Outlaw's Board Butter - www.731woodworks.com/store/boardbutter
Just wanted to say AWESOME router base plate at Make a wood sign. Just got mine in mail today.
I've been carrying that Milwaukee blade for over a year. Love it. I even once fudged up and forgot to take it out of my pocket before I went through airport security, but all I had to do was drop the blades in the trash and went right through.
People laughed at my fastback because I carry it as EDC but as a suburban warrior the box cutter screwdriver combo is far more useful than any pocket knife
Seriously I couldn't agree more. Granted I have a few really good knives and multitools that need some love every once in a while. I now have multiple different fastbacks in different places, I even have my fiancé carrying them in her different bags, on her and even in her car.
I've used those mechanical pencils for a few years now. Love 'em...!
Same here. For some reason I like buying pens and pencils. I bought one of these pencils a couple years ago and this year bought a new one (different color) and all of a sudden I can't find the first one I bought. Lol.
I need to order that base plate.
Bought 2 Milwaukee Fastbacks... One for each Tote!! Love this thing!!
I bet I could model and 3d print that router base. Super slick idea.
I almost picked up the Milwaukee knife around Christmas but thought, “I already have these tools”. Fast forward 6 weeks later doing a dryer repair project and I’m like “man I need to consolidate somehow.” Perfect solution.
You should do a comparison video between the graph gear and pica pencils
Great tip’s thanks Matt
#2, i've been using one like that since 1989 around the house, very handy thing indeed.
Great presentation of tools!
Well done!
Thank you very much!
Topo-Chico!! The hangover cure!
I like 0.9mm for the shop, it's far more durable. It's not as great for finer woodworking but that's why I have marking knives.
Baseplate for my Makita XTR01: ordered. Trim routers are nice but can be unstable as all get out.
Tool #6, Walrus Oil lip balm. 👍🏼
Very nice, added the square to my Amazon list!
Just ordered the pencil, thanks!
Great list Mighty Matt!!
I’ve been watching your videos because I’m looking at getting into woodworking. It was great to see some of the things I already own in the list.
I have the fastback box cutter in my tool belt and the fastback pocket knife as my EDC. And I’ve been using that .9 pentel for years now.
I absolutely LOVE the router base plates. I have several routers and I have base plates for all of them. It completely changes the typical instability of a handheld router and gives you so much more control. Also - it changes HOW the router is held. As someone who has low hand strength, I no longer have to support the weight of the router while keeping it steady and plumb - my hands are flat on the router plate/handles and on the work surface. If you are looking for more stability and control for your handheld router, these router bases will make all the difference!
It’s nice to see that my suggestion to try the Pentel 1000 pencils is working out for yinz. They’re all I carry anymore, the 9 for most stuff and the 7 for interior trim work and layout. Word of caution for folks trying them for the first time: they do not respond well to falling tip first on hard surfaces.
The Milwaukee multi-knife is the best tool I've ever bought. I use it everyday.
Oh those graphgear pencils are great, pricey but great! Once you switch to them it’s hard to go back to the plastic ones. I use .5 for measurement marking and the .9 for things like jointing.
Those are the best pencils I have ever used.
Does that Wera screwdriver double as a secret dinosaur DNA collector? I’m pretty sure that’s the same mechanism as the specialized can of shaving cream in Jurassic Park... ;) lol
3x3 customs router base is awesome
Well, that's a list I can second in its entirety. I have:
Milwaukee Fastback- Mine is the compact, but any of their models are top notch. HD has better prices on them.
Ratcheting Screwdriver- I prefer the MegaPro Automotive, but Wera is a good one too.
Machinist Square- Mine is not magnetized, but I like the magnet feature of the FastCap.
GraphGear Pencils- 0.9 and 0.5. Haven't used another pencil in almost 2 years.
Dave's Trim Router Base Plate- Love it! Dave also has them for sale through an Amazon store. Well worth the investment.
Bottom line is there isn't a single dust collecting gadget on the list. Good job!
Gosh I hate when I break the lead in my pencil...lol! The Milwaukee fastback w/bit holder is my favorite. I keep one in the tool bag and one on me!
I thought I had the super cool box knife you showed. Apparently I grabbed the "little brother" which has none of the features of yours....
I like the additional features of the Graphgear 1000. I originally purchased the 500 series, but have come to love the ability to retract the lead by clicking the pocket clip on the 1000. Great pencils👍
Howdy Mr. 731...
The other day I said I didn't like "hidden" compartments on my hand tools cause it made them bulky.
I retract that comment now after seeing it. And I like the color, nice and bright and stands out in my mess of a shop. That tool looked to be pretty much relative to a regular screw driver. Gonna have to get me a few of them (even though I've got like 20+ screw drivers already.
I also liked that square. That magnet would come in handy cause when I'm squaring my tablesaw blade, I'm always knocking over my other square. What were those screws on the bottom though? Some sort of adjustment feature?
Not a fan of mechanical pencils though. Never have been. Ya can't sharpen them and "for me" they constantly break, and THEN, now I have to keep track of an inventory of extra lead of which ALWAYS grows legs and wanders off never to be found again. Good ol fashion #2 yellow pencils for me. Get a whole box of 20ct for 2 bucks. NEVER needed anything more....AND, the eraser end makes a good push stick for small cuts on the tablesaw and bandsaw too.
I liked the video....especially the "Merica" glasses cut in....made me laugh.
Thank you Mike!
Ha!! That magnetic square was literally what I've been looking for for my table saw. I can store it on my saw's cabinet as a dedicated tool. That way I don't waste time digging through my tool box to find my machinist square when I'm batching out projects. Great find!!
I have one that I keep stuck to my bandsaw for use. If you get one however, do something immediately to prevent rust ( wax, oil, coating) as it will rust.
@@ugaladh Thank you for the heads up.
Keep them coming Matt! Seems you and I are on the same page...ordered the pencils (I am a pen/pencil nut) and the Milwaukee tool. Thank you, Sir.
👊🏻
Hey hey from iowaaaaay! Noticed you have two number fours. I think we should get a bonus #5😂
lol I saw that too after it was live lol.
In line with your Pentel series pencils, give consideration to stepping away from the standard #2 lead and step up (down?) to a softer lead. I use 2B lead in my yellow (0.9mm) Pentels which is equivalent to about a #0. Much softer...don't need heavy pressure which may cause scoring or scratching, and the bold coloration of the marking is easier on this ol' man's eyes. I got a dozen 15 count tubes of Pentel branded lead in 2B on Amazon for under $20...a lifetime supply if you're pushing 70 with as short a stick as I am.
Thanks for the suggestion!
One of these type videos introduced me to a Japanese pull saw, which was the exact tool I needed to fix a problem that had stumped me for months. Thank you!! I'm a complete newbie and my projects so far have been small. Book nooks, coin box, dice storage unit. Your channel has quickly become a favorite. I finally ordered a pocket hole jig (Masca) after wanting one for years! Love all of your shirts too!
I've got two of the .5mm versions of the pencil and I SWEAR (not really) by them! Milwaukee tool has been ordered....from your link!
Oh yay! Another woodworking video. Oh, wait. No, just another “buy this” video. I miss your woodworking channel, Matt.
Great Video!!!! Thanks So Much!!!! 👍👊
I like the non ratcheting Wera screwdriver as it extends if you want it too, or can keep collapsed to save space.
You can also remove the hole center part to use in a drill or whatever. And it has the storage in handle too.
Something very satisfying about the mechanisms
#1
The Fastcap square it’s not etched so the measurements get erased over time , they sent me a second one and same shit
Awesome stuff buddy! Hey have you ever used the Triton MSA200 Multi Stand before? If so, any thoughts on it?
I haven't used that yet. Looks very well made and super useful though!
I really like that you added "to see" to the title.
I'm really glad you've gone mostly product reviews, bought several things already. I know you've got no less love for projects you're just in that content creation game here. Gotta pay the bills!
could you please send me the info for ordering those base plates for the routers. thank you in advance...
They are linked in the pinned comment and the description.
Hey Matt! Love the videos and the fact that you love the Lord and its a clean channel! Thank you! Unless I have missed it do you have a beginner budget friendly jigsaw recommend video? If not can we get one in the future? Thank you for the great work you both do! God bless!
Thank you! I don't have a video on that yet, it's a good idea! I would look at something like the Skil Jigsaw. It's highly rated and under $50 www.amazon.com/SKIL-Amp-Corded-Saw-JS314901/dp/B07FD341YS/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=4WOPACJH7MHC&keywords=jigsaw&qid=1676224455&sprefix=jigsa%2Caps%2C205&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFRUUUxMlFPNFhCUlcmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1MTc2MTQzUVpEV0wyVlhQMEM4JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA0NzcxODdUMlJBVkpEQ0FQSEomd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

Thank you for the help! I'll probably order it tonight! 🙏
I received the jigsaw this week! Thank you for the recommendation! It's heavier than I thought it would be but I can't wait to use it!
I've seen a bunch of pocket knife reviewers, tool user/reviewers and others that all love that Milwaukee fastback box cutter driver. One reviewer is Zack from the Zack in the wild channel he does a bunch of different things from fixing and riding motorcycles, home repair, long west to east coast road trips and several other things and Zack loves his Fastback
If you see this I could use some advice on destressing. My wife and I recently purchased an old kitchen table with 5 chairs that was made by Drexel Furniture (from our research). My wife is down to two choices in colors, grey top with white legs, and what she's come across recently, Robin's Egg Blue (she found this color from a site that sells retro kitchen appliances). Not only will i be looking through your videos for the stressing technique but what I need help with is would you pain the table black first for both options or would you paint white first or something else for lighter colors such as that blue? Or do you just paint everything the color you want and sand down to the wood?
I would paint it all with the base color first. So if you want black to show through, use that first. Or if you want wood to show through, just paint it the top coat color. In this video I paint a dark color first, then a contrasting light color. Then sand off a little at a time until you get the look you want ruclips.net/user/shortsVc0rwTy6GKU?feature=share
@@731Woodworks thank you! That video is major help! My wife seems to think I'm a pro diy wood worker lol. I mean it does get me "pro parking" at lowes so it's got its perks 😂
@@731Woodworks oh, if you don't mind me asking one more question. What's a good clear protective coat that's food grade to put on table once done?
@731 Woodworks, Have to tried or seen a Pica-Dry Longlife Automatic Pencil 3030 yet???
Not yet. I need to get one in the shop.
@@731Woodworks I just ordered one with replacement lead too, ha ha ha!!!
👊
A friend of mine handed me that Milwaukee knife yesterday while I was doing some electrical work for him. I said, “fancy” He has everything Milwaukee
Shout out KC Tool! There's a lot of great USA brands, but I do love me some Wera, Knipex, Wiha, Felo.... LOL! Def eyeing the 6-In-1! Shout out: Wha? Topo Chico!(?) My local pizza spot sells Topo Chico! Good way to wet yer whistle in a neutral way and have a nice experience! Thank you for making so many great vidz! Those Pentel mech pencils are on my list!
unfortunately the square is unavailable.
Sorry, probably sold out.
@@731Woodworks No worries, i'll keep it on watch. Thank you for what you do.
Uhhh... need to change that second "#4" to #5. In case you already didn't know...
yep, saw it too late to change, it was already live.
😁
This is my EDC knife.
-It never needs sharpening
-It is a real screwdriver
-It has a nice clip
-It is as thin as a regular knife
Good knife.
Wera is great, but Inbus Flow is a way better option for screwdriver with rachet.
Inbus isn't as readily available in the U.S.
Aww, isn't that cute. That is a magic pencil. Some great ideas of course it's all Chinese. But hey.
5 under $50... gotta love inflation lol
lol well technically they are all $30 or less with the exception of the Wera screwdriver. I almost left that out for that reason lol
@@731Woodworks hahaha
Mercia 😂😂🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Favorite was definitely the Milwaukee Fastback. A buddy let me barrow his for a job and it is so much better than my Dewalt utility knife
The most used tool in your shop is a utility knive/multi tool? You're officially a marketer now, rather than a woodworker. I guess that's the American way...
🙄 read through the comments. Lots of people love the multi-tool.
@@731Woodworks no doubt the tool is changing lives enabling people to achieve they're wildest dreams. Keep up the Lord's work sir 👍🏻
I'm a Glazier and use it every single day at work!
C'mon man. You can use that AlaMilwookie to force 200 people into submission while you fly a jet into a building. The only thing that happens is the Milwoookee blades are so tough they slice right through 100 stories and free fall the building. That's a KNIFE
In the UK EDC knife means prison. Yes, you must have a reason to have it on you, otherwise they will put you to jail, humiliate you and kick you in your head. It used to be called Great Britain.
The pencils, you keep saying point zero nine. You mean point nine.
another drunk
drunk?
Running out of ideas?
Nope. This is a series on the channel called 5 Tools
@@731Woodworks I just feel like I’ve seen the same video with different tools a half dozen times. Didn’t realize it was a “series”
@@Fishing-gs9ku the Wera screwdriver I did a short on last year but haven't included it in one of these full videos.
