I’m hoping that Fujifilm lets you keep the lens and considers you an ambassador for all things photography/videography that are beautifully done with their equipment.
Hehe i should screenshot those and send it to Fujifilm! Ah I hope they do, that would be absolutely amazing! I had to send the lens back unfortunately but maybe if they make me an ambassador then I can pick that lens ☺️🙏🏻
Awwww hehehe so kind!! Thank you ☺️🙈 i’m so glad you enjoy them, a lot Of time and energy goes into making them all, so it’s lovely that you enjoy them! ☺️🙏🏻
You can use it with the regular x2 teleconverter as well if needed. The only issue, as the x2 isn't tuned to the lens, is that you get a dreamy glow wide open (which I quite like in some scenarios). Stopping down by 2/3 to 1 stop cleans everything up again. I love mine. Keep up the great work, I love your naturalistic and practical lens reviews.
This is a hidden gem of a video, absolutely rich in content and information. The footage you captured should be the first thing you see when looking up this lens on Fuji's official sites (I mean that). Current reviews and footage is taken on OLD cameras, nothing recent! Considering the free positive advertising they benefit from this review... you most definitely should get the lens for free. An advert at this level would cost Fuji 5x the cost of this lens. Who paid for your flights, accommodation, food, salary etc. I understand that when Fuji loan gear out not everyone can produce the content worthy of keeping said item, but not everyone can do what you have managed here Victoria, and for that you should be handsomely paid, or at the very least a ridiculously heavily discount to go towards the lens. Thank you sincerely for this review.
I am very sorry that I much have missed this lovely comment but catching up now! Such kind words and I cannot thank you enough! I would absolutely love this lens for free, I will keep crossing my fingers and see if Fuji will give it to me! Unfortunately not though, I pay for all my gear, trips and do the editing myself, but sometimes I wonder if that is what makes the difference - it is done from the heart and out of choice rather than anything else. Who knows but I will still keep making videos regardless and I really appreciate this lovely comment. Thank you so much 🙂
Another amazing review! User experience is far more valuable than a technical review, so please keep doing your reviews like you do now. 😁💪 What a superb lens. Chunky, white and precious, just like Erik! 😉
Aww thank you! It’s how my mind words when I am looking for things “does it work?” “How does it perform” I am quite simple in that respect! And I will keep doing my reviews like it! Thank you! Hahaha i didn’t think of it like that! The two would go perfect together. If Fuji gave me one I would call it Erik the 2nd!
That lens looks so good. And you made some amazing photos and videos with it! I'm envious of the lens, and your photos and videos, and your editing! Everything looks so good! Thanks for sharing your amazing work!
Its a great lens. Im on my second one since the release. Pure workhorse, but need a camera to be as good for fast sport. Great review. The best price for a ”300mm f/2.8”.
I bought this lens last year and it is amazing! It's worth every penny and any sore shoulders I might get after a day with it. Thanks for the wonderul happy review.
Great video, thanks for sharing your experience. How noisy was the OIS? When you turned it off (as it appears to be in some of your footage) did that turn off the OIS motors?
Hi Victoria, Another wonderful lens review, and what a lens !! The most expensive of the X-series lenses. This is a fantastic tool, and it looks like it matches both X-H2 & X-H2S cameras very well. I'm working with GFX cameras, and I can't imagine a lens like this for the system, it would be fabulous but "un-buyable" !! ha ha I'm glad I found great lenses to use for my work, but there's always great tools to try, everywhere. Take good care and thank you. Colin
Great content as always and amazing pictures. Maybe you should consider producing calendars ( if you haven't already), birds/animals and landscapes as you have a fabulous portfolio of pictures. Keep doing what you are doing as many followers enjoy your channel.
Awe this is sooo lovely! Thank you! And no, I haven’t done calendars but maybe I should do. I need to get a website up and running - it is in the making. But I like this idea, it’s very lovely! Thank you for watching and leaving very encouraging and supportive words, it makes it all worthwhile 🙂🙏🏻
Victoria, thank you for an impressive series of videos on this 200 f/2 prime lens. As a previous comment stated, Fuji should give you the lens or offer you a deep discount especially if you are able to sell some lenses for them. What struck me the most was the 3200 ISO you needed to even shoot stills at 1/250 sec. at f/2. The IQ is simply wonderful. Did you use any noise reduction on these images? I can see why you stated in a previous video that the XF 150-600 lens f/5.6-8 could not keep up with the prime in such low light. Still, any parting comments about the usability of this zoom lens with the X-H2s camera? Looking forward to your next adventure...
Wonderful shots and sequences💚🙏 That 200mm f2 is simply gorgeous. I had it on loan couple of times and it over delivered each time! This video made me want to re-invest in Fuji again haha.
As always, incredible content! I do own this lens. I really lucked out. I found a used copy in good condition that had a damaged lens hood - I was able to buy it for less than half of the market price. Its my goto lens for wildlife and outdoor event photography. I sincerely hope something opens up for you to own this lens. Your talent and creative eye shows me you are someone who should have this lens. Maybe see if Fuji would be interested in having you as an ambassador. I don't know if being an ambassador would allow access to gear, but you should have this lens.
The test I have been waiting from you for months! This lens seems to be so amazing but when watching your bears series I could not that easily find out which one was from the 200mm and which one was from the 150-600. And they have the same aspect and mood making it very very smooth to move from one pix to the other. Is that due to youtube compression ? Could you tell us about this duo? Again congratulations for this test and this amazing series in Slovania.
This lens has been on my radar for some time. I live in South Africa and have the privilege of having access to African wildlife within 2000km from home. Is this lens suitable for wildlife photography and birding? Often subject can be more than 75m from where i am in a vehicle (we dont walk around the national parks). Id be interested in your thoughts. The bears i guess were pretty close by, photographed from a hide??
Ooo that is a tricky question, my first thought it maybe no it wouldn't be enough for what you would be needing it for. I think at least a 400mm - especially for birds would work better for you. You could try the 200mm with the teleconverter but I have also heard Fujifilm will be releasing a 500mm for the XF series later on in this year so maybe wait for that :)
That is a very tricky decision as my 100-400mm worked fantastic on safari. I definitely would pick the 200mm for the gorilla trek as the forest was quite dark. I would love to go back out on safari with the 200 just to see how it gets on and the softness of images. I would go with a teleconverter if I did 🙂
@@wildandfreevictoriathank you for the reply. Going to tsavo West, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, and Masai Mara in September. I’ve watched all your safari and bear videos. Difficult choice on which lens to choose haven’t used either haha.
You say that you borrowed the lens and don't want to buy it because of the high price. That's how I feel too. However, when you look at your photos, you really want to have it. Do you still mourn him?
Yes it is a high price for us mortals! 😄 i do miss the lens a lot, it was a beauty and sung to my heart but yes, just a bit too expensive unfortunately!
And no problem Dominic, well the price varies from country to country as does currency so it depends on where you live but a quick google search will tell you this. Same for the weight which is 2265 g (4.99 lb) ✌🏻
In your opinion, which is better between the xh2 and the xh2s with the 200mm for wildlife photography? 40mpx is perfect, but not as fast as xh2s - dilemma
It’s a good question!! So I love having both cameras because I do photography and filming. If I could only pick one it would be the XH2s only because of it’s filming capabilities and that I can do photography as well. But if I didn’t need to do filming e.g this content for RUclips, then I would pick the XH2 as it’s fantastic for photography- with still great filming 🙂
No idea, I only used it for wildlife, pet, self portraits and the more detailed shots - what I showed in the review. I personally think the minimal focusing distance might not be enough for macro but wouldn’t be able to say as I didn’t use it for that
Fuji needs to send you a year's salary and send you across the world to represent their brand. It needs to be said!! (please hire me as your Canadian guide for all things Alberta)
Awww i love this!!! Thank you Trent!! I need to send this to Fuji! And they should do the same for you considering how much amazingness you capture with their equipment! And if I did make it, you would definitely be my first contact for Canada! ☺️🙏🏻
The price of the 200mm varies depending on region but currently in the UK it is £4399 and it’s weight is 2265g / 4.99lb
Thanks! 🙂✌🏻
