Long Live Rock 'n' Roll (LIVE 1982 SAN ANTONIO) Rainbow 1982: Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar Joe Lynn Turner - Vocals Bobby Rondinelli - Drums David Rosenthal - Keyboards Roger Glover - Bass
Hey MetalSonic and Mark, Blackmore does this on the 1977 - Live in Munich DVD during the last song which is Do You Close Your Eyes. If you have not seen that DVD . . .check it out.
He did however smash his #1 strat by accident. His guitar tech (a dear friend of mine), handed it to him by mistake and he smashed his beloved #1. Thankfully Ritchie loved this guy and did not fire him. SO, from that day up to present he uses his #2 as his #1. And, yes, he does # his guitars. The one in this video is his #2 that became his #1.
My understanding was Ritchie or someone in the organization scored a bunch of Hondo copies really cheap. What they did on many nights was to salvage the broken guitar instead of throwing it into the audience, and glue it back together to use again. They did that in Indianapolis on this tour.
@@Tolbens Ritchie rejoined Deep Purple in late 83. It had nothing to do with Joe. He did it for the money. He only intended to rejoin Deep Purple for a short time, and go back to Rainbow. Both Joe and Ritchie were mislead by management and so Ritchie stayed with Deep Purple despite the fact that his relationship with Ian deteriorated. He obviously thought highly of Joe which is why he was chosen to sing for Deep Purple after Ian was sacked in 89.
@@jonnyrainbow1 I agree with you about Ritchie and money. That's why Rainbow turned to pop/rock after Glover joined the band. Also, everyone knows the relationship Blackmore/Gillan. The matter with Deep Purple was who would be the boss. So as soon as Gillan couldn't sing properly, Ritchie kicked him out and hired Turner but I think he was too pop singer for the band. After the return of Gillan he became the new leader. After all these stories I can say that I really enjoyed the latest Rainbow lineup with the Spanish singer and the way they found and approached him. All the musicians are also very good.
@TheJohnnyCotts thank u...don't do credit card, i m afraid...so, youtubing is the only way to watch this performance...cheers! long live ritchie blackmore! jan, singapore
I like Joe Lynn Turner (JLT) as a person - from the interviews I have listened to - and love his Rainbow work. HOWEVER< he needs to steer clear of the Ronnie James Dio. Graham Bonnet who has a way stronger voice could barely get away with Long Live Rock and Roll & Man on the Silver Mountain. JLT has turned Long Live Rock and Roll into a cabaret number. Long Live Rock and Roll is one of my favourite albums and I also like the song. Ritchie what were you thinking ....
Was he laughing, I know this is one concert I've played over and over. After watching Ritchie I swear I can play freaking inspired, for about 10-minutes then it wears off and I'm back to twang twang ah screw it.
TheJacksonMaster....NOOO Blackmore was HIMSELF, doing what he does BEST...being insanely awesome and INTO IT! Apparently you were drunk while watching this... BAHAHAHAHA!
I feel Richard Black Marsh was at one with his guitar. I consider myself to be the worlds leading rainbow historian. The singer here is not the original rainbow singer. He is in fact rainbows second singer and he was employed after the death of Ronnie James Dio.
gary pilgrim every incarnation was Rainbow. It evolved as Ritchie dictated. Rock and Pop Rock. He's now come back to give us a swan song. All musicians (27 or so) featured were immensely talented and right for their time.
The greatest live guitarist when he felt the crowd was enjoying the show Ritchie always does something special.

Plus, the Stratocaster solo was a nice new touch!

I love how he puts the actual Strat away, smashes a crappy copy, then goes back to the Fender :P

Ritchie was a maniac 😂😂😂😂
interesting they played this in E rather than original key of G - Dio was a fantastic singer!
Had to adjust the song for JLTs vocals.
Turner sings lower from E and acts like 80s pop idol... that's why Ritchie would make the Deep Purple MK2 soon.

If you really have to smash a guitar, smash a copy. Better yet, smash an hologram and give the copy away for the next Ritchie.
David Rosenthal is the world best Keyboard player in the world.
wow the guitar couldn't keep up with his speed...
But the fourth album is with Graham Bonnet.

Ritchie is drunk here. But still the best.
TheJacksonMaster don think so
TheJacksonMaster this things are planed before
Ritchie Merino apparently he was crying before the show and just wanted to get it over and done with
TheJacksonMaster RJD was indeed a masterful singer and yes his voice "made" that era of Rainbow just as it defined RJD's solo career. RIP Ronnie

can you please tell me what order the song list is from start to finish of the show ?
This song is not meant for Turners style of vocals at all.

dio sings it better
fuck you,ass

the entire portion of Ritchie Blackmore abusing the guitar is just really crap.. Jimi Hendrix facepalmed during this video.
