- I really do hope many of you can emulate the steps or perhaps even come up with better solutions as time progresses. The LCD screen will take at least 1 month to deliver from the links below, however you can secure and setup a PC on the bench before it arrives and fix formatting at a later date. I put a LOT of detail in this video for those that want to see the install steps in detail. I have also setup a discord server please consider joining especially if you have ideas to share to make this better, or have general setup questions. 1. Auto hide task bar
2. Create ESPN short cut in chrome, and set to 250 size
3. Set Chrome to open in Kiosk mode (if you ever need to get out of Kiosk mode) press Alt - F4

Awesome! I literally found a simple way to do it in the steps I mention in the video and allows for a lot of versatility. I'm really enjoying the ambiance it creates in my room in the central part of the basement.

Getting close! Nearly set up! I'm building a custom wooden frame to mount above the main TV in my bar. This box will have a small open space to house all the circuit boards. Thanks for the detailed steps. I tripped on a few of them, but was able to go back and make the corrections. Works great!

This great! Thank you for the detailed explanation of the software involved and how to set it up. The only unfortunate part is the cost of the monitor - a good 32" FHD smart TV can be bought for $30 less than the stretched 24" LCD.
Your right however I don't know a cheaper source . This was about tickers and replicating that look which you can't do with regular screens . That I did some videos for separately. As these long screens are not mass produced there is more cost I suspect to manufacture

I started this project myself. Excellent guide. I was hoping to utilizing a regular 24 inch flatscreen and fill the below space with local stats from our man cave. However, my first go wasn't very successful at getting that space back from the ESPN full screen view. (I might dig a little deeper see what options are out there.) Anyway, I started looking at the 24 inch stretched lcd bars, since that looks much cooler as a dedicated sports tracker. They all seem to require a controller board. I guessing lcd bars are not the same as a monitors, where I could just connect vis an hdmi cable.
Also. Just perfect basement that every kid dreams of! :)

I wonder if I can use the second video out on the Z83 I'm using with the MoviePosterApp to run the RSS app, so effectively use the same mini PC to display both the poster app and the news ticker right above it?
Yes! Should be able to for sure! Far more efficient to do that.

What kind of brackets did you use to mount the display to the wall? I am concerned about stability. I know you say L hooks, but how do you keep it from sliding off of them?
The screen itself is super light, the wires in the back are also countering its weight. If you have a concern in your space use 4 L hooks 2 on top and two on bottom. For me 2 on the bottom has been more than good enough.
Anyway to do this with stock & crypto market live data?
Have you thought about using tampermonkey to remove/minimise the size of the ESPN banner/menu. You could also use it to auto scroll through all the games/sports available? TLDR you can use tampermonkey to do practically anything.
Plus you could use vnc for local access. I don't see the need to access the computer from outside your own local network

I know ESPN had a little program called ESPN Bottomline, but they stopped it years ago.
I want to get this done as smooth as possible without having to change websites again and again...
Thx! Ive tried with a bunch of other sites and espn is the best formated for quick changes. Still haven't found a free source for scrolling live scores, they all seem to be offline now or paid. Hopefully something turns up.

Not sure if you mentioned it, but how are you controlling/navigating the mini PC? Do you have a mouse and keyboard hooked up to it or just using the remote function you explained with the smart phone?

And where do you recommend to get the best quality gifs for your sports logos. What actually do you use to find them in such high quality?
Would those "PC on a stick" solutions work for the movie poster apps that you use in the GameRoom/ManCave also?
100% does but a raspberry Pi with Movienow app would be a cheaper solution

I noticed you said you were from Canada, but the prices you’re giving are American. Do you mind me asking what this roughly cost you in Canadian dollars? I assume a lot more with the exchange rate right now
I spent a total of $320 Canadian (including duty) already had a spare old PC from years ago as seen in the video. Budget another 80 or so CAD for a used small PC off of Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace. Any old PC will do that has HDMI/displayport out.

missing the part where i can set my browsersize so the display shows the top of the espn page and the ticker. I have the browser size at 1024x250 right now but it shows the 'ad' on the espn page as well along with the top of the page with scores
Set to 1920x360 and then set browser zoom to 250 in chrome

Thx! Should be able to but will need some coding as I'm not aware of any apps etc. Hopefully this leads to someone who has played around with Pi a bit more to get it going. With windows I felt I could be more versatile on how I can use it. Check out my Instagram for some fun with it 😁
You should be able to run Chromium on a Pi like this. I think I may have a new project now.
@@GothamTommy if you want to overlay a scrolling ticker app that may be harder to do with Pi. Also have to see if it is to manipulate and control via chrome remote desktop or another app.

Unfortunately the ones I know of were way too expensive. Alternatively I was doing to put two of them on a corner wall and use both HDMI out of my PC. I may still do that as a POC. 😜

I purchased my screen and can’t get it to light up looking for troubleshooting help.
Likely not getting power or not seated properly. Check all inputs as well when you connect it. 9 times out of 10 it's been user error it can't rule out hardware issue

There are but paid subscriptions ones ..ESPN used to be free and now closed. I haven't looked in a while but there may be some others I'm not aware of!

Curious too, I haven't found free ones yet. Lots existed in the past but can't find any that are still live without having to pay. Ok with just the news now but score updates would be more ideal.

No automation or control, perhaps on an open source android device but more trouble and far more steps for the masses. If you know how to do it, do it via a raspberry Pi also.
