Hahaha frank is a bit fussy, we struggle to feed him fish he prefers his cat food lol. Hopefully he will get with the program and start eating seafood. He is fantastic company on a night shift though. On this sail he didn't go to sleep at all and kept me company the whole night. -sam
Looks like a beautiful night sail! We enjoy night sailing as well, tho my favourite night sail of ours was out from Yamba, when the dolphins were lit up by bioluminescence. You could see them coming towards us a long ways away, but watching them bow ride was the most special.
Why hello LL crew! Yeah we had a great time! Middle Island Pass was fun but we were sailing with lickery split and they took a massive short cut right next to the rocks. Nothing beats local knowledge hey.
A pleasant sail, and the next episode in the lagoon promises to be interesting. Was considerate of Sam to let Cait sleep through the night! You caught my attention at 13:32 mentioning that you would "heave to". That is a fascinating maneuver to me. I only know of it being done once before (on Sailing Elane ep19), by a boat that was in distress. Sam being such a good explainer, I suggest you demonstrate "heaving to" on a future video. 🙂
Hi Frank, thankyou for your suggestion I'll try to remember on our next sail. Heaving to a catamaran different to heaving to a mono which is different to heaving to a traditional rig lol. -Sam
The flow of water of your transoms looks great-- those extensions are really working working well. I see you have a SARCA anchor-- do you like it? Phil
Hi Phil, We have a sarca 7 and it works great. It was on the boat when we brought it and if we ever lost it i would be happy to buy another one, I would go the next size up as I feel it is a little light for this boat and I have also fitted a bolt to stop the shackle sliding up the shank as it was tripping the anchor in tidal areas where we swung 180' . I just take the bolt out when we go to the reef. -sam
@@sailingwiththejamess Yes I had a SARCA hold me in 60 knots swinging 180 deg in NZ a few years ago-- I now use the Excel which I also think is an amazing anchor.
The burgers are actually a double burger on flat Turkish bread. My wife and I share one so at about twelve dollars each it is a quite reasonable price.
Forgive my ignorance, i thought an AIS set up was a must-have piece of kit for this type of cruising? Have you become too popular on RUclips to broadcast your location? Great video, as always.
Hahahahaha I wish that we have become to popular to broadcast lol. This boat has never had ais. I think it is a must have myself. Our last boat had it and we have just purchased it (along with some other goodies) and should be installing it in a couple of weeks. Thanks for watching -sam
Maybe you are right. We went to kingfisher on Frazer Island yesterday for a burger and they were $22 each yet when we were here 2 years ago they were $11 maybe we just need to get with the times. It's hard to do when we could buy tomahawk steaks for that amount of money from the supermarket. -sam
My oh Mia $70 for three people for Hamburgers, what were they made of Kobe beef? Lol That's absolutely ridiculous highway robbery I guess I should say water way robbery. I would have passed on that myself That's just outlandish
Thank you so much Kris! We decided to have lunch on the boat 😃 the burger place is raved about and has great reviews (and great tropical views!) Glad the link worked!! 🙏 We hope you and your family are having a great start to 2025! -Cait
70 bucks for 3 burgers ? Yeah, nah not for mere mortals lol. Btw, you stopping in port stephens down the track? Frank from, lol, port stephens, formerly sydney
Hey Frank! Yeah nah from us too and we ate lunch onboard, we've heard amazing things about the burgers though, everyone raves about them! Our plans are fluid at the moment! We don't know yet! But we will definitely let you know when we do head your way! 💜 -Cait
Next sail I'll be sure to do it. It's a simple operation. We have 1 rope to put the board down and another to put it up. We depower the boat take all the weight off the boards and if we are going fast. Slow down to about 4kts (will differ on different boats). -sam
Don't feel bad about not getting burghers. Obviously they're hamburghlers. No way would I pay anywhere near $70. I rarely eat takeaway now because of the cost, it's just not worth it imo.
Thank you Wayne, you are a legend 🤙 We debated with the burgers as everyone RAVES about them being amazing but we decided it's best for our wallet to eat on the boat 😊🌴💕 -Cait

Has kitty cat figured out that a fresh free meal is available on the deck on night passages . Flying fish and little sqid.😉 Nice sailing.

Wow it looks like you have a boat that actually sails now. 🎉
Yeah it is great. I am having to learn what she likes and what she doesn't like all over again as she does handle slightly different now.
-sam
love your videos, thank you for sharing your life with us. i am living through you guys
Thank you so much! Greatly appreciate it 💜
-Cait
Great video. She is sailing beautifully
Thank you so much Genie! She is doing amazingly since the refit - very proud!
- Cait
Wow that looked like a quick sail . Loved seeing you sail through middle island pass
Why hello LL crew! Yeah we had a great time! Middle Island Pass was fun but we were sailing with lickery split and they took a massive short cut right next to the rocks. Nothing beats local knowledge hey.
❤🎉 you guys rock
Thank you Imo! 💜

Another great video, looks like your modifications are paying off. Congratulations.
Thanks so much! We are still learning how she sails best.
-sam
Awesome sail guys. Next night sail, maybe Cait would pull the all nighter 😂
Hahaha I like the way you think lol. I was having to much fun. I turned into captian araldite and wouldn't relinquish the helm loll

@@sailingwiththejamess lash her to the helm Mr Christian 😆
Hahaha I had to ask cait what you meant. She cracked up and showed me a bit of the movie lol.

Oh nice I'm glad you are happy with the anchor. 60kts while swinging 180" is impressive.

What was the name of the reef you sailed too?
Lady Musgrave, she's an absolute ripper of a reef 🤙

@@sailingwiththejamesswhere abouts are they located… and what was the bay you dumped rubbish at…..
The bay with the bins is Fisherman's Beach, and there's a row of places to eat walking down the path to the GKI Resort / Beach Bar
Last time in Oz, 5 yrs ago I paid $23 for a burger (waygu ? )..then the beer was another $10 ! Thank god i moved to Thailand 😊
It’s amazing how much prices have changed. We love a good burger but it's hard to compete with supermarket prices lol.-sam

It might be, we have been told it definitely is but I'd prefer a tomahawk steak from the supermarket lol.
