I have the Microshift version and it is fine enough for me as a commuter and weekend warrior. I have had some issues with the rear break (cable needed replaced after roughly 2,000 miles), but otherwise it's pretty decent. I would also recommend replacing the chain immediately for something more sturdy as it was eating into the drive chain/rear cassette.
Own it and outgrew it quickly. Even though I am in my fifties, at this point, I still prefer a bike with a lower stack (still flexible). Its really not for fast rides but more endurance (long) rides. Agree the tires and wheels it comes with are best upgraded to some lighter wheels and tires (better rolling, tubeless).
@@MadMaxProductions-sx4hu yes but you have to be flexible enough and have the core strength to be able to sustain a lower position. The default position of the 520 is great for beginners
@@MadMaxProductions-sx4hu My advice to anyone starting cycling would be, comfort gives you power, power gives you speed. Unless you are young and want to get into road racing, get a bike that fits you and feels comfortable to ride, preferably with a relaxed geometry like this bike. The rest is marketing.
Wouldn't the new Poseidon Triton be a good comparison and competition the Triban 520. I like Trek bikes but there is some good competition appearing in the quality budget road bike and gravel bike categories.
@@Mike22313 wheels are one of the cheapest part to swap, not a big deal. Compare the specs of this bike to any other major brand. You'd spend 400,500 more $ for the same bike
One of the pleasures of training on a heavy bike is getting on your light bike as a reward for all the effort you put in at the start of the season.
So true
The Triban RC 520 has been sold out for months already in Germany
Not sure buying a bike from decathlon can be classed as nothing but great at the moment. The way their pro team is winning so many races
What does a bike have to do with winning races? Some guy years ago wrote a book called, "It's not about the bike".
Apparently, it was about the dope.
This is my bike and loving it.
The trp brakes are one of the best hybrid brakes.
I ride them on my road bike too.
My steel road bike weight 14kg and i have no problem on climbing

What chain would you consider to be sturdy? Shimano?
Is the chain that bad?

The steerer can be cut 30mm.
@@truantrayexactly but you know how MAMILs are
@@truantrayI was thinking of getting one, does that help with speed bc you are getting lower? Sorry newbie to cycling, thank you 🙏🏽

The Van Rysel EDF AR 105 is supposed to have a complete 105 groupset.
But RC520 has better brakes🙃
Ngl I thought joe was computer generated man at first
Looking to upgrade the stock tyres. Which would you recommend?
Panaracer Gravelking SKs for Gravel, Continental GP5000s for road.
Nice honest review. The extra weight will only make you fitter.
What was the wheelbase?
Anyone know where I can find one today, they’re sold out on the site

all i want is a bike that doesnt hurt my butt
I've given up on the new bike industry to buy used. Loads of great deals to be found & disc brakes give me a headache.
What about flat handle bar road bikes???
What about them
That’s not cheap at all, what on earth is happening to the cycling industry???? Buy second hand, save £££’s and the planet!!! Utter shit
this should have 1x w a 11-36 at the back
That's the GRVL.
GRVL is basically that + a wider fork that can fit wider tires.
Frame is the same.
Yeah, seems like for a "beginner" bike, you'd want easier gears. And a nice tall front end. Even the gravel gears are a bit tall for where I live.
Beginner, I didn't think it would be a 1500$ bike lol.
same lol
They're going like hot potatoes.
and wheels a mostly sh$t
i've drove with them for 1k and still no issues
