Hey good evening Steve, thank you for watching! Sorry you feel that way but the title states "you decide" , as in the viewer.
I run both once or twice a month, Im not a pro just a regular home owner with basic skills.
I really like both saws these are the biggest saws I have ever used.
The STIHL MS 291 is a very smooth strong saw.
The ECHO CS 590 has endless power and packs a punch.
      Both are incredibly versatile .
Not sure if that helps out any?
But I will give you my opinion if it comes down to budget the ECHO all day!
Hopefully this doesn't waste anymore of your time

    Good chainsaw video
Think the safety manual says to start chainsaw with brake engaged, then take off hi idle and disengage.
I bought the Echo Timberwolf, have run my buddies ms291 a bunch of times. And picked the Echo due to 5yr warranty & metal construction.
Stihl ms291 is a plastic clamshell stratocharged saw.
Echo cs590 has metal cases with bolt on cylinder.

    • @jimbanton3820
      @jimbanton3820 Год назад

If you mod the carb & muffler the cs590 will handle the 24” bar just fine. Otherwise it will struggle significantly in oak hickory locust etc. basically hard wood..So…20” is best performance for firewood saw.. especially cd590..👍

Neither saw bogged in that wood, which looks soft. So which one cuts better comes down to the chain. Looks like the Stihl has a bit more aggressive chain. Stihl and Echo both make great saws.
I have a top handle Stihl, and an Echo CS-590. I MUCH prefer the starting procedure on the Echo. I can often get the much larger Echo started more easily than the Stihl.

Good morning Gearhead366 , I can not lie for some reason I always grab my ECHO first and they sit right next to each other on the shelf. To "me" I just feel like its just so aggressive and always ready!! But I am just an average homeowner.

@@joesoutdoorexperience I'm no chainsaw expert. I'm pretty good with small engines, but haven't done much with chainsaws until recently. It just seemed that the Echo wasn't under a full load cutting this wood. It was over reving a bit. The Stihl cut faster, but it seemed to be under more of a load while cutting. Which means that the chain on the Stihl was digging harder. I don't know enough about chains to have preference yet. But unless you're cutting a LOT of wood, the stock chain will probably work just fine. If you find yourself spending more time than you want running the saw, go with a more aggressive chain. A "full-chisel" chain. I expect the stock chain on my CS-590 to do everything I need it to. I'm not going to be running a firewood business, or a tree felling business. I just need to clear a bunch of downed trees from my property.

I have a Stihl chainsaw and echo blowers and trimmers at my landscaping company. If it’s a brand new echo it usually takes a good 4-5 tanks of fuel for them to really start running to full power. Atleast that’s what I notice with my 2620 trimmers and 9010 blowers.
