    One of the biggest reasons SYQ is dominating the game is his backhand shot, which is exceptionally good. His footwork for backhand shots is much smoother compared to Antonsen. Antonsen and other players tend to rely on overhand forehand shots, which require more energy and additional steps to position their body on the left side of the court. Players like LCW, Taufik Hidayat, and LD are among the most talented with backhand shots, which is why they dominate the game.

      @matthewgoh6705 14 дней назад

      Gill the commentator remarked that SYQ lost 14 finals to LCW, which shows the gap between the current no.1 and the legends. one may argue SYQ is in his prime now and wasn't then, but SYQ came back from a long injury lay-off to his current self, which means physically he would be a bit less than his former self. he was already experienced then compared to now so I don't think that made a huge diff. plus he was always playing second fiddle to Chen Long until CL retired. To me, the quality of play in men's singles now is not where it once was.
      but what do I know, I'm an armchair keyboard warrior.

    If LCW'd never bee older, he would've kept winning this home tournament. Today's malaysian players are dying now! Look at those:
    - Lee zii jia: He always in R32 before he got injured and now he follows ng tze yong who is absent too long so that he will get out of top 10 soon
    - Ng tze yong: I'd consider he has retired cuz even though he comes back, his career will be short after his injury
    - Leong jun hao: Completely weak! He even lost to lu guangzu who is actually much more average than wang zhengming
    - Justin hoh: 21 years old but still failed to participate in this tournament? LCW became runner up of malaysia open 2003 and entered top 10 as he was still 21 years old. What has he been doing until he performed so bad in every previous tournaments?
