Excellent Dr. Altus ! I have been following Dr. Olson for some time and yes you can teach an old dog new tricks. I have been trying to find a best practices audiologist in Rochester NY to help me with my difficult S2P loss. The closest suggestion from Applied was in Syracuse NY. I find this strange because Rochester is home to RIT National Technical Institute For The Deaf and has a very large Deaf and HOH community. I have a appointment later this month for a consultation with a new local provider who states that they do follow best practices. I'll know by their answers when I ask if they have a HIT, 3D Earmold Scanner, can properly perform REM and a proper hearing test. My last hearing test in 2019 was performed at the University of Rochester on a machine that was not capable of handling my hearing loss and resulted in my speech discrimination scores plummeting lower that they already are. Next my long term audiologist recently attempted to perform REM that was atypical due to the probe microphone tube supposedly being pintched by my tight fitting unvented acrylic power molds.
