I am going to assume that the reason the sauce on the bottom scorches is because there is sugar in the sauce and that would caramelize. But that is a guess!

Save a little water and rinse the marinara sauce jar, add it back to the pot. You don’t waste a drop that way.

people of youtube: make this recipe!
flo: i loved it. i think this is one of the most flavourful and satisfying red sauce pastas i've made. i've seen other one pot pasta instant pot recipes recommend using low pressure and half the time on the package - i might try that next time. the sausage i used let out quite a bit of fat, and i ended up straining it off, but no big deal really.
as an aside, i joined costco yesterday, i pretty much blame your channel/videos, but it's already worth it! (the butter was ridiculously cheap, and not a bad deal on bacon, half and half, etc).

Am trying this tonight! Never made the sauce with bacon before so am anxious to try. Used bacon, Italian sausage and ground beef. 😱 Going for a real meaty sauce to hopefully get past Dad - he doesn't generally like pasta meals. So am taking a risk here... or I may have a lot of leftovers! Also I probably cheated because I switched out pots - have never seen the 'burn' notification but have scorched things before so not taking any chances! Oh am also trying a lower carb pasta - will let you know!
Later that night... he liked it!! More meat less pasta for him. And i have leftovers for a month but am very pleased- it came out fantastic! Thank you!!!

Lots of great tips! Looking forward to trying this really soon!
My go-to knife is the santoku knife followed by the chef's knife. No idea why. I think it is because I feel like the Santoku is a really versatile and balanced knife. Pretty much a hybrid between a chef's knife and a cleaver. But that's just me.
Here's an idea for a future video. Maybe you can do a tutorial on how to properly sharpen knives.

Flo & Dude, I've been a subscriber to your channel for over a year now and love your videos. This Prime day I succumbed and bought an IP Duo 60 (we're limited in the models we can buy in the UK). I then bought the Kindle version of your cookbook.
After the Water Test, the very first thing I cooked was your 1 pot Pasta from this video. Did all the recommended things, made sure the bottom of the pot was deglazed, thought I put in plenty of water, but still got a 'burn' come up on the display. I followed your advice and hit Cancel then left the pot for the length of time I was going to cook under pressure. Hey presto it came out absolutely perfectly.
I have to say it was excellent! Thank you so much for your recipes and your informative and amusing videos. Keep up the good work !

2 thumbs up for Better than Boullion! You can get it organic, comes in two sizes, keeps Forever in the fridge, (no half used containers of broth) and I always have it when needed. The mushroom flavor allows everyone to be happy (we have a vegan in the house). And its greener, (not transporting all that water in broth). Salty, yummy goodness!

Wow, watching the redo of one pot pasta and note you are using more water and more sauce. This is what I found was missing from the previous spaghetti instructions. We prefer vermicelli to spaghetti which 1 lb was way too much for the recipe. I ended up adding 3/4 jar more water and added olive oil which you are now using bacon grease. I also added a little sugar because the sauce was too tangy. Was much better in day 2. I think it needs more meat (which you are adding bacon). All in all the directions are a good guide. Thank you

    • @FloLum
      @FloLum  5 лет назад +3

No I haven’t. When I used to cook pasta on the stovetop, I would always cook the pasta until just al dente and then cook it for another minute in the sauce. I find making it in the IP just infuses more flavour into the pasta.

I wonder if the spaghetti doesn't cooperate as well because it's a long cut pasta? I noticed the pasta you used in this video is medium cut - maybe that makes a difference. Do you usually use medium cut pasta to make this, or do you use other long cut pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, etc) without issue?
Anyway, looks delicious.. I'll have to make a version of this in my Le Creuset. Living in Japan at the moment, and it's too much hassle to have an instant pot shipped over, only to have to bring it back to the States with me when I go back home.

It is awesome now dude works so well WITH Flo Lum! Most men are not that interested in the small details of living. In fact most women WANT to do it themselves..... and usually the men find really good places to hide? I love all of their recipes but, I have to admit I'm watching THEM as well. : o/

When I try to saute anything on my instant pot, the heat output from the device never seems to be enough to effectively brown anything, even on the max setting. Maybe my instant pot was defective to begin with!

I agree that it does not get hot enough for liking either. It just takes a bit longer. If your pot is defective, I suggest contacting their customer support.

Ugh! I did two things wrong in making this meal: (1) I was using a splatter guard to separate the oil from the bacon after cooking it. I put it too close to my cooking area and dumped ALL THE BACON onto the floor. ALL OF IT, UNUSABLE! (2) I didn't account for the extra water when trying to get at the remaining pasta sauce in the jar. I may have too much water in the pot for cooking.
Here's to hoping it doesn't turn out too bad after cooking.
NB: I did not use a paper towel because we don't use paper towels in the house anymore and my wife will not buy them anymore.

I soo hate when they disicuntue a product or just ure grocery store quotes carrying it and u have to just get it at Walmart ugg.Me and my sister has had several of our favs do that .One of them is raspberry lemonade Gatorade in the g2 too.It wasalways harder to keep at the stores .and then one day just like that they discoun ued it.Ya that's excatly what u should do when people really like something .I'm gonna make that recipe 4ith some tortellini I think. Luv marina ,I'd drink it by the jar ,but i digress.Heart burn ,I'm not sure about spaghetti in my IP yet though. Only because it's more watery and its so easy the stove way .looks good though, hope ure doing well.

860 mils or 860 grams in jar of sauce? Grams seem most common measurement on the jars in my market.
