At that time in 1965, I was already working for producer Phil Spector but I was also buying The Supremes 45s....I really got into the music field after buying my first ever 45, "Where Did Our Love Go?" for 95 cents at a local record store in Spanish Harlem........my mother loved to watch them on the Ed Sullivan show and would tell me she had never heard or seen such beautiful ladies sing so well....
RIP Mary Wilson with your sister Supreme Florence Ballard the 2 founding members of the Supremes. RIP Florence Ballard with your Supreme sister now 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Big Bear Lake - San Bernardino National Forest - Awesome place. Never knew the Supremes we're there, too bad we didn't see them on skis. Went camping close to Big Bear in June 2008, temp dropped to 55, shivered and shook all night. Isn't life wonderful.
This performance was the first time most of us heard "Stop in the Name of Love" as this was the first time they sang it on national television around the time of its release.
They have a lot of classic hits to choose from. I mean classics. Do they actually know how lucky they were? And it takes tons of luck. Talent alone will not make you a success in the entertainment business
THEY WERE A HUGE PART OF MY LIFE ! EVERYTHING THEY TOUCHED TURNED TO GOLD ! THEIR PRODUCTIONS WERE SUPREME ! AND THE HOTS WERE COMING OUT TOO FAST BUT I HAD TO HAVE EVERY SINGLE ONE !
Never saw this from the beginning like this. This is great because the screaming isnt so piercing. Diana Ross is really smelling herself here, dancing the way the music moves her instead of sticking to the subtle Supremes choreography.
I am sure all true fans of the supremes , and the talents of these three great ladies, would give permission to those of you who just want to pedal negative comments about a member of the group after 50 years (some who weren’t even born) and take truths from hearsay .. to move on to something else as the comments are just pathetic. Diane Diana. Who cares she’s great talent
@@jonldn no one's comment is more negative than yours. Diana Ross looks good here being herself instead of doing the usual subtle supremes stuff. Go sit down somewhere.
I was 6 when this particular show came out - it's funny (weird ) that everyone I talk to doesnt remember this show ?! Diana Ross and the Supremes was SPECTACULAR to say the least. Diana Ross has a beautiful voice !!! I still to this day have the first double vinyl album I received for Xmas titled Diana Ross and the Supremes Greatest Hits it also contains lyrics and a picture sleeve of Diana - Cindy and Mary . I have played the "grooves" constantly since 1965 !!! LOVE THEM and their music !!! I was devastated when Diana left the group in fact damn right mad about it but she made up for it with an ICONIC voice that she has and a beautiful personality ! I'm glad to see that she is still out there performing .
That Is The Supremes 1965, You Can't Change History.. And The Diana Ross and The Supremes Album You Got For Xmas Pictures Were Of Mary.. Diana.. Florence..
Sorry bout this- I jumped ahead of myself the pictures in that album were of Diana FLORENCE and Mary . Cindy Birdsong joined the Supremes at a later date replacing Florence .
Hello Jay - This is Darrell Hill - Project Manager of the channel. Mary’s Archive Team will continue uploads in her memory. Thank you for your comment and your support.
@@darrellhill2933 Thank you so very much, I'm saddened, I just wish she could be replying to these messages, I just wish that it was just a dream that she never passed at all, God bless you, Miss Wilson's family, loved ones and every fan and those who love these archive videos. I wonder if we can get videos from way back in the days of 1960 and 1961 when the Supremes first were doing hand claps for other acts and when they did their early recording sessions, I know there has to be those type of videos in existence, that would also be a great fitting tribute to Miss Wilson also. May Mary Wilson Florence Ballard, Betty McGlown and Barbara Martin rest in peace now and always.
CBS originally commissioned "Where The Action Is" as a weekly hour-long prime time show, but when CBS fired network programming head Jim Aubrey, his successor Mike Dann decided against picking up the show. ABC agreed to pick it up as a daytime summer replacement show in 1965. The show was sufficiently successful to stay on the air until early 1967. A few "performances" (lip synched) from the pilot would eventually appear in the series, including this one.
The original Supremes ; the luscious but temperamental/willful Florence Ballard, the very pretty Mary Wilson, the driven/focused/smart and talented Diana Ross. This video is not anything special per se but certainly of great historical significance for those devoted to the Supremes and Motown in all their manifestations. No apologies here - great artists stand the test of time whether from 2000 year ago as in Praxiteles, 500 years ago as in Michelangelo, 100 years ago as in Van Gogh, 50 years ago as in Warhol and Pollack etc etc.
