The razor blade idea is a genius 💡
Max
Beautiful job, thank you. I appreciate anything that supports our Police departments. My uncle Art was an Arizona State Trooper for quite awhile, then he became the Sheriff's deputy in Maricopa County for a long time. He worked for Joe Arpaio for years. He passed away about 10 years ago. He's buried here in Pa. where his wife is from. I think your flag is a fitting tribute to the fine men and women of law enforcement EVERYWHERE!!!! Thank you again.
God bless:
Dave/Stoney
Dave, thank you you so much for the positive feedback! That is amazing what your uncle did, im so sorry to hear that he has passed. I would love to have been able to thank him for so much service to this state and county! Thank you again and God bless
Max
@@MaxF01 You're very welcome. You deserve the positive feedback for what you're doing in memory of those who served. I was accepted into the PA state police academy, but never got there. The Military, Vietnam, life, family, and a job all got in the way. Uncle Art would have been a great friend to you. Thank you for keeping he and those like him alive in our memories I miss him horribly. In his late 60's early 70's he went back to college and attended ASU where he got his Masters degree in Criminal Psychology and became a Homicide Photographer for the Maricopa County Sheriff's department working for Joe again. Thank you for your time in replying.
God bless:
Dave
@@Stoney327 Thank you so much for your service, Dave. It is greatly appreciated. My dad was a Police officer for Phoenix and later worked as a detective, maybe they crossed paths at some point!
God bless and have a great day, Max
Thanks for the videos. I always put off making a flag because I thought it was hard. Watched your videos and now I have made many. Simple and easy to understand .
No problem John and thats so awesome to hear! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
Numerous amounts of elaborate content and extraordinary work, details a lot, the film was elegant, angelic, inspiring, Good, not to lengthy nor petite.
Wow! I am extraordinarily thankful for your comment!!
Great work! Good job on the step by step as well
Thank you so much i really appreciate it!!!
Good job. A year or so ago I made one for myself and some of my friends have ordered a few from me. Nice little extra income to. The only thing that I have done differently than you is the placement of the hangers. I use the sawtooth hangers but I place them so they are about 16” on center apart. That way it can be mounted into wall studs. It’s just a weight distribution. Thank you for your help. 👍
Thank you very much! Thats a great idea thank you for sharing 🙏🏼 im happy to help!
Wow! I like that flag! My home for 20 years! Another fine video!
Thank you!!
Your an idiot
I really like your work, the simplicity is appreciated,,
Ha you ever tried the tip that spreads the flame.. don't know what it's called..
Got one with a torch I bought yrs. Ago..
P.s. don't ask me where it's at now.
hey buddy, truth be told I went by your instructions (which are perfect) and after a day and a half working part time I had a really cool looking flag. Then picked up my brand new Dremel 3000 which I purchased just for this project and when it hit the wood it went zoowing!! across about 2 inches, ruined that one so started over, lol. I'm doing it for a friend who rides so a Harley theme -- replaced the blue w/orange and did an orange 1/2 2 stripes above. so...precautionary advice - if u haven'r used a dremel prior, think it out and try it something else first
Hey man im sorry to hear that you had some trouble with your first one, i hope the second one goes better! Thats gotta be a really cool look with the orange stripe! Thanks for sharing, hopefully it will save someone else from the same thing happening!
Great job, Max. Thanks for sharing. You helped me with ideas on how to create engravings. I have a Dremel and wood-burning equipment. So know you've given me directions as to what to do :) Thanks again.
Im very sorry i never got a notification for your comment. Thank you very much i really appreciate it! Thats perfect that you already got the tools! You are very welcome i am happy to help, and again i apologize!
Excellent video! Just started mine today. Done for the day after torching each piece. Thank you!
Im so sorry i didnt get a notification for your comment. Thank you so much! I hope your flag turned out great!!
I like to put my 3 white stripes for the union together and use a knife to mark the line before putting the razor blade in. Theres less chance of mis measuring each one seperately
Thats a great idea!
Thanks for the reply, keep up the great work and good luck with the sells!
Thank you so much my friend i really appreciate the support!🙌🏻
Awesome job thanks
Thank you! You are very welcome!
Great job on the flag, I have a made a few flags myself, but I am just now getting into the carving aspect, they were painted stars. As a beginner to the dremel can you offer some tips on the carving aspect? This is new territory for me lol. Thank You keep up the awesome work
Thank you so much i really appreciate it!! Hmm nothing that i can think of off the top of my head, just try not rush it because i think everytime i have tried to do that i mess up😂 thank you again, i wish i had some better tips for you, if i think of any i will definitely update you!
Great video I think I’ll have to try one.. I especially liked your detail by using the Dremel!!!
Thank you very much! Its definitely a fun project to make!
I'm from Phoenix Arizona this is dope
I'm making a thin blue line flag for deputy sheriff William brewer who was e.o.w. 2/2/19 responding to a armed suicidal man, who ended up taking his life, for detective brewer's cousin, thank you for what you are sharing with us, it will help heal hearts just wanted u to know brother
Thank you so much for sharing that with me brother i really appreciate it, thats a very inspirational thing to do and it will be such a meaningful gift for him to have. Thank you again and God Bless 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Great video!
Just a few tips. Get yourself a miter table/stand. Easier on the back. A Workmate can be bought for like 10 bucks, works fine and folds up for storage. Use some eye protection when cutting. Them peepers are important, lol! Slower cutting when using the saw also. And when sanding, a mask of some sort.
Such a great build. I plan on using a bunch of your tips when I start to make mine. I purchased the star template kit you linked. I really liked the Dremel stencil work you did. Just awesome.
Thank you very much and thank you for the tips! They are such fun projects make, i wish you the best!
@@MaxF01 , I just completed a Challenge Coin Display. I would be happy to send you a pic.
@@fishn365 thats awesome! I have actually been meaning to make one of those ive gotten a couple requests for a video on it. I would love a pic, if you have instagram you could send it through that. My instagram is maxf_yt
@@MaxF01 just sent you a message on Instagram.
Hope it worked.. I'm sorta lacking in the whole social media department, lol!
@@fishn365 got it, haha sometimes not being so connected to social media and online stuff is a good thing!
Awesome!! I love it!
I really enjoyed this video, I think I will have to try and make one for my friend. Thank you for sharing 👍🏻
Im glad you enjoyed it! They make for perfect gifts im sure they will love it! You are very welcome, best of luck to you!👍🏼
that is awesome what is the time frame to making it and what do you charge for these?
Thank you!! It depends on how detailed the design is of whatever im carving but i think this one took around 8 hours, and i mostly make them for friends and family so im not too sure what a good price would be
@@MaxF01 if you ever get around to selling these, i would love to order some.
Very helpful!
Your welcome, enjoyed the video
Your work is amazing!!!!! You have a great skill to be able to do all of this type of work. Very Impressive, I am going to try to make a few my state flags etc my self. The engraving is pretty unique it sets the flags off in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your videos with us all.
Thank you very much!! Im happy to share and i wish you the best in your flag builds 👍🏼
I know I'm kind of off topic but do anyone know a good place to watch new tv shows online?
@Trevor Benjamin flixportal :D
@Hamza Juelz Thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) Appreciate it!
@Trevor Benjamin You are welcome :)
That's cool, you should make a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office 👌
Looks great! Those flags are to honor the men, and women in law enforcement who gave their life serving their country as well. Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much i really appreciate the nice feedback!!! I completely agree with you!
Looks good.... I would have used blue stain around the Phoenix sign instead of black... also for fire do red...
Thats a good idea! It would probably make it pop out a little more, thank you for the feedback!
Dremel has a plunger that works very well on the stars.
Ill have to give that a try, thanks for the advice!!
That looks awsome
Thank you!!
Great Job very nice
Thank you very much, Sir!
How many flags can you do before you have to replace the Dremel bit?
Its around 10 flags before they start to slow down
I use a firm toothbrush to de-bur the stars.
Thats a great idea!
how or where did you get the outline for the police badge? Great work explaining everything
Just searched for it on google images and then saved it and printed it in black and white👍🏼thank you very much!
Have you ever tried to tape off the union then trace the stars? Maybe easier to see!? Great work!! I think you have a bright future on youtube.
Not a bad idea! Someone suggested i try use silver pencils for steel work and they should show up better but i still havent tried but i need to!! Haha theres gotta be a way to make it a little easier to see!😂 thank you very much i really appreciate that, i hope you are right!🤞🏼😁
@@MaxF01 I just tried it this afternoon. Green frog tape then traced with thin line sharpie. The only issue I had was the tape lifting up at times.
@@tomleonard1589 i see, ill have to try the silver pencils to see how they work, thanks for the info!!
Hello I was wondering if you can maybe make one of these for my brother and I will obviously pay! Please let me know
Hey man I’ve made about 4 flags now , I was wondering where do you get your wood from and could you tell me exactly what you look for in getting so it’s not bowed, thank you :)
Hey man im so sorry for the late reply i didnt get a notification for your comment! Ive gotten pretty much all of it from Home Depot, usually i gotta dig through the pile quite a bit and on every piece i just look down the edge to see how much it is bowing and as long is it isnt moving too much you should be good. Also i would stay away from anything that has a twist in it, ive found that a twist is a lot harder to work with than a board that has a slight curve to it. But for the most part i am able to find boards that are pretty darn straight and dont give any trouble. Hopefully this helps :)
Which black, and blue stains did you use? And where did you purchase them?
They are both Varathane water based wood stain from Home Depot and the blue is Navy Blue and the black is Midnight
Dude I just started making these and yours are great. Also what is the F for in Max F, my name is maxfield lol why I'm asking
Shoot man im sorry youtube never notified me for your comment. Thanks a lot i really appreciate it! Haha its just my last name initial and dude thats an awesome name!
After you oulined the stars with the 105 bit, did you switch to a larger bit to clean out the middle or did you stick with the 105?
I switched over to the 106 for the middles
I like to burn the black parts, no need to buy stain lol.
Have you ever tried to make a flag were your rounded the end of the stripes and then painted the stars?
Great job Max!! Where did you get the blue and red stains and what color of blue is it?
Thank you!! I got the red from Lowes it is Minwax water based wood stain tinted in Scarlet. The blue is from Home Depot and it is varathane water based wood stain tinted in navy blue. Let me know if you have any more questions
Do they add the blue tint or you do that yourself?
Where did you get the stencil for the stars?
Off Amazon, there is a link to it in the description
What color blue is that? Navy blue?
Yep 👍🏼
I always like to burn the backs of the flags that I make
❤
Thank you😁
Super great video! I'm wondering what you charge for a flag like that?
Thank you very much! I would say around $250-300
I’m having a hard time making one my brother just graduated the police Academy. If you can get back to me please do. Thank you.
@Max F what kind of wood do you use?
And where do you get it
Just common board from home depot
What color blue stain do you use?
Its Navy Blue, from Home Depot
Am I the only person that cringed when he started hammering on the razor blades!? There's gotta be a safer way lol
Haha i havent had any break on me yet but it could be a bad day if one did! Ill keep an open mind for a safer way 👍🏽
⚫️⚫️⚫️🔵⚫️⚫️⚫️🇺🇸
What colors are you using.
They are both from Home Depot and they are both Varathane Water Based wood stain
The blue is tinted in Navy Blue
The black is tinted in Midnight
@@MaxF01 ..semi transparent
Hey Max, I ride with Hometown Heroes Motorcycle Association in TN. Can you comment your email address so I can talk with you about maybe making a couple of these for us. Thanks
Why do people think the thin blue flag is bad it shows support to the police
it is ok and I also support black people as a white
disgrace f the blue line
As a veteran I am extremely disturbed by this flag. My brothers didn't die for that blue flag!!! Absolutely disgusting what you are doing
I am a veteran too. I am NOT offended. I am also a retired deputy sheriff. My brothers there DID spill their blood for that flag! People make green line flags for the military with the appropriate patching. Also a flag can be made without any colored line with the patching of whatever military unit or branch you want. You do not have to die on foreign soil to protect this country. Get over yourself!
I make these and sell them at farmers markets. I don't call them flags. They are artwork based on, inspired by the flag, not the flag itself.
