you in Guatemala, and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Please feel free to reach out to us on Instagram with a private message of your itinerary. We can see if there might be any intersection of our travels. ~ Eric

Jeff, he was great. Having grown up there he was very open and honest, extremely transparent about the history. I actually edited this video down s ton. There was so much information. I have an extended version of this exact same video that is twice as long. I plan to release the extended version later this week for those who want to learn more. ~ Eric

Thank you Christopher. Appreciate the kind words about the video. As far as the book, I haven’t read it but I watched a RUclips video of the same title that told the story. Fascinating and much respect to that group! ~ Eric

Whitley, it was so incredibly encouraging to see the kids out there doing hip hop, breakdancing, and being actively open in their streets. From what Adrian told us, this is a massive change from just 10 years ago. ~ Eric

In March 17th TIME magazine included Medellin among the best 50 destinations in the world in 2023 and in January THE NEW YORK TIMES also included Medellin among the best 50 destinations in the world in 2023. Medellin is in fashion.

Was Comuna 13 a lower class neighborhood? Because if it was, that's the cleanest lower class neighborhood I've ever seen! I murals are awesome!

Our guide Adrian (who grew up in Comuna 13) said that we wouldn't have recognized this place just 10 years ago. The efforts we discussed in this video, and more at length in the extended cut of this video also available on RUclips have made drastic changes to Comuna 13 and it is an incredible place to visit. ~ Eric

They sent all of the trouble to Cali so this could be a tourist attraction.

The people of Comuna 13 have done a remarkable thing with their community. I don't really get the impression that they had any say in where the trouble went to, but I know they've been working hard to change where they are. ~ Eric
