Kill the Flashover: Water vs. Novacool Solution

During KTF 2015 we set out to demonstrate the positive effects of utilizing a foam concentrate to improve the efficiency of water. We took two rooms in the house and conducted pre-treatment tests. The walls and ceilings were coated with water in one room and 0.40% Novacool solution in the other room. The rooms were treated using approximately 10-15 gallons in each room. The walls and ceiling were treated using as close to the same application rate as possible on each covering. Once the walls and ceiling were treated the fuel load (couch) was brought into the room. The fuel load was lit and observations made.
The video is timed from ignition of the fuel load to show the fire spread comparison of the treated room and untreated room. The footage on the top of the video is the treated room and the bottom of the video is the untreated room.
