Allen I've picked up my first K.J. Parker novel simply because of your constant recommendation. You haven't led me astray yet when I have given your recommendations a chance so I'm excited to get started after I finish The Fury of the Gods.
Also can I just thank you Allen for reccomending books that are not all, like, fifty dollars for the paperback? As a Dutchie I feel obligated to join The Mechanical read. I've also had my eye on Boudica, but the timing has to be right for those skyscrapers of books.

So cool to see you back on booktube more lately, Allen! These read-a-longs sound super fun. The Mechanicals series popped up on my radar recently and I was wondering why I'd never heard of it, so it's exciting that you'll be reading them! I started Boudica last year and loved it, but haven't gone back yet so this might be a good chance to jump back in. The writing is incredible, one of the most immersive books I've ever read, and with the strong spirituality of the culture it really feels like fantasy.

Interesting picks! I am very interested in Boudicca. I also absolutely loved The Greatcoats. I want to read Court of Shadows, I just don't know if I should read Play of Shadows or Crucible of Chaos first.
The Mechanical sounds very interesting! I’m gonna have to check that one out. My ears immediately perked up though when I heard “foppish aristocrat” for The Guns Above. I’m happy to report that I’ve officially started A Shadow in Summer, thanks to you!

Hello, I would definitely join in for these, the first 3 series sound really interesting and I have never heard of them, which is a great combination. As to the Scavenger trilogy, you heard right, it is almost certainly the weirdest Parker stuff, but really good! and I'm probably due for a re-read. The whole trilogy is a very strange and fun story, and will definitely be a catalyst for a lot of interesting discussion and speculation. I don't want to say much as this series really rewards going in blind, but be warned that book 2 is likely to be divisive, it's great and I love it, but structurally it's an unusual choice. And I really liked Traitor's Blade (on your recommendation) but somehow didn't get around to the rest of the series, so this sounds like the perfect encouragement to read the rest! I wanted to ask though, how do the read-alongs work? I have never been an active participant in booktube activities before, but it sounds like fun (I've been watching for a while but never joined in as I am not super internet savvy). I assume y'all chat about these along the way some where? What all goes on? Any information would be great! Many thanks for all of the cool additions to next year's reading journey!
