I'll be 60 years old in a year and I have absolutely loved Montero Lil Nas X from the beginning. So extremely talented and brave and creative. But for all my awe for him that was already there, this interview really brought my admiration to a whole new level. If I had had a tenth of his wisdom and honesty at that age... Much love from Sweden.

I listened to his song about his grand ma and he had a recorded message from her he saved on his phone which he added to the end of the song. This was the most heart breakibg song i had ever heard and this solified my understanding and have much respect for this person. Jay this was a great interview for so many reasons! First off, my favourite part was when he got up took a breath and then came back and said he wanted to be authentic. It was in that moment of him talking about being empathetic about how negative people feel about him or his life. I love that he thought about it and then came back and said “I’m trying to get there”. It’s not easy to be understanding of negative people and it’s great that he stopped himself and decided to keep it real cos those things hurt and he clearly has been hurt by it. Secondly, I love that after that he was honest that he makes his art for himself and if it connects with people fine but it’s not to please or be an LGBTQ hero as such. I’ve always found him very interesting because religion is a huge deal in the black community, and he seems comfortable with being Gay and Christian, rightfully so, but the outside world separating those two things is where the struggle lyes and I’ve always felt that his art was just an expression of that struggle rather than a mock or a conclusion, just something that is! I love that you made him feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable. As the great George Michael once named an album ‘Listen Without Prejudice and that’s something that you did 🫶🏾

I’m so glad he is getting stronger and able to create without approval. I love and have seen Lil NAz X (in fact tickets were a surprise gift from me for my son's 16th bday). Montero is a young man who was always different, even nerdy and not only overcame hardships and has trauma of his own like everyone else, he Is wildly talented, successful, brilliant, and gorgeous. He lieves in his authenticity. I love that he embraces who he is and makes other's uncomfortable about things that they should be accepting of. I adore that he is humble, super talented, generous, and apologetic only when he feels he may have hurt others. Other than expressing his kind heart he is unapologetically himself. We need more of that. And ya know what? I bet that a lot of times, inside he is still that insecure kid. Keep doing what you are doing. I see you. Always sending love and prayers your way. And to all the haters, God don't like ugly. We are on this earth to love others and become better, not to judge. Also, Jay, you are one of my favorite people. You are a life changer and an amazing human that always leads with love and understanding. Your desire to teach and grow is beyond admirable. (and I can't wait to get your wife's cookbook!!!! YUUUUUMMMMY!!!!!) Thanks to you for changing the world and to Lil Naz for letting other people feel comfortable to start to be themselves.
The closed minded people in the comments lol you haven’t even listened to the entire interview, yet… and you’re already saying horrible things… You’re literally proving his point.
You ladies are super naïve and have no idea what Christianity teaches. Try mocking Islam and see where that gets you. In fact, Lil Nas X should dress up like the Islamic prophet Muhammad next time. What do you ladies think?

Idk but i feel like Jay shetty has to sit with these two people, Ru Paul and Billy Porter, am sure these two got a lot things to talk about, stories and lessons for years, on the other hand, Montero was just amazing in this interview and undeniably we’ve got and learned a lot of things from him and ultimately learned more about him, it’s our prayer that God strengthens him to be able to conquer his journey in this thing called LIFE.❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾
Both of you are, I was in such a shitty spot in life when I started to listen to your podcast a long time ago. I have turned so much around I went from homelessness to getting in nursing school today. I learned to love myself and I got sick recently and it sparked a spiritual awakening. I really needed this episode I was starting to hate myself because I am bisexual I don’t give guys a chance because I think god will be mad. I needed to see a black man like me being able to be himself that what I meant by he’s inspirational.
God loves us all he can help us pray to him ask him to guide you don’t worry about god being mad at you for liking guys and being bisexual that doesn’t matter❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾

I had seen his videos here and there and wondered how he got so dark with God💔? I loved all he had to say on this episode and realize what I saw wasn’t his intent… tho how did I misinterpret? Confusing but I really enjoyed his thought process and his way of following life’s signs. I too, feel he is going to be just fine. The reason many of us are saying that is… he’s still a baby in life school! Lol his brain isn’t even fully developed yet! Great show!!!
I like the openness, honesty, and empathy Montero expressed here. Glad to hear that he has not chosen to see his critics or even the voices in his head that offer criticism as his enemy. That's something most human beings should aspire to do. I have my disagreements with Montero, but he is not an enemy. He's a brother. And I'm praying that he chooses to follow Jesus when he calls his name and not Satan or the fun on the service dead on the inside lures of this world.

@latrinemarine826 lol I love how u use another religion. Christians also judge and disregard to prove your point when it benefits u. Also, why would he do something related to islam when he grew up in a Christian household and Islam is not practice in the west as Christianity which is his targeted audience.
@@kindallnight1615 You’re aware of what happens to influencers and entertainers that violate Islamic norms, right? They usually end up dead, especially females, for far less serious crimes then blasphemy. Christians are accused in Pakistan, for example, of blaspheming all the time and it carries a death sentence there. Why shouldn’t the same rules apply to this guy? Just because you claim to be a Christian or have some Christian background, does not mean you’re at liberty to somehow blaspheme God. In fact, Christians are the ones who should know better.

Yeah!!! It affected his mental health because he was spiritually attacked. Regardless what you believe in, before mocking any sort of religion because at the end of the day everything is spirituality. It’s not a joking fun video it was intentional. I don’t believe that. He saw the money and went for it. I love you Jay Shetty you have been an inspiration for many and I love your craft. I respect that you did this interview with an open mind but this was hard. I appreciate you giving him an open space to speak.
It affected his mental health because the people who call themselves religious and spiritual were attacking this boy well before this video, way back to his old town road days and are using God as their own personal weapon to attack him just because they don't like him.
Much like the insights from Jay Shetty's podcast, our connection adds a special depth to my days. How has Jay Shetty's wisdom resonated with you recently?
i don't think he had to explain himself about the music video. as a former christian and sunday school teacher, most christians judge and hate gay people. and even tho he's gay, he's allowed to be a christian and interpret things or make artistic content however he wants. christians want to be victims SO bad. let people live their own lives, it isn't always about YOU. christians have a very hard time accepting that concept. this coming from someone who was deeply embedded in the church at one point.

Ur so lucky. I wish I could see him live

The closed minded people in the comments lol you haven’t even listened to the entire interview, yet… and you’re already saying horrible things…
You’re literally proving his point.
Yeah right? I thought God was love and judging was a sin
@@abrilsanchez9512right! The fact that they’re even looking at a channel like this seems so hypocritical.

You ladies are super naïve and have no idea what Christianity teaches. Try mocking Islam and see where that gets you. In fact, Lil Nas X should dress up like the Islamic prophet Muhammad next time. What do you ladies think?
I loooooooove Montero! Wiser than his years!!!

So excited to see Lil Nas X!
This makes me love him more. And I always love/appreciate your interviews. It feels like therapy and legit meaningful conversation!
You are on the right path Montero! Greater things, love, and moments are coming your way.💕

I pray to God that everyone finds Jesus Christ and that everyone gets saved❤ With this interview I truly hope that whatever Lil Nas C is looking for maybe he will find through this conversation. And to whoever is watching may you too find peace, love and happiness.

I just watched his documentary on hbo max so this is perfect timing !

If you’re a Christian or God oriented, what he’s doing shouldn’t bother you at all… the lord lead him to know more about him. #YallBeFakeHoly
Quit gaslighting. The music video is obvious blasphemy and would be labeled “Islamophobic” if he had dressed up as Muhammad.
In fact, Christians are the ones who should know better.

most of y'all saying he's "mocking jesus/christianity" you're in denial and you're purposely ignoring the OBVIOUS meaning of what he did because you're trying to find reasons to not like him. He even explained the meaning in this interview..
I’m curious what in your mind mocking Jesus would look like?
“Bc you don’t see it the way I do you must be in denial not me!”
@@yrnteam6986 i put “obvious” for a reason. If y’all weren’t so big headed and focused on hating someone y’all would’ve gotten it.

I think Lil Nas is a pure person on the inside and he is very nice, but he has problems that he cannot solve and that you cannot tell us about.
In order to have anything to say about this beautiful person you need to have at least some work to understand art and art making people. Otherwise your opinions are far too shallow especially in regard to anything " religious".
Honestly I've been loving the episodes so far thank you that Jay. Just not sure how I feel about you giving an industry puppet airtime.

Wow this guy is beautiful to watch. ❤️🤔
i don't think he had to explain himself about the music video. as a former christian and sunday school teacher, most christians judge and hate gay people. and even tho he's gay, he's allowed to be a christian and interpret things or make artistic content however he wants. christians want to be victims SO bad. let people live their own lives, it isn't always about YOU. christians have a very hard time accepting that concept. this coming from someone who was deeply embedded in the church at one point.
