Both are goods, but the african traditional solo is very powerful.

The African dude sounds African, so to speak, and plays the traditional solo. The American guy sounds forced and wants to dominate. However he is gluing all the phrases together and not really speaking Solo, which is played at the wrong speed. Usual forcing of the tempo. This ain't hip hop

I keep seeing these comments about Weedie. Listen to Bassidi Kone. Him and Weedie play similar. Maybe its the speed thats throwing you off. Try focusing on Dun Duns and accompaniment youll here the phrases better. BTW where do you think hip hop beats originate from?? hmm? its all tied together.

KNON 24 very superficial answer. Are you Black?

haha How is that even relevant? I used to get thrown off by the speed as well, especially while playing, until my teacher suggested the same. I listened and it worked. I was genuinely suggesting an easier way to hear the phrases inside the rhythm by listening to the other parts, because thats the way I learned. But clearly you took offense so disregard my comment. Also, lots of music originates from west african drumming I only said hip hop because you mentioned it. But if you cant hear it you cant hear it.*shrugs* Keep listening, it will click eventually.

KNON 24 why? Because you give a typical answer where you want to SCHOOL people, of course adding the history lesson as well (HH comes from Africa etc.), while missing the point completely, which is that the African dude is playing TRADITIONAL PHRASES for Solo, with the dundun, while the other guy is showing off, feeling in completion. Not to say then of what I had already said above. It seems to me that, if anything, you should be telling what you said to the guy in the video, if to anybody at all.
