I am an NZer, lucky enough to have seen Aldous performing at tiny bars and experiencing the majesty that she is, and trust me, it was like being at the birth of a Nina Simone, or a PJ Harvey, intense and beautiful even though she still managed to maintain the facade of just being an ordinary NZer.

Haven't stopped listening to this album start to finish since it was released. Woke up this morning with this tune playing in my head, but the chorus was "Here come life with his feathery dick" and I just needed to share that with you all. Happy to hear Aldous in all her multitudinousness.
People keep talking about how she reminds them of this or that artist. The fragility of Velvet Underground on the Pale Blue Eyes album - I get it. But nobody's done what she's doing. She's tapping into source and bringing it to expression in her own way - unique, creative, new. It's okay to compare her to other musics, but that's not where she's coming from. Face it - you haven't heard this kind of music before.
