- Though they have kept a somewhat low profile over the past few years, even in Rochester, indie rockers Attic Abasement have received quite a bit of attention in unexpectedly prominent places. What began as the home recording project of singer-songwriter Mike Rhienheimer has developed into a more mature endeavor, one that has surprisingly caught the attention of major internet and print publications such as Pitchfork (pitchfork.com/t...) and Interview magazine (www.interviewma.... Fortunately, for now, we've managed to get them above the radar; performing some cuts that span the past five years of their career that pays homage to the mellow, introspective, and often times sarcastic sounds of such bands like Modest Mouse, Bill Callahan, David Berman (of Silver Jews), Daniel Johnston, Real Estate and The National.

This "no means why" is like a secret, dark, post-punk version.
Love it.
Mike says "This is the last song, it's called change machine" the other guitarist chuckles and shakes his head as "Spread the Word" comes up on the screen XD
Trolling before it was a thing. That's mike...
Probably one of my favorite bands now definitely. mhm.
also the last song is "spread the word" n not "change machine" ??? but who really care
I enjoy how you come back like two years to correct the error, you're my kind of person
Yea, but it´s confusing since the singer himself says it´s called "The change machine"
@@roxybaby5291 hi
hey i came back four years later and found myself in these comments, i miss attic abasement so bad
cant believe this was uploaded 7 years ago lol im in love with this band in 2021
juked out on that change machine
actually it was called change the word
This band is phenomenal
It's rare actually to see the band genuinly enjoy the music while they are recording.
in reality none of us are friends. Mikes a self absorbed rich kid that needed indy cred,. faker should be the band name.
@@jrepp11 Sad to hear that. Are you still releasing new material though or broken up?
@@Gnathorn I'm sure they still exist. I have not spoken to anyone in as many years since this was taped.
@@jrepp11 Gotcha. Thanks for the replis^^ You still playing in other bands?
@@Gnathorn I do play just to stay creative. So yes privately.

@@davidgallegos2732 now there's a dislike ):
At 2:54 they hit the same note and it sounds awesome
The split ep shouldn't have been called a A.a project, the line up created and level up'd, and collectively co wrote the tunes . A.a without that line up specific, has an acoustic based sound that relies on studio tricks, this was a real band propping a solo artist up, and getting him national attention.
regardless, I listen to attic abasement for mikes voice and guitar playing
23/04/2018. No dislike!
Mikes face is super red
white to red
1:01 --->
A jagstang
When he got it I bust out laughing... but he's played worse guitars so it was a welcome upgrade for him
