    Good simple video but a mention for people learning is the importance of the right wire size for the amps going through it, and the fact that the fuse protects the wire not the items on the end of the wire.

    Looks OK to me. A little bit unconventional but I won't quibble. It is certainly safe and functional. When I was working with aircraft they said something to me which seemed odd at first but makes perfect sense. "Fuses are not there to protect the devices, they are there to protect the wiring." Cheers.

    be very careful with that breaker and the diesel heater. if you fx leave the van and the heater hasn't gone through its cool down sequence , and you trip the breaker because you want to shut down all power for the night, the heater will fry the main board because of over heating. Easy mistake to make! I wonder if it wouldn't be better to wire the heater directly to the battery for continous power. Also, I see alot of those screens lcds go out. people recommend putting a switch on it when not in use to conserve the lcd. (same applys though with the shut down sequence, not sure if turning the lcd screen off cuts power to the whole heater, needs to be looked up!) good job on the videos!

    Very well explained. Would normally use different grounding points around the van for each accessory. Was interesting to see how you ran the earth from the accessories to the switch and doubled up the earths for both switch and accessories and put them both straight into the negative side of the fuse box.

    • @MonaichFother

      yeah, I am wondering about that. Can you Earth the installed campervan electric system to the van chassis. That way only a positive feed need be ran to anaccessory, with a small lengthe lead to the vehicle body acting as the negative for it?

    • @stevecrowe176

      No, the fuse is to protect the wire, not the accessories.
      Eg: 12v fridge draws max 5a, a 15 or 20a wire would suffice, using a 10a inline blade fuse (or the blade box used here)
      Also position the fuse as close as practical to the 12v supply

    hi can some1 tell me if ya need to use an inverter when doing the wiring this way thank

    • @EllenMcDermott
      @EllenMcDermott 10 месяцев назад

      You can wire the inverter directly to the battery negative and positive with a fuse on the positive and you ground it to the chassis and you are ready to go to use your 240 power.

      @@LT_TOMMY_ Cool thanks for the update. I got one more question if you don't mind, I seen loads of people using a 12v switch after the circuit breaker, do you know is there a reason for that seeing as the circuit breaker also works as a switch? Seems a bit pointless otherwise

    • @LT_TOMMY_
      @LT_TOMMY_  4 года назад +1

      12v switch as in a normal light switch etc?
      The breaker is just extra protection for the wires etc.

    Tommy how do work out what size breakers i need going from batt to fuses

    • @LT_TOMMY_
      @LT_TOMMY_  4 года назад +1

      The cable size always need to be rated higher then the breaker or fuse size .
      I'm using a 10mm cable which will give up to 70 amps protection which means a 50amp breaker will just be lower then the cable rating and should work fine 👍

    I hope I am wrong, but are you sure the large red is 10mm, it looks like 6mm to me, the reason I ask is that usually yellow crimps are 6mm (blue is 2.5mm and red is 1.5mm approx.) If it is 6mm then the breaker is rated too high, its only just on the mark if it is 10mm as it depends on what type of cable it is and the rated temperature of the insulation. Sos to be a buzz kill.
