Claire Foy's "I will destroy any living thing that tries to harm my child" monologue alone proves how well deserved this Oscar was and how Claire was absolutely robbed of a nomination
Claire and Jessie were absolutely robbed for at least a nomination. Fuck mean, I can't take my off from their amazing performances, too obsessed from the way they carry the movie from start to finish
Ok, Claire Foy deserved a nomination. But adapted screenplay was a weak category this year. And the Academy could have done nothing to make it better.
@@Leonardoeditor37 So what movie you think it should be nominated to make it stronger? Thor Love and Thunder? 😂😂
Women Talking is by far the most deserving win in this category
@@Leonardoeditor37 it was weak even in general the whale and she said were weak too after yang had no passion so women talking is de deserving
@@Fl0k5ser What movie from the weak year of 2022? What's the difference? Again: the Academy could have done nothing to make it better.
Love her since Dawn or the Dead
I came to this video because I was watchin The movie
She was fuckin awesome in that role.
And now she got an Oscar
Wow!😮
Amaizing woman
Congratulations, Sarah. 🇨🇦❤️🤍
This is in my opinion one of the most deserving win of this year's Oscar. Love all the nominees but Women Talking is truly the best, poetic writing from Sarah and I'm so happy that she won the Oscar. And I'm surprised how loud the cheer was when her name was announced the winner, so happy for that and I love the hug that she got from Jessie Buckley, Rooney Mara and Sheila McCarthy, had to reply it many times because I love the solidarity of this team. Congrats to Sarah 👏
@@Bank_TP with a standing what ?
Up. I agree.
Just for the scene in which Ona apologizes to Mariche, saying that she doesn't want to cause her more harm because they already suffered too much, she deserves an Oscar.
Truly deserved! After watching the film, the words still stick with me. Please watch if you haven’t already!
The Sweet Hereafter is where I first saw her act. She’s a talent that’s for sure.
should have been nominated for best supporting actress IMO that year. Her cover of The Hip's Courage is brilliant.
From actres to writer/director..
Watch out Hollywood
Sarah is now becoming one of the fresh talented director.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Her achievement in directing this film is at least as deserving as the screenplay. It's not easy to shoot a bunch of women talking in a barn and make it visually interesting.
Rooney doing all she can to not have to stand up 💀💀💀
I just noiticed byee 👺
Finally, a Director/writer from my home city of Toronto wins an Oscar.
Also This is the fifth ceremony in a row where the film’s director wins this award
(2018) Spike Lee - BlackKklansman
(2019) Taika Waititi - Jojo Rabbit
(2020) Florian Zeller - The Father
(2021) Sian Hader - CODA
(2022) Sarah Polley - Women Talking
I think Sarah is the best winner amongs all the Best Adapted Screenplay win in the past 5 years
They are 94 Canadian Academy Award winners.
I grew up knowing Sarah Polley as Sara Stanley in "Road to Avonlea" who, by the time the series ended, had decided that she wanted to pursue a career as a writer, forgoing societal convention. There is a poignancy in watching Sarah Polley in adulthood step away from the fame she could have had as an actress in order to pursue a career that made her more fulfilled, and then see her excellence recognized in the field that she chose. She may have been unhappy in her time as a child star, but I think she's now living a life that Sara Stanley would have been extremely proud of.
So glad she finally won an Oscar. Such a talented actress, writer, and filmmaker.
SO HAPPY Sarah Polley got HER moment after Women Talking didn't received the attention it deserved during this last award season. Great script, great performances, great movie! Hope they'll release a dvd in Italy as soon as possible.
If you're talking about BAFTA, Polley said that the voters didn't receive screener link and the movie hasn't been released in the UK, that's why her entire team and cast got snubbed
@@Fl0k5ser talking about just everything! Guðnadóttir’s score, the cast, the movie itself definitely deserved more attention by guilds and groups
@@Fl0k5ser really i thought they snubbed it
@@fippo3564 Oh absolutely, such a shame that it only got two noms. Best Original Score, Claire and Jessie should've been nominated. But for now i'm glad the movie took home an Oscar in one of the top prize
@@Fl0k5ser All Quiet on the Western Front was a worthy BAFTA winner though. The counterattack with the French Tanks, the trench warfare sequences, the horrific sequence of repairing uniforms from recently killed troops, the latter of which has no dialogue.
Many great adaptations have won in this category:
- The Godfather
- The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
- No Country for Old Men
- To Kill a Mockingbird
- The Social Network
etc
Omg I just rewatching Dawn of The Dead and check on wikipedia how is she going on in present and found this just WOW, she’s so so talented.
EXACTLY the same scenario.
ME RIGHT NOW
Me right now x2
Blowmind 🤯
Sarah Polley looks stunning on the thumbnail.
Sarah Polley Wins Best Adapted Screenplay. Time to credit the writers.
2nd year in a row where a woman wins in this category!!! Congrats!!!
I screamed so much this award🤩😭❤ i loved this movie SO MUCH, and Sarah's speech was amazing too
And quite possibly the biggest surprise I got was when Florence Pugh announced her name, she got one of the loudest cheer as if she won Best Picture when she really just won Best Adapted Screenplay and I'm so happy for that
I wish more people saw this movie.
Congratularions Sarah Polley. 🏆👏👏👏👏👏
You and Charlotte Wells also deserved to be nominated for Best Director. 💯💯💯
In terms of dialogue, I'd say this is the best Adapted Screenplay winner since Social Network! Thank you Ms. Polley for giving us this beautiful movie. 👏👏👏👏
This is one of those times where a tie was justified. Women Talking may have had lengthy monologues but AQOTWF had a lot of technical showcase scenes. People forget that even non dialogue moments such as those trench battle sequences had to be scripted.
She should have mentioned the Mennonite Community and dedicated it to them
How would that make sense when the movie shits all over them. It makes them seem monstrous when in reality, only a fraction of a fraction of the men of the community committed SA against women, and once the other men found out who they were, they acted swiftly to have them removed from the community and handed over to authorities. This movie makes it seem like all the males of the community were trained to commit acts of violence and sexual abuse against the women.
A well-deserved Oscar
how is knives out adapted i don't get it
I want her career
I wish Women Talking had more nominations.
Amazing screenplay...such a phenomenally made movie...it is the 12 Angry Men of the 21st century
*"Women Talking has great screenplay"*
*(how's that jwelch5742 ? I said it first)*
Legend
I can't wait to see what movie she makes next.
I have huge crush on this women. She is so talented and beautiful
Should've been All Quiet on the Western Front. No doubt about it.
Long live Sarah Polley!!
1:11
I love her since Dawn of the Dead
Academy Award winner Sarah Polley 👍👍👍
Sooner or later she will win a best director award mark my words she will.
Meanwhile BAFTA winners Edward Beger, Ian Stokewell & Leslie Paterson
Kazuo..
Women Talking has more Oscars than Fablemans, Banshees, Tar, The Batman, Babylon, Triangle of Sadness and Elvis.
Congrats!!!
Top Gun Maverick and/or All Quiet on The Western Front should have won
Lmao no
@@IvanMejia1991 why?
I've been a fan of Sarah since the 90s, all the way when she was in Road to Avonlea. A childhood of mine so to see her become an Oscar winner was absolutely amazing, she has my vote when I saw her movie. Away From Her was great, Take This Waltz was great, Stories We Tell was great, but Women Talking imo was her best movie from both directing and writing effort
Peter 2 y Yelena presentando 😂😂😂😂
I didn't know her before Women Talking, and I immediately liked her as a person and as a director and screenwriter!😉
I’m so happy for her, compliments to Sarah Polley!!🤩👏🏻👏🏻
Should have been
The Black Phone
Top Gun Maverick
Till
Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinnochio
Mrs Harris Goes To Paris
Winner Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinnochio
This was a long time coming!
Rooney and Jessie 😍
Yes, we saw them.
Women Talking is a solid film but I feel its script feels very theatrical and doesn't translate well to film.
All the others in the category do a better job of adaptation. While I don't mind the winner, there were better choices to take the award.
Well, everyone has their opinion and we all know it, although I would have liked All Quiet on the western front or Top Gun Maverick to win, there is the fact that Sarah Polley deserved it or not and not because I didn't like her movie, on the contrary, I liked how I adapted it, but my annoyance is that I turned it into a feminist discourse and it's not so bad, it's just an opinion.
What I like about adaptations is how the writer(s) take any established work; book, play, etc.; and bring it to life for film (or TV)
I was not surprised on that category at all, it was obvious women talking was going to win adapted screenplay
All Quiet on the Western Front was right there though.
@nickyoude2694 yeah
All Quiet should have won this. The way that movie could convey the horrors and chaos of war sometimes without dialogue is astonishing. Take for instance the scene with the uniforms of the dead being cleaned up and repaired to give to the next batch of recruits. There isn't a moment of dialogue in that entire sequence yet it immaculately conveyed the message that provisions during that war was so limited that they were basically grave robbing so to speak to make do. Then there's the trench battle sequences one of which involving tanks and flamethrowers which was essentially short hand for new threats incoming.
boohoo no
one of the most deserved screenplay wins there is a reason it won cca , wga and usc scripter also women talking is the first screenplay winner since Talk to her to win with no acting and techs noms
Best Adapted Screenplay properly should have been
The Black Phone
Top Gun Maverick
Till
Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinnochio
When You Finish Saving The World
Winner Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinnochio
When You Finish Saving The World will probably be eligible for next year's Oscars.
@@EamonKelly 2024
@@jaysanvictores3212 Yes, that is next year.
@@EamonKelly ok
@@jaysanvictores3212 what other nominations for that one?
I wanted Rian Johnson to win but Women Talking was also a good movie as well so this was deserved
One of the few deserved awards of that ceremony.
woW, Sarah Polley!! I like her🧡🧡
This wasn't a movie. It was a filmed stage play more concerned with a message than themes. Can't believe this won.
What should have took the place?
@@emiliobello2538 Kind of a weak year for the category but maybe Living or Glass Onion.
@@HBarnill i meant in nomination?
@@emiliobello2538 Catherine Called Birdy?

The second Spider-Man and the Black Widow's sister presenting together.
Overrated af
She's looks fun 😂😂😂😂how did top gun not win over this
The award is for “Adapted screenplay”.
Women Talking screenplay was a great adaptation from the book and, the dialogue was kind of a huge point of the story: “talking”.
The visuals on top gun were good but, the screenplay was regular.
It was a lousy year for Adaptations. The 5 nominees were very weak. Women talking won only to give a Fanservice for women.
That’s not what fanservice means.
🥰😍🤩🙏👏🙌. I know right!! 🙆♀️
The worst Oscar winner of the night. All Quiet on the Western Front is the real winner, even if Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was nominated in the category it would also easily beat Women Talking.
Be clear that I do not say that I do not like the films directed by Sarah Polley. Away From Her (2006) and Take This Waltz (2011) are very good.
Agreed. I think The Black Phone should have been nominated in place. And Gulliermo Del Toro’s Pinnochio should have been nominated here and won
It's the least nominated Best Picture nominee yet it still won.
proves that numbers of noms don't matter in screenplay category other examples are talk to her , eternal sunshine and her in the original screenplay category
Top Gun Should have won. Woman talking non sence !
While it would stand no chance to win, The Whale deserved to be nominated in this category
or She Said
@@dariussalepetru6770 nah She Said is a very basic and mediocre biopic
The Batman deserved to get nominated
The Oscars voters have a better opinion than anybody else, and I trust them.
I thought All Quiet would win but this was nice.
This proves that The Oscars are bullshit. This movie is absolute dogshit, but somehow still won an award.
although its WHITE woman talking, welp, tell me more about opression
