    As a Londoner, I think you have a very romantic view of London. However, I'd like to warn anyone who wants to live here, if you aren't extremely wealthy, you will not find it so amazing as she describes, but it is a wonderful city either way :)

      @banandababa 9 лет назад +13

      Maya Also, I don't know what part of london you are from but I disagree 100% on the fact you think London is full of extraverts, people are so mean and unfriendly!!

    • @prettylagoon
      @prettylagoon 9 лет назад +1

      +Maya I've never been but I love so so many things English. My idea is terribly Romantic, one of Hammer Horror - cobblestone streets, vampires, werewolves, devils, ghosts, copious fog & storms...you get the idea.

      +Maya OK but maybe at least in the countryside? Just say yes! Kate Bush performed 2 years ago, that's quite romantic and dazzling!

      +MFC1791 London is not that amazing. Mimi is a rich business woman who can rent in the posh West area. Rent is crazy expensive, people are NOT that friendly, compared to the rest of Europe London scores behind be it education, healthcare etc. It's not peaceful like she said. If u come from New York u will feel it's peaceful but trust me u hear ambulances 24/7 and many cheaper areas in London are absolutely neglected and dirty. People are generally not happy with their lives, we have a lot of poverty etc. I can understand Mimi since she has no other worries and lives in this West London bubble, but if she met REAL Londoners she would understand. I can't wait to move out. I'll go to somewhere close, The Netherlands. Beautiful country, cycling lifestyle, Amsterdam is Amazing.

    How you describe your experience with first going to London is exactly how I felt too, I remember it exactly. I went on a weekend there and after a day I felt the exact same feeling as you describe, I felt like home, like it was here I belonged. 3 years later I moved to London straight after graduating high school, I then lived there for two years, but am now back in Sweden for my university studies. But I truly miss London every day and I know that I will come back! The way I felt there is truly indescribable, and I haven't felt that way ever before, it's a different type of belonging and feeling of home! It's nice hearing you describe it, brings back memories :) x

    I lived in London for over a year from 2011 and I loved it. But I arrived there during a time of record unemployment which meant the job market was tough. It took me 2 months to find my first job (while depleting my savings in the process) and my first job only paid £18K per year. Those who live in London will know that is not much. I lived frugally and went without luxuries but still found it hard to make ends meet. Other jobs I had didn't pay a lot more and I knew many others in the same boat. Eventually, I made the decision to leave because I couldn't see myself living under that much financial stress long term. For anyone thinking of making the move save as much money as you can, more than you think you'll need, so you can make the best start possible. Living in London was my dream for many years before I made it over there. I don't regret going, it was one of the best experiences of my life. But understand that not everyone will be as financially fortunate to live in the city's west or travel frequently.

      Hello Sharon Green 💚, I liked so much your personal story living in London, England. It's always complicated for any person to move on from her/ his native country to a great city-capital of Europe like London which handle the coin most strong in the world. Thank you for sharing us your experience. Greetings and blessings from Sonora, México 🇲🇽👍💖🙏👋

    As a Brazilian living in England for 10 years and 7 in London , London is far more exciting than the rest of the country ... You never fell like outsider here, nobody pay atention on yours accent , nobody care where you come from , you are truly free here , but all that come with a big price tag ... Everything is extremely expensive , there is no value for money . U are so free that if happen something to you nobody cares , you are alone ! London does not represent England or English people . However it's the best city I ever lived , even with all problems that all big cities has 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞

    She should have started this video by saying, "I'm rich so if you aren't wealthy basically none of this will apply to you. 60% of your income will go to rent and you will just be able to afford to go to work and home and that's about it." That's the real London. I don't know what she's talking about.

    Honestly I loved this video but as a true Lodoner who's grandfather was a black cabbie. PLEASE PLEASE support black cabs!! Uber is a massive corporate company who make billions a year!! Black cab drivers are self employed and have to study and learn every road in the city called 'the knowledge' black cabs are a huge part of London and are unfortunately a dying breed. So if you LOVE London and my city, PLEASE support black cabbies 🇬🇧

      The police said a sexual abuse takes place in an uber in London every 11 days... uber was hiding sexual abuse complaints from the police... but this just bounces off girls heads for some reason... they will keep using uber until they are abused it seems... one uber driver wanted to commit a terror attack so typed Windsor Castle into his sat-nav and ended up outside the Windsor Castle pub in Camden lol... anyway, he then drove down to Buckingham Palace and started swinging a samurai sword around... even this will bounce off their heads... it is this new metropolitan type that keeps the corporate slave driving vampire alive... then they'll lecture on morals...

      Robin Hood, I have and the claim is true. Too many street gangs who are black or Eastern European. If you haven't seen them then you're living a sheltered life and have never been to Tower Hamlets, Tottenham, Hackney, Walthamstow, Ilford, Stratford or Enfield and think Westminster, Paddington, Bayswater and the other central parts are all that London is.

      North London and West London are quite expensive so is central to but people tend to live in other parts of London rather than central. There can also be expensive places in south and east too. Somettimes depends on the area too

    if you like London so much just think how much you would enjoy living in the British countryside! I used to live in London for 3 years, then I moved up North for the university and I think the experience has really been eye-opening! Life doesn't end when you get outside of London, on the contrary - I think it only gets better, the houses are cheaper, the people are more polite and welcoming, the scenery is beautiful and there are still quite large cities around (like Birmingham, or Manchester, or Leeds, or York etc). Explore the UK, Mimi, travelling around Europe is great, but how about exploring the country you live in a bit more? :)

    what I write is the truth... check out room / flat rentals, look at the cost of a monthly tube pass, work out your bills and council tax. then add basics like food, cleaning products and personal hygiene stuff. now look at jobs and their wage. it's totally unsustainable for a city to be like this.

    Thank you so much for this! I am British, but have lived away from London in the US and Canada for almost 50 years!! I went back home last month, for the first time in 11 years - and I just can't get the thought of moving back there out of my mind. I felt whole while there - everyone was so kind, friendly, welcoming. I travelled on my own, as this was a journey I felt I needed to do alone. I became a different person while there - or perhaps my true self. I am realistic enough to realize that at my age (68) this will not happen, but pledge to save as much as I can to make sure I can visit at least once a year. I am so glad you love it too!

      Hey read y'all's sweet comments as that a little prayer and wishing all the best I couldn't hear any " British English "
      But that doesn't mean anything lol
      Proud of y'all. Learning a language can be intense. And I have a stutter lol
      I remember reading in grade school we read about Noah webster's book and I'm pretty sure he wrote the dictionary I read it 13 years ago
      But I say for Ex the word in American English is color but in British English it is spelled colour pretty sure. Google is telling me I'm misspelling it lol
      And I remember seeing on RUclips Bc I was interested in this myself and I saw s video like this. I couldn't figure out how to copy the link on my phone, but here's something that might help: " American vs. British English vowel sounds -- pronunciation differences " by Rachel's English
      Praying y'all don't give up !

    I really like your infectious enthusiasm for London: I was amazed by how many pros and how few cons you had on your list but it filled me with joy to listen and think about how great it is - and how Europe as a whole has lots of positive points. I've never visited Canada but I hope to sometime soon. Friends who have been there tell me about the wonderful open spaces - and it is very crowded over here - but that is something we can adapt to and accept. There is so much to be happy about when living here, although the cost of renting has increased enormously over the years that I have lived here. The parks, the museums, the cosmopolitan coolness. It's fabulous - and you describe why it is so well! :)

    wow, I felt the same way when I visited and lived in London. I haven't seen anyone else express it so strongly. I came to study abroad my freshman year of college, and I've since graduated and lived in a few cities in the US (new york and seattle). I've never felt so "at home" anywhere else. It was a very distinct feeling and thankfully I can live there again. I met my partner there my first year of uni, and recently found out that I might be able to transfer to my company's London office. Vivian Guan Actually, not anymore! The entire north American western coastline - but particularly northern USA and Canada - has been negatively impacted by radiation from Fukushima. The 'official' figure of toxic radioactive waste water being dumped into the ocean *DAILY* at Fukushima is *THREE HUNDRED tons* (yes, DAILY since the disaster happened)... and the ocean currents all flow directly to north America!!! Consequently, I would be extremely careful about consuming seafood from the northern Pacific. If you can, buy seafood imported from the Atlantic and/or Indian Oceans. The southern Pacific is also safer, but in third place in relation to the above.

    Wow it's so refreshing to here your perspective of the city I've been born and raised in . I really liked how you said London is an extroverted city , because normally I hear people say that people here are introverted . Like my friend from New York said that London is so much more introverted whereas. New York is extroverted . Which might be true but I don't know since I never been there :)

    Hi Mimi! I love this video and your enthusiasm for this city is great but having lived here for half of my life I don't think it's as fun when you don't have the money to do the stuff you talk about all the time :/ (Obviously you + Alex work super hard so you deserve it, I'm not saying you don't!) But for people moving to London, they should keep in mind that they won't necessarily be able to live in Notting Hill and things might not look so nice from a council flat in Tottenham, for example. Just a thought, not bashing you in any way xxxx

    • @khadeejaahsan4512
      @khadeejaahsan4512 9 лет назад +20

      That's why the video is called "...my experience". When she does mention Canada as a whole vs Toronto she's not wrong, like the cost of our cell phone plans is ridiculously high when compared to many other countries. Toronto is where's she's lived so she cant compare it to other Canadian cities that she may have visited. And the video is about her opinions of living in London, why would she have to throw in a caveat about how grateful she is/isn't to have lived in Canada or anywhere else to appease us.

I've always said that I could never live in big cities like New York and Los Angeles because they're so fast paced that it stresses me out. • @zochbuppet448
    @zochbuppet448 8 лет назад +12

    Sorry but ...rich girl alert.
    I have no clue what she is talking about London not having that big city feel.
    Years ago when I first went to London, I had no clue that it was going to be as crowded and busy like New York city and I stayed in South London....which was considered inner city at the time (I didnt know that), not its not central london.
    You're telling Bayswater in central london, which which seemed like a tourist drop off and hooker central, was not busy. ...forget the nice historical Buildings and concentrate on the amount of people
    New York and London have about the same amount of people. The difference was that people in London was more civil....think of it as the difference between Canadians and an overtly brash person from Texas. New York has also changed quite a bit. it dosnt not have the same amount of crimes as it used to have
    When I was there business culture was so different from U.S and Canada. She went there to start up a marketing firm...which should give you clue even though it was 2013 she moved there

You are such an inspiration to me and my friends, I love your outlook on life an just your over all life style ( it's so cool) You've really shown me that I don't have to go half way around to world to experience culture, that there is always something exciting in the next town over. I'm so excited that you are enjoying London. I was wondering if you would do a make up tutorial. I've recently been trying to use products that are cruelty free, and free of anything unnatural. And I know that you use natural products and still manage to have such a beautiful make up look. Thank you so much for all of you videos! An also I totally agree with the whole museum thing, I really with they did that here in America.

    want to move to london? Don't do it. its shit! really really expensive to rent and to buy... well you have to be a millionaire.
    paying for transport, dinning out, drinks and local taxes even parking your car outside your flat is expensive. Most people who are single on a middle income will have to share with at least three other people in a crapy flat that has no lounge and multiple problems which the landlord doesn't care about as long as you keep paying through the nose your rent.
    British people aren't particularly inclusive. they are polite, friendly and this is genuine but they are very particular who they make friends with and clicky so you will find it hard.
    don't mean to burst bubbles but this is the reality of london. visiting it is worth while as it's an amazing city just sooo expensive to live there.
