Gambit has always been my favorite X-men character. But when I learned about his *real* powers, my mind ran wild with the possibilities, like yours in this video Rob.
I teach science, and use Gambit sometimes to teach the relationship in physics between potential and kinetic energy (as well as the Avengers to teach the four fundamental forces of the universe, but I digress). If he could remove all of the energy from a system and actually reach absolute zero, he would cause atoms to simply disintegrate. The total absence of energy would cause the very gluons and quarks that make up protons and neutrons to fall apart, resulting in a total breakdown of matter into pure energy. If he didn't feel like blowing things up (not sure why that would be the case) he could simply remove all energy from a system and cause it to *POOF* turn into pure energy and dissipate into the universe.
Or If he wanted to travel near light speed, he could simply accelerate his energy-form to warp across the universe, and bring with him anything he wants. Of course, then we start dealing with relativistic mass and energy, which would be much more complex than I'd want my Gambit comics to get.
OR! Or if he wanted to destroy things by crushing them instead of blowing them up (maybe to prevent collateral damage or something), he could simply focus all the available energy around him into a tiny enough point in space (1 planck length) until it reached "absolute hot," for lack of a better term. At that point, the universe around that point would collapse into a singularity of pure energy, or an energetic black hole, AKA a Kugelblitz. He could warp space-time around himself, preventing him from experiencing the passage of time, becoming immortal and having all power over the fabric of the universe. Having total control over energy in a universe composed *entirely* of energy would make Gambit a god in a very literal sense.
Plus his costume is the coolest. And who doesn't love the accent and black/red eyes.

Exactly what I’m thinking but he won’t be able to turn god in the sense of a creator because he can’t guide molecules to his whim. Not only he can manipulate time around him, he would be able to move backward in time by being able to generate faster than the speed of light he is pure energy with complete control over them.
But MCU could probably buff Gambit a little further , by changing the material of his cards , so from paper cards to polystyrene , then he will get cards slightly heavier and much more energy dense or if he could go even further make it out of Uranium 235 then he would release all the the nuclear potential energy like a fission bomb - so if we made a new Gambit or something like that make him have an intelligence buff , and with that he could make his cards out of Uranium-235 and then he could probably be better.

Gambit, my favorite Marvel character. Everything about him is just cool. Using throwing cards as a weapon? How is that not awesome? And one of the things that I love about him is just how powerful he could be but rejects it. He can be beaten by Bullseye, Sabretooth, Daredevil etc. if he's not careful. And he actually has to struggle and fight for his victories. He's not just another hero who has plot armor so he'll always win.
And yeah he has a tragic past but he doesn't brood over it. He doesn't let it weigh him down or define him. Yes he's ashamed of the things he's done but he chooses to rise above and do better. And while he is a lady's man, he does have his one real love he just wants to be with. And what's better, she's not just another damsel in distress. She could just as easily kick his ass or save it if need be.

Doctor Manhattan is a reality warper I believe. He can traverse time and change it while still existing outside it
I never read abot Manhattan but how i heard even maybe some as Franklin Richards isnt stronger then him.
@@drawntome77 I don't remember him traversing time as much as space. (Which can be construed as time) Dr. Manhattan always seemed like an omnipotent alchemist to me. His abilities come from not only harnessing energy in almost every form but being able to understand the path of energy irregardless of time, which is what makes him omnipotent. It is also what leads to his weakness. Time travel is the one thing he can't actually do aside from bringing people back from nonexistence. This means anyone capable of altering time or transmuting something's atomic form can obscure his omnipotence.

I stand corrected. I thought Doctor Manhattan was able to travel back and forth in time to witness his own origin\events and even change certain events at will.
Gambit always been one of my favorite characters. Everyone picked Wolverine back in the day, but I knew how OP Gambit could be ;)

Rob, just a request from a subscriber here; can you do one of these videos for Jubilee? I think she really, REALLY, deserves justice outside of the comics. Her X-Men Fox-verse appearances were lackluster to the point of disgust. Also, they violate the already shattered continuity. Also, I remember the dreadful Generation X TV movie. Please do a Comics Explained on Jubilation Lee, it's all I will ask of you... that and a Rob Corps ring.
Vernon Hampton He should do one of these and a background video for all of the major heroes of the Avengers/Justice League squads. I loved his Omega-Level vids on Storm and Martian Manhunter.
@@dawb86 Agreed, but I point out Jubilee because for my generation (80s/90s kids), she was the gateway character for us into X-Men comics. Also, she appears in three X-Men movies and never, ever, portrayed correctly. Also, thematically, her powerset would lend well to cinema, not a lot of prosthetics or makeup necessary for the role. But alas, here we are in 2018 and the cinematic market aimed almost squarely at China and she's still relegated to white noise. That's wrong.

Vernon Hampton I can agree with that, it upset me that the FOX films switched Wolverine's relationship with Jubilee to Rogue AND on top of that didn't even do a decent job with Rogue's portrayal. She was a little younger so I don't think she should get introduced in the first film but it should be a priority for the MCU to incorporate her and give her a great characterization.
@@dawb86 It would take me a week to tell you how badly the original X-Men film has aged. Also, I think the main problem with that is that Brian Singer didn't respect the source material or he would have made Kitty Pride the main focus character or made what first year film students call: a B-plot.

Xmen will always be one of my favorite class of villians and heroes ever created. Theres just so many damn good and overpowered characters. And Gambit is one of the MOST underrated Anti heroes ever.

New Son's ability to "stop people in their tracks" is possibly the ability to absorb kinetic energy to which you wouldn't have any potential energy to turn into kinetic energy thus you couldn't move a finger.

P. yea u werent paying much attention here. if he can cause atoms to stop vibrating then he can freeze you within reality. maybe not so much stop time as he is stopping you on an atomic level from being able to move, from beinf able to even think, from doing anything. to move requires neurons and synapses to fire electricity. that electricity is frozen. your muscles matter is frozen, np neurons firing or receiving in the brain. everything stops. if he can cause your atoms to vibrate to extremes he can theorerically cause you to vibrate faster then the speed of light. you just vibrated out of reality. he could do that with a planet. new sun gambits potential is crazy

Man, while watching this, I thought, 'What would happen if New Son fought Dr. Manhattan!', What set of events would kick-off as a result? This could go in a number of ways! If it came to a flat-out fight to the death or something close, the possibilities are endless! If this was a comic series, it would sell out so fast, and if it's a movie, potentially one of the biggest EVER!
