I grew up with the FoFC versions of Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and never saw this one as a kid, but watching it somehow feels really familiar and comforting while also being exciting and new. And the quality is spectacular!
this is the only cartoon version I've ever seen. It feels like a fever dream when I try to explain it to others, but we used to watch it all the time. Thanks so much for the upload!
13:43 I still do question their decision of making the mock turtle just looked like a normal turtle rather than a half turtle half cow abomination like he's meant to be

3:14 When the ADD kicks in. 4:24 Foreshadowing. Also, of all the Alice portrayals out there this Alice seems to have the most casual attitude about eating strange food and drinks that just appeared there.
I love this animation and art style so much, even though there are so many mistakes and the lip syncing is super off. It's still a big piece of inspiration for me though.
Maybe the sister thought Alice was still dreaming? I mean for me at least it takes like a minute or so before I become fully aware of my surroundings after waking up. But I don't know 🤷🏻♂

Is no one gonna talk how they re-used the same soundtrack bit from Rankin/Bass' 1967 Christmas special Cricket on the Hearth? ruclips.net/video/8EVxMZtOGoA/видео.htmlsi=-Es-kYE00nOGTRYE&t=517 and in 19:38-20:35 they also re-used one of the soundtracks from their thanksgiving special from 1968 called The Mouse on the Mayflower (I forgot that some of the episodes on this series made by Rankin/Bass also re-used their soundtracks from their previous tv specials and etc.)
What a shame they did this before The Return of the King and The last Unicorn etc., with all the dark atmosphere. Wish they'd revisited this in the 80's.
I really enjoy this adaptation of Alice in wonderland next to the 1951 Disney film this my favorite version of Alice next to the Disney version she reminds a mix of the Disney Alice and Karen from frosty the snowman put together adding the adorable matter to it a very underrated adaptation in my opinion
I remember we had this on VHS in the UK. I think we had one with a fake cover cause we thought we were getting the Disney version. We gave up watching it after 8 minutes. Watching it as an adult, it's not bad. Typical odd Rankin/Bass style and all that.
Why was the Queen of Hearts called the Red Queen? Different queen, different book. In fact, this misnomer was the only reference in this cartoon to that other Alice book.
I feel like that was either their way of referencing Through The Looking Glass or to the Disney Version. I'm thinking Disney since the Queen of Hearts does quote the Red Chess Queen. "All ways are my ways" "Curtsey while you're thinking" but who knows? It could be a conquesendence i mean hearts are red. And they did say red queen not chess so.....
I honestly like this version of Alice in Wonderland. I don't know why, but maybe it's because of the simple 70s animation. Festival of family classics is such an underrated Rankin Bass cartoon. My favorite part is the tea party scene it was funny. People should talk more about this cartoon of alice.
@@eduardo_corrochio Well, that information wasn't on IMDb at the time they wrote that. I know because I'm the one who added it. I got that information from the Behind the Voice Actors website. Though, frankly, I'm a little dubious about it. I'm not sure where they go that info, especially since not all the characters in this have their voice actors identified, and except for the character of Tom Sawyer, none of the other episodes in the FFC series are mentioned.
StrahaoftheRace people can think of stuff like this without drugs mind you.. boring people without imagination or creativity are the ones who do it and say that sort of thing about this stuff xD
Wonderland is a representation of the so called normal adult world. It shows how to a rational mind society makes no sense. In fact you NEED drugs just to put up with it.
@@KRGRTV From what it says at the end of the book I think it just means children have wild imaginations and to keep the same innocent heart of a child you need to hold on to those memories and childish fantasies, they are one of the things that have helped make you into whoever you are as a person. And maybe even pass it on to others or your own children so they too can keep that simple loving heart from when they were once children. Everyone of us has an inner child inside after all. I think what stories like Alice and Peter Pan have in common is that one never truly grows up. We all go back to our childhood now and then. Whether by eating our old cereal, watching our favorite cartoons or even snuggling with our parents at night or hell even laughing so hard at toilet humor you bust an intestine. Because that was part of our childhood. And if we keep that phase in our lives alive in our memories, and "remembering those happy summer days" we will truly never grow up. And we need to embrace it and enjoy it. Memories and ideals are very precious after all. ❤
The mock turtle dose not look like a mock turtle it looks like a regular turtle the mock turtle is sapoose to look like a cow's head a turtle's flippers shell cow's tail or a dog's head paws tail and turtle's shell
Say, Curiouser Archive, since you're uploading all these versions of "Alice...", some pretty little known, I was wondering if, by some sheer chance, you might be able to get hold of the TV special "Inaugural Celebration for Children". I saw it in first grade, right when Bill Clinton was elected president. I ask about it because it featured a few characters from the series "Adventures in Wonderland". Think you can find it somewhere?
Alice is definitely a lot smarter in this version

Wauw, i remember watching this as a child. I'm 31 now. Nice to see it again. Soo nostalgic. Or as we say in Belgium: Amai, waar is den tijd?.😉😁
What do you know after all failed attempts all it took was a good cry from Alice to wake her up and bring her back to the world of reality.

That's the charm of Rankin & Bass. :)

The turtle (who is a Mock Turtle in the book) sounds somewhat like Goofy.
