      Amen. I'm a mediocre, self-taught bassist and videos like this make me want to pick up the instrument and figure out all the crazy things he's doing. Kinda like Les Claypool when I first heard him 20+ years ago. I know for a fact that Erlend likes Claypool as well.

    • @hloyhesit8403
      @hloyhesit8403 8 лет назад +12

      Captain Bassist there are a few lines that really jump out even if you don't know the lyrics: "how could you leave me there in that old church" "Dorian, he sodomized my weak and childish body..." "my father, my lover had now made me a mother"
      I pretty much figured it'd be about rape anyway being called "The Evangelist"

    • @FlyLikeAPgasus
      @FlyLikeAPgasus 8 лет назад +2

      Hloy Hesit After listening to enough death metal you'll be able to hear 90% of the lyrics actually (for most bands at least). Perhaps he's just not used to this type of vocals?

    • @hloyhesit8403
      @hloyhesit8403 8 лет назад +1

      Blahiesfkns Vvadik It's also got alot to do with listening equipment and bitrate. Vocals can blend in to the guitars and bass in low kbps files

      Hloy Hesit I can hear almost every word in this video with the free iPhone earpods (I have better but I was lazy to get them) but it's not exactly a fair test cause I already know the lyrics and can't unhear them.

      I've never had a regular practice regime, as I can go for months without playing and then play for hours a day for a period of time. For songs like this however, I just sit down with a metronome, watch a movie\show and isolate parts I have trouble with and repeat it for hours on end. Not much more to it than that, really. Repetition and muscle memory.

    @erlendcaspersen Hi Erlend,I have been learning some SOP.
    I was trying to find out if Jonas Bryssling used heavy strings for the b tuning,would you know what set he used for a six string,can you tell me if The Atheist is written on, played on a six or seven string, I've been looking at a 13=62 set,has a wound g ,

      If you mean The evangelist or Incurso in general, I have no clue what type of strings or what gauge Jonas used at that point. I highly doubt he either knows. It's a six string.
