Watched this to get an opinion and I got zilch!
Waste of time thanks for that
Hey good evening Steve, thank you for watching! Sorry you feel that way but the title states "you decide" , as in the viewer.
I run both once or twice a month, Im not a pro just a regular home owner with basic skills.
I really like both saws these are the biggest saws I have ever used.
The STIHL MS 291 is a very smooth strong saw.
The ECHO CS 590 has endless power and packs a punch.
Both are incredibly versatile .
Not sure if that helps out any?
But I will give you my opinion if it comes down to budget the ECHO all day!
Hopefully this doesn't waste anymore of your time
Nice reply@@joesoutdoorexperience
@@eardw2251 thank you Eardw, I hope you have a great day!
See ya! Better off without ya!!!!
I own both of these saws. I use my Echo cs590 for large trees and cuts. I use the Sthil ms291 for all around cutting. Together, these saws are all I'll ever need on my 5 acres.
They are both FANTASTIC SAWS!!
Good morning SzymczykProductions I am not sure why this comment just came across 3 days later! I tend to do the same thing. I feel like the CS590 is the first saw I grab all the time!
Thank you very much SzymczykProductions for not only taking the time out of your day to watch but to comment as well.
Joe
Fair review no garbage filler thumbs up!
Good morning Geterdone, thank you very much! I tried not to be bias.
Thank you Geterdone for taking time out of your day to not only watch but comment!
Joe
Good chainsaw video
Think the safety manual says to start chainsaw with brake engaged, then take off hi idle and disengage.
I bought the Echo Timberwolf, have run my buddies ms291 a bunch of times. And picked the Echo due to 5yr warranty & metal construction.
Stihl ms291 is a plastic clamshell stratocharged saw.
Echo cs590 has metal cases with bolt on cylinder.
Good evening zeromark202 thank you, and I have had a lot of people mention how much they love the echo CS590..
@@joesoutdoorexperience yeah bought it last year can hot rod them super easy now my 590 smokes buddies ms291.
Great channel, thx for quick comment back.
@@zeromark202 yes I see a lot of muffler mods and I have to go back into some comments a gentleman posted a video on how to remove the “fuel port restrictors” not sure if I said that correct.. No worries thank you for commenting! I’m very new to chainsaws and clearing land so I can’t lie I’m a little nervous to do any kind of modifications to any of the chainsaws when I’m still learning how to use them
@@joesoutdoorexperience Yes If I werent comfortable I wouldnt mess with it. I was cutting little boards building frames for my bee hive swarm trap on my table saw and yeah those blades dont care! I about cut my left hand index finger off! Good news its healing and ii still have most of it!
@@cityhomestead40 sheesh glad your ok!
When the 590 is ready for a new chain, try the oregon E70.
Good morning Cliff, I will start looking into that today! I like to have an extra chain on hand.. Thank you, hope your weekend is going well
I’ll take the Echo every time.
Good morning KSMike1 , yes I tend to grab the ECHO before my STIHL. It always starts and I have yet to have any issues with it.
Thank you KSMike1, for taking time out of your day to not only watch but to comment as well.
Joe
I've got the 590, ol Betsy is a beast! You're right, it says feed me Seymore!
Good morning Redwood, lol yes I love it! Question since I have to replace the stock chain, if you have replaced your chain what would you recommend?
Thank you for watching
Joe
Hey Joe Im not sure why but i prefer Stihl over any saw just because it beats the crap out of my old husqvarna ! over here from Stoney Ridge showing support! Cheers!
Good morning City Homestead thank you! I’m a huge fan of Josh SRF and he is the nicest , humble person I ever met. I have only ran a Husqvarna once. I think my STIHL cuts smoother but the ECHO just seems to cut and cut and never bog down..
@@joesoutdoorexperience Yeah I dream of one day owning property similar to what josh has worked for he ssems to have a good head on his shoulders! I appreciate the good review and hope to see ya over on my homestead channel Sir!
@@cityhomestead40 yes same! Once I’m done with these meetings I’m going to head over to your channel.
Echo kicks sthil ass
Neither saw bogged in that wood, which looks soft. So which one cuts better comes down to the chain. Looks like the Stihl has a bit more aggressive chain. Stihl and Echo both make great saws.
I have a top handle Stihl, and an Echo CS-590. I MUCH prefer the starting procedure on the Echo. I can often get the much larger Echo started more easily than the Stihl.
Good morning Gearhead366 , I can not lie for some reason I always grab my ECHO first and they sit right next to each other on the shelf. To "me" I just feel like its just so aggressive and always ready!! But I am just an average homeowner.
I have to get a new chain for the CS590 what do you prefer to use?
Thank you very much for watching and commenting
Joe
@@joesoutdoorexperience I'm no chainsaw expert. I'm pretty good with small engines, but haven't done much with chainsaws until recently. It just seemed that the Echo wasn't under a full load cutting this wood. It was over reving a bit. The Stihl cut faster, but it seemed to be under more of a load while cutting. Which means that the chain on the Stihl was digging harder. I don't know enough about chains to have preference yet. But unless you're cutting a LOT of wood, the stock chain will probably work just fine. If you find yourself spending more time than you want running the saw, go with a more aggressive chain. A "full-chisel" chain. I expect the stock chain on my CS-590 to do everything I need it to. I'm not going to be running a firewood business, or a tree felling business. I just need to clear a bunch of downed trees from my property.
@@gearhead366 well I couldn’t agree with you more! Well stay safe , and thank you
can i put a 18in bar on the 590?:
Good afternoon MrAlternation, I believe the 590's come with either 18,20,24 in bars. I do apologies for the delayed response i am not sure why this comment came across 4 days later.
Thank you for watching
Joe
I know this isn't on this saw but I have a stihl 261 with a 18" bar on it that is probably my favorite saw.
Ohh really I will look into that’s.. I have a RYOBI with a 16” bar and maybe because I’m so used to it but I LOVE that little chainsaw..
Echo in the right hands slight muff mod and tune will smoke that sthil
I keep hearing about muffler mods but from what I understand is I have to make one!
I would put a 24" light bar on that echo!
Good morning Benjamin, I will look into that. I can tell you one thing going from a 16" bar to a 20" bar has made a huge difference.
If you mod the carb & muffler the cs590 will handle the 24” bar just fine. Otherwise it will struggle significantly in oak hickory locust etc. basically hard wood..So…20” is best performance for firewood saw.. especially cd590..👍
Steel is a lot better than echo. I have a 291 on excellent great video.👍
Good morning Deanmoore420, I have a question for you do you have trouble starting your 291 up after it runs/ cuts for about 10 mins?
Thank you very much Dean for taking time out of your day to not only watch but to comment as well.
Joe
@@joesoutdoorexperience no never had any issues like that. Usually when it’s real hot, I don’t choke it and it starts right back up.
Sheesh ok thats good then. Im having an issue after I run it for the first time that day and shut it down. It does not want to start back up at all. I have to let it sit for 10-15 mins almost like its flooded.
Echo by a mile
Good morning, I truly do not have a favorite. But for some reason the ECHO is my go to every time.
Thank you for watching
Joe
Stihl is much better. Cheers
Good morning Frank, that’s what I keep reading explains why almost all the professional guys use them.. But the two time I have used the ECHO I can not notice a difference (yet).
Echo is a good saw, put the best chain on it that you can and use ethanol free gas and you'll get better results
Good afternoon Woofman, yes I run non ethanol in all my small engines and boat! What chain would you recommend as of now I have purchased 1 and it was the same stock chain.
Thank you very much Woofman for not only taking the time out of your day to watch but to comment as well.
Joe
@joesoutdoorexperience I don't know the various brands of chains, when I took my saw to my local echo dealer a few years ago to get the primer bulb replaced, I asked for the best chain they had, I didn't ask the brand
Ok, no problem at all sounds like what I do LOL!! Well Ill go back to my dealer and see what they say when I need a new chain. Thank you again
Echo makes good stuff but I would pass on their chainsaws, the 590 is alot heavier and ad you put wear on the 590 I noticed the noises coming from the clutch gets louder everytime i used it, power wise it’s a strong saw, I would take the stihl for weight and reliability.
David sorry for the late response! I will keep this in mind as of now it only has about 2 hours on it. Thank you
Wrong
@@43dukedog lol I love the fact you just responded with “wrong” hahaha 😂😂
@@43dukedog I probably have had over 30 different models of saws, some echo, husky, stihl, i buy them and test them and rebuild many that are burned up off ebay, after testing them i sell them and i can just say the echoes just don’t sell because they are considered homeowner grade crap!
Chłopie 590 jest niezawodna:) nie wiesz co piszesz :)
stihl is faster;;
Yes I think so too and it feels smoother, but the ECHO is a close.
My 590 would e cutting better than that. Your chain must be dull.
Hey PHS1990J, hope all is well. It’s a brand new saw and chain right from the dealer.. I’m sure a lot of how it performs is all me I’m not used to how big and powerful it is. I’m still very new to felling trees everything I have learned is from RUclips and everyone who takes the time to comment and provide education.
I have a Stihl chainsaw and echo blowers and trimmers at my landscaping company. If it’s a brand new echo it usually takes a good 4-5 tanks of fuel for them to really start running to full power. Atleast that’s what I notice with my 2620 trimmers and 9010 blowers. That could be why yours is faster
@@Tcw2019 good evening TC93 , thank you I asked the dealer they said run a few tanks in it and I may see a difference! To me my 590 works great I’m still nervous felling trees and bucking them up. It’s something I’m learning slowly. Thank you for the kind words
I am pretty sure the echo chain was dull too. My first thought when I seen it run.
Both too rich
