Cineworld should pay you for advertising the "having an unlimited card" lifestyle so well
At the minute their campaign consists of awkward tiktok people, so sure
If there’s one thing I take from this video it’s that Sam and I need to just get locked in a room together and talk about the Scream franchise for days.
Because everyone in my life is sick of hearing me talk about these damn movies and I wasn’t even a fan until part 5 woke up something inside me and made me look back and realize a franchise I had written off as hipster trash was actually my fucking song all along. I have truly become unbearable. Moreso than I already was.
Lol we need a support group. I try to force my friends to watch them all every year. Kristen Bell in the fakeout opening of the 4th one? Literally me
Yeaaaaahhhh, Belle was emotionally muddled, but I will say that the lead VA for the dub, Kylie McNeill, is fantastic and I look forward to following her career.
I spent the big bux for Avatar 2's higher frame rate (not Imax, not one near me on short notice) and it made me constantly slightly nauseous. Something about the animation I think. Very video-gamey though, yeah.
Hi Davis. You probably don't remember me, but we had a bit of a bust up. I post on a blog called Burrunjorsramblesandbabbles. (Haven't bothered in a year mind.) And you used it as an example of sexist DW fans (which btw you are entitled to do, I'm not saying that was bullying or anything. I put it out there on the internet, can't get bitchy if it doesn't get the response I want.) I then said you were an example of toxic fandom in some crappy article I wrote. However recently I got a message from someone claiming to be you on my blog burying the hatchet? If so that's cool. I mean it's not like we were enemies LOl, but we both had some negative views of the other (I think we were both just being a bit tribal in our observations.)
At the end of the day we were both just talking about a show we love and got caught up in a stupid culture war. For the record I saw a vid you did with Mr Tardis about the Fitzroy Crowd and I appreciate you talking about that subject, as ultimately that definitely is the biggest problem with DW that it's become creatively stagnant due to being made by the same guys for 30 years, who have to dominate EVERY area of it. Not just the show, but the books, the games, the comics etc. There is a whole generation of sci fi writers and fans who are missing their shot thanks to the previous gen pulling the ladder up behind them. I appreciate you mentioning that and again whilst this was a stupid, minor internet thing don't worry I won't ever mention you in an article again.
I mean I'm kind of done with that toxic fandom stuff anyway. In hindsight I think people who go on about toxic fandom, myself included are tribal as every little clique will have those elements and it's best to just be an individual. Also for the record I really can't stand the Nerdrotic and Criticial Drinker types. They are basically what Anita Sarkeesian was back in 2016, IE overanalysing and stirring gender shit up in everything so I acknowledge a lot of you guts were right about them. Anyway have a good one and I subbed.
Great vid
Loved your thoughts on Skinamarink, totally agree. One of those films where you have to set yourself up properly for it - I watched it on a very legal site in the pitch darkness, and I think my visceral reaction would've been far less if I didn't do those things (the constant buffering of the very legal site actually helped it for once, felt like a cursed video I wasn't supposed to have come across.) And yeah, those jumpscares are intense with all of the build-up.
Now I definitely need to watch True Things!
everything u said about eeaao resonated massively, good video!
I don’t wanna be in that guy but… more broke canon when?
But you were that guy.
When the specials air I think.
Who wants to tell me what the opening song is? There's not a credit to be spotted in the video or description.
Thats Hollow Hunger!
26:24 Aww, cheers mate! Tho, a warning to anyone who digs out that video, do NOT take a shot every time I say "critique" (jfc, Ben, get a thesaurus and script your videos). Wish I'd seen more films in 2022 - luckily I have this video to help me get caught up! Amazing work as always.
Okay Sam, I watch these videos because our opinions and observations often align in very specific ways, but…the Spiral/The Batman comparison…
Have you actually been in my mind? That is such a specific observation and I refuse to believe someone else has actually had it.
I Thought He Meant bill nye the science guy When He Was talking About Living
Thoroughly enjoyed hearing all your thoughts, some excellent editing touches in there too, bravo
Also WRONG Turning Red is great but it’s okay to be WRONG sometimes, we’re all WRONG sometimes
2022 is up there with 2008 and 1996 for best movie years
