Please don't call it quits, I understand where you are coming from and this show is definitely a painful watch BUT it has just as many beautiful and happy moments as it has sad ones. The writing is genuinely a one in a lifetime thing. The next few episodes won't be as tough as this one I promise! You'll regret missing all the beautiful things this show does if you stop here
yeah.. this guy channel seems never watched some movies before. like it happens lots of time in those deep story movies. i hope he can separate real life stuff and the fictional world.
As a fellow therapist, I want to support you continuing the show. I work with 16-24 yo clients, most of them experiencing homelessness and housing instability. I've been amazed by how much this show impacted them and listening to their takes on it has been so illuminating. They encouraged me to watch it for myself and I am just a huge fan, now. I listen to the soundtrack almost every day, too! I completely understand the urge to avoid it. However, this show is an absolute masterpiece and really worth it.
I know this wasn't aimed at me in any way but I wanted you to know reading your words made an impact today because I really needed to read this. I really needed it. Again, I know it wasn't to me, but thank you for making this comment. And I agree btw, my younger sister put me onto this show, and wow for a Netflix show...sometimes they hit. They mostly miss but this one is good & the soundtrack is amazing.
Please Mr Therapist, Dont stop. Try it that way, if you survive, you have seen all what is to learn. this is a wonce change. And if you cray, so be it: Look at the comments, they all support you. Grat comunity here =)
28:40 BINGO. Silco was being predatory when he asked "where is your sister?" He wanted to manipulate Powder to help him get rid of loose ends. But she literally and figuratively disarmed him. As soon as she hugged him and tells him she was abandoned, watch how it affects him. The initial cognitive dissonance followed by a recognition that he knows exactly how she feels. He was hurt by someone close to him too. Is he taking advantage of her? To some extent, yes. But it's more than that. Silco is a lonely man with his own abandonment issues. He knows what it's like to feel powerless and hurt. I think you'll see that the story goes in a very nuanced direction from here.
If their traumas had been supplementary, they could have healed each other, but as their traumas were complementary all they did was overlap and feed each other's sense of abandonment.
@@FVC20 He and Sevika literally call her his daughter. He does genuinely love her, he just loves her in a very codependent way that is, at times, unhealthy for both of them.
I think he was really surprised she was there. This fight was between him and Vander. I don't think he necessarily had anything against the kids - they were in his way and so needed to be eliminated. And I don't really think he wanted to manipulate Powder cause she's just really so fucking young, a traumatized little kid. She'd be more trouble than help (and was). When Silco comes up to Powder you can see an internal struggle when he raises his knife. She's a loose end but she's not just any kid. He knows her. He knows the connection he had to Vander and, importantly to her mother. He knows who her mother is. I think when he asks "where is your sister?", he genuinely wanted her to have someone who would take care of her. I feel like he softened and became old Silco there. And when she violently throws herself at him, and says "she's not my sister anymore" - I think that Silco feels as though this is all fate. He is supposed to raise Vander's child, the child of Zaun, of all their hopes and dreams, and things would be different this time. The tragedy is that it's exactly the same and he repeats the trauma patters with Powder, that Jinx repeats with Isha. I'm gonna go cry now.
The best animated series, no doubt The best television series, by a wide margin, in my opinion One of the top 5 best film/television productions amongst the best pieces of narrative fiction ever created in any medium He would be worse off if he chose not to finish it.... imagine the warped view of Arcane one would have if they stopped here.
It isn't quite apparent yet, but Silco is a bit more complex than you might expect. He's an angry individual, but in those last frames, you can see that he sees a bit of himself in Powder - someone who was left behind by those they trusted, someone betrayed by family. That's why he didn't kill her, because in his eyes, the two of them are the same.
Silco is complex, sure, but he's still evil and manipulative af. Some of the vocal fanbase of the series fanboys Silco way too hard, it's disturbingly out of touch. Some reactors who are disturbed by Silco get hate comments over it, ridiculous.
People say Silco is complex as if that somehow justify his evil. There's a reason why Vander had to betray him. The talk with Vander makes it pretty clear. Silco gained respect but it wasn't enough. He kept escalating the violence and eventually led to that war on the bridge which was the breaking point for Vander. Silco may have done it for Zaun, but he lost sight of what's important. He'd gone way too far that he was hurting Zaun more than helping, but he refused to see it. Now he's back far worse than before - he's willing to eliminate even his family with his own hands. By family I don't mean Vander. I'd understand if he was only targeting Vander.
@@rustygear447 right his plan here is to literally murder not only Vander but all the kids loyal to Vander, some of whom Silco was close to their parents. He doesn’t care at all, and even taunts them all before mobilizing to execute them. Only reason he doesn’t murder Powder in the end is because he realizes he can manipulate her into his puppet.
Keep going...you will seriously see some of the most dynamic character development out there...this show will rip your heart out, but somehow in the best possible way. I am genuinely interested in your analysis at the end of it all. Remember - no journey is worth it without a struggle.
Please don’t quit, the show gets a thousand times better in the next arc, including with the mental health content that becomes both interesting and compelling in new ways. This show doesn’t just make you cry, it makes you laugh too ! You’ll also start to see that characters that may seem like horrible and traumatizing people are all more complex than that and are capable of love too. Give it a go, please. You won’t regret it.
I'm sure someone would have pointed it out, but Vander figured out what Vi was going to do because of seeing the bunny rabbit that she gave to Powder, which was her favorite toy growing up. It had been stuck up, out of reach for years and she decided to gift it to Powder before going away. It's shown only briefly in the show when Vander alerts the kids that enforcers are coming, but Vander stores the message container underneath the bar (remember he was rolling it back and forth when Marcus came in). I'm sure he put the two together - old bunny rabbit that meant so much to Vi, and the missing message container. There's a lot of subtext in the show, so if you're not watching the characters you might miss these smaller moments. They also do hear Vi in the cellar, because the first thing Grayson asks is "I take it, that's for me", in relation to Vi's banging on the door. Vander offers himself up in her place.
Just watched the whole video and I'm so sorry that this episode had such an impact on you. I understand that you see this sort of thing a lot and I can understand how this might be too much. This is one of the most pivotal episodes of the series minus the finale. There is a time jump in Episode 4, so they're no longer children but you can see the sort of person she's become as a result of being brought up by Silco. This show has a lot of darkness in it overall, but the overall theme is the bonds of love and how those bonds can both make and break us. We all have different tolerances when it comes to media, and sometimes things can be so reminiscent of real life and your own experiences that it makes them impossible to enjoy. Some people have said the same as you that they were only able to watch it once, whilst others have said that shows like this have helped them process their own trauma. For me personally, I connect with Vi's story. I have a younger sister in my life, whom I care about deeply. My dad left when we were young, so I've stepped into fill the void as the older brother, when there's been few people there for me. My mum's spent half of her life ill, so any semblance of family has been driven by the need to support and protect my family (and I'm not very good at it, but I do my best). A lot happened to my sister whilst I was away at university, and it's my regret that I wasn't there for her. Vi's love for her sister is what I relate to the most in the show, that no matter what happens she'll keep fighting to bring her back.
@@Adonna2424 she also tells the story about the bunny when she wants to comfort Powder- She lists things they messed up in the past. Even tho this isn't something Vi messed up herself, given she was kid. So she 'fixes' the bunny situation right before she turns herself in and fixes this current situation.
A lot of people get mad at Vi this episode. And while some of it might be reasonable, people seem to forget that she is a child too. She is somewhere between 12 and 16. And she just lost her family for the second time, only this time its because her sister killed them. Yes, she acted out and she shouldnt have punched Powder. And yes, she stormed away. But she just needed some space. She is MAYBE two blocks away. And the instant she sees her sister in danger, she immediately tried to go to her and save her. Vi absolutely didnt abandon Powder here.
Please, Mr. Therapist, don't stop reacting to this fantastic series. For the following reason: I am a 32-year-old male in therapy and since I saw this series, my success has increased dramatically. I could cry, I could admit feelings that I had kept locked away. I try to get my therapist to watch the series. Because I think that the series would have a positive therapeutic effect on many patients (not all, with careful supervision). That's why I hope you watch it. Even if it will hurt, and I can promise you that this series can hurt (it will break your heart several times). But it's worth it. Because it is so fantastically made that you always have fun watching it. This series could be helpful in therapy (as well as it worked for me). And it is full of small and big stories that fit together. Well, in short, the story is believable. But it is your decision and I will respect it. Because I think it is possible that this series will make you unfit for work. Behind all the stories that you are told; day after day, there is now a story, with a voice, with eyes and with a nose. It could destroy you, or make you the best therapist in the world =) jo;-)ke =D
this is why i love to see people like you watch this show, not becouse i want to see you struggle whit it, its because you have a perspective that most of us dont have, and with your prespective we can see the ligth at the end of the tuner and not just the darknes, dont quit the show, so you can see the other side
Ok I see some people disagree, but I fully agree with you. This is the hardest episode to get through. Other parts may get close but they don't beat this one.
I would recommend watching at least one more episode. The next episode after this will be a good indicator for how the show will be going forward. I'd say try watching that one and then decide if it's still too much or if you're fine to continue.
The sheriff clearly hears Vi. She said it when they entered, "I'm guessing that's for me". They know exactly what's going on, Vander is giving himself up instead of Vi, which they (reluctantly) accept.
26:10 thats actually incorrect. Mylo managed to free Vander and Claggor managed to break a hole in the wall for them to escape seconds before they got blasted by the explosion. Powder indeed "jinxed" it :o
Wrong, Shimmer Deckard only has to catch ONE of them and the rest will quit fleeing and turn to try and save the one that got caught. So long as Shimmer was in play they were all dead. The only reason Powder and Vi survive is because Powder joins Silco and Silco THINKS Vi is dead.
Even if Silco didn't immediately catch Vander and the kids, Vander and his children would have to flee the Undercity. That was actually Silco's plan all along. Either get Vander to re-join the fight, or get him out of the picture permanently so Silco can finally fulfill his oath to free the Undercity even if he has to dig through Bedrock with Blisters. Silco never betrays an oath and Silco never forgets when someone betrays an oath. Those are both his ethics and morals.
This is extremely wishful thinking. It's actually highly likely that they would all die. The fact is, Powder just killed them earlier than it likely would have happened (and inadvertently saved Vi). Vander and Vi are hurt, they have to jump out of that hole in the wall from a pretty high ledge, Deckard was about to break that door and he for SURE would have caught them.
Yes, definitely please keep watching - the relationship between Powder and Silco is absolutely fascinating and is certainly more complicated and interesting than just "being groomed by Silco." I think someone with your background will have a lot of insight into its complexity and will be able to really appreciate how masterfully it's written. Also, among the many amazing elements of what makes this show awesome, I want to give some special attention to Mia Sinclair Jenness, who was the voice actress for Powder. Most of the time, shows like to cast adults for difficult roles even for characters who are supposed to be younger, because it's a lot more likely that an adult voice actor will have the skill and experience to produce a better performance. But Jenness was a literal child when she did the recording for this role, about 12 years old, I think. It is VERY rare for a child actor to be capable of that kind of incredible performance with such convincing emotion, and I think she deserves super kudos for pulling off what was asked of her for a character like Powder.
so glad someone mentioned powder's va! she deserves the recognition and everyone who watches this episode Needs to know that such a talent was so young for this! I hope to hear her in so many more roles.
I can understand not wanting to watch it. But consider this: your insights on these topics are very valuable to so many. This is really only the beginning. It’s such a real, human story.
They're aware Vi is inside thats why Grayson said "is that for me?". They can hear her, its just that they know Vander is fully decided to take the fall instead so they just ignored.
Ugh I'm so glad you got to this episode. So many reactors and friends that I recommended this show to gave up on watching it on episode 1 or 2 thinking it was too slow. Most people that reach this episode never look back and the show becomes insanely good.
@@hunteruk3967 A lot of people find them slow. Can't related personally since I watched them first time with Twitch live when they premiered and it was a fun exciting event for league players at the time , but a lot of people do quit before getting to episode 3.
@@hunteruk3967 When I watched it first time i didn't think it was slow and I enjoyed it a lot, but a lot of people that I know quit watching before reaching episode 3, so i started adding disclaimer when I recommend the show that first 2 might be a bit slow. Truth is that I can understand why first 2 feels slow to a lot of people, the plotline gets revealed in episode 3, and this is where the hook is too. That's like Nami Luffy hat episode to a lot of people in One Piece, its where you can tell the show is special.
26:18 Nooo! Thats the thing! Nobody wouldve died, the wall was broken open, Vander free, they couldve left! But THEN Powder's bomb exploded, and killed them all.
Take some time to process. It is rough at times and many more heartbreaking moments. It's worth it, though. Complex and nuanced in a way few stories are these days. Even our villains get humanized, and in a way some a mirror on us as well and how we lose our own humanity. Silco's monologue at the beginning is such a beautiful thing. I've been where he's at in that moment, especially recently when I got diagnosed with mesothelioma 2 years ago. Terminal cancer felt like drowning for sure, and that monologue encapsulates exactly how I have processed it and battled it. I can easily see how someone can lose a sense of morality from that experience though.
@@Kaylos29 Wishing you the very best on your health journey. I hope you have the strength, support and love you need to face it. I'm happy this series spoke to you, the characters are so grounded and flawed, and imperfectly perfect. I know I'm a random commenter, but I hope this Christmas is one to remember and you keep fighting and make it through 2025 x
@@wattsonthetube It's been rough, but found myself in a way I never thought I would. Done some amazing things and gotten some really good memories with my children. It's looked dire at times. I've already beaten the odds and the fight isn't over yet.
@@Kaylos29 It's really incredible to hear the way you've come to reflect on one of the toughest things to go through in life (only thing comparable is to see a loved one contend with something similar). It's our struggles in life that teach us the most about ourselves. I know the fight isn't over, but I'm happy to hear you have something to fight for. YAYYYYY I LOVE THE ARCANE REACTION SERIES edit: you should def keep watching!! This is for sure the saddest s1 episode but it won’t be this sad, you should def keep watching, this next episode is a time jump so powder won’t be a child
The writing in this show is top tier, tons of parallels, call backs and impressive character development. there are tears going forwards, but sadly that's part of the journey, they come with the happy moments and the resolutions.
The next episode they’re older/adults! This set of 3, the show kinda goes in 3-episode segments, was like the prologue. It gets more intricate than you may think, and everyone isn’t cut and dry evil or good. Please watch episode 4 🙏🏽
Almost no character is written one-dimensionally in Arcane. There is lots to unwrap in all of them, not least Silco and the core outcome of his desicions in this episode. This show, as it progresses, makes you question feelings you had early on. Character arcs are top tier stuff and the whole of Arcane IS worth your time, season 1 and 2 both.
I think it's very understandable if you don't want to keep watching this, Arcane at its core knows how to pull at heartstrings to create empathy, and then use that emotion to devastate you in both the worst and most beautiful way possible.
Keep going please !! I know the episode was quite rough but each character is so unique by the way they act and the reasons they act a certain way, its super understandable why you’d want to call it quits but it will all be worth it in the end !!
I think you will be interested in Powder and SIlco's dynamic moving forward. He is not taking advantage of her. He actually feels empathy due to being betrayed himself. Not saying it's healthy, rather complicated actually. No more to avoid spoilers.
Trust me, Powder is not being taken advantage of. Later on in the series you will see. Silco, before taking Powder, looks over to Vander(someone he saw as his own brother) and remembers how Vander nearly killed him and abandoned him. He then looks down at Powder again and realizes that is what just happened to her. So he hugs her and takes her because he knows what that pain is like
I love your reaction. Especially the the horror at the end XD. It's good to see an experienced man with such a human gesture. It means that I'm allowed to do it too. I'm 32, and I locked my feelings away a long time ago. For 3 years I've been working hard to let them in again. Arcane and the 62 reaction videos have triggered a lot in me. Every now and then I'm allowed to shed a tear too. And it fills me with joy, because it proves that all is not lost for me.
Please keep watching! Love hearing your analysis ... This series is worth it Tom... not gonna lie, it's going to be emotional ride though. Powder will have her redemption arc ❤🔥
I almost quit here too, it’s such a heartbreaking show. I can’t blame you for not wanting to finish it, but it is a beautiful watch. Im currently stuck on season 2, episode 6 myself. I cried like a baby watching it, and I can’t bring myself to watch act 3
Vander: sees the Vi's favorite bunny stuck midair everyday, knows the story behind it. sees Powder now has the bunny, surely a gift from Vi. Instead of cuddling the bunny, Powder seems upset, it is a parting gift... VI IS TURNING HERSELF IN
Without spoiling it, this is a tragedy of repeated an parallel cycles that touch multiple generations in this area of this world, but it shows important lessons I think an they are ones the world needs right now, ep 3 shows the results of grief driven actions, an the rest of this season shows both its effect, an the ignorance higher society to it, personally would enjoy learning your insights on those effects, from you because as someone who relates to powder,I think having a voice of reason on the emotion button that is a trauma response is helpful, an coming to a point where now I know I went through a storm but I AM NOT the storm itself is something that needs to be talked about more
This is not a typical series. All of the characters are written with depth. You are just getting to know them. This episode is the first drop of the roller coaster. I certainly won't promise you rainbows and gum drops. It does explore the good and bad in each of the characters. It is messy just like real life, but through a cartoon fun house mirror. These characters do incredibly heroic things, triumphs, heart break, and make life altering bad decisions. It is thought provoking, beautiful, and tragic in an epic manner. The music, art style, and story are superb in my opinion. It does a great job of eliciting so many emotions in an incomparable style. You just met these characters. They have a far deeper history than you know at this point, and they tell an incredible tale. The show is kind of like a metaphor for most of our lives. A mix of breath taking tragedy and triumph.
i love this series, its heartbreaking and a tragedy but its also such a beautiful, well-written story. definitely one that is painful to see and difficult to process, so please take all the time you need, but i've found your reactions so interesting and it'd be great if you continued them. over the course of the full two seasons the characters have such meaningful story arcs, and unique moments of hope as well as the despair you saw. this one was one of the saddest episodes in the entire show in my opinion, the ones that follow aren't as bad so please don't let it discourage you!
7:01 Almost. So to clarify: - Vi knows about the capsule. - Vi makes up her mind and decides to give herself up to resolve the conflict. - Vi tells Powder about this. - Vi sends the actual message. Meanwhile Powder is sad about this at the bar. - As the enforcers are on their way to arrest Vi, Vander notices Powder being upset. He realizes something is wrong and confronts Powder. She reveals Vi's plan to Vander. - Vander rushed there to step in but only arrived a little before the enforcers got there. - Vander decided to give himself up instead of Vi because he also realizes the situation won't resolve on it's own. - Then things happen.
I totally agree with another commenter here that it IS really worth at least watching the next episode to see the direction of the show from here on out. If it is too emotionally heavy to continue I totally get it, but the show does explore a lot of really good and deep stuff, it does have lighthearted moments throughout even as there is a lot of darkness and some more heartbreaking moments as well. I do think this episode is the saddest and most painful of the entire show, there won't be anything *this* bad for the rest of the runtime
You missed the line when she first came in and asked Vander "I assume that's for me." They KNEW Vi was there, but once Vander offered himself up, they didn't care Vi was there or not... so they ignored her screaming as much as Vander did.
Silco is the most interesting character and probably the only one who understands jinx and doesnt try to change her, please keep watching at least season 1, its simply beautiful
26:13 but they weren't all going to die... as the monkey bomb was going off, Clagor broke a hole in the wall for all them to escape, Milo freed Vander's last cuff, and Vi had securely locked them behind a heavy door. Go watch that scene again. With Vander free, and an escape plan, they had a very good chance for all or most of them to survive. Powder was a kid with good intentions but she really was a jinx. Start of episode: I'm so excited! I can't wait to watch more! End of episode: I'm dreading watching anymore. Amazing reaction overall 👌 Hope to see more 🙏 this is the heaviest episode of the series. It's still heartfelt and dramatic but quite a bit less depressing until season 2. Next few episodes should be a lot more fun
You REALLY have to pay attention to everything that is going on or you'll get lost. This is not easy story telling. Hope this helps: 1) VI sent the canister to turn herself in, Vander figured it out and switched them out 2) Purple stuff is called Shimmer, think of it as super steroids that turns you into a hunk full of rage and violence and it's addictive < remember this 3) Marco/bad anger cop made a deal with Silco to turn over Vander but these deaths were NOT supposed to happen 4) Silco and Vander have a LONG LONG history you'll find out about throughout the seasons (and yes, that was them fighting at the start) 5) Ekko name is a hint to his abilities (especially in game) - you'll find out 6) Silco's eye is that way because the water is EXTREMELY toxic from the mines to the point where it's poison that ate through his flesh and nerves. That's why he shoots his eye with meds as a pain reliever 7) IMO - sometimes it's far worse to not see something and constantly imagine it in so many forms it haunts you 8) It's definitely a mental break point for Powder 9) It's ARCANE aka magic to change time and space 10) Actually, the way things were going (Milo unlocking Vander, Clagger finding an exit, VI buying time), they would have made it out but we'll never truly know 11) I know you want to rag on VI but you have to think of what she just went through and then the absolute shock of finding out Powder essentially and inadvertently kill them, the rest of their family. I'm sorry but there is NO 'pulling it together' in that moment 12) Marcus (the shady cop) drugs and pulls VI away 13) Silco doesn't initially take advantage of Powder, he sees in her someone betrayed by the people she loved, alone, suffering, she's the same as him 10) IMO - This is one of the hardest episodes to watch BUT this storytelling, character growth and learning you will experience through this series is worth the pain and tears. HERE'S MY CAPS IF YOU ONLY READ ONE THING - YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK. YOU KEEP GOING TO THESE OLD TROUPS AND THIS IS NOT THAT SHOW. PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE WOULD NOT LOVE THIS SHOW IF IT WAS JUST THAT. I'll be brutally honest, it's like the saying goes, 'If you can't be with me at my worst, then you do not deserve my best.' Especially as a therapist it's surprising that you easily walk away but it's your channel, your decision and I hope you reconsider.
Just remember every three episodes is an arc, so it is totally normal to need to take time after watching the third to digest the content. That said, I do think it is one of the best stories ever put on a screen, so while you should take your time, it's definitely something to finish. I love your content and would really like to see your opinions, especially if you do a deeper discussion after each of the arcs.
This was the episode that got me hooked. Can't quit now. This show was written to give the viewers highs and lows. Every character has highs and lows. We all do...
Hey man, from here on out, the feels will only be hit harder in the series but you should definitely watch Arcane entirely. Especially a professional like you, you going over this series and talking about things will be such an interesting and helpful source of mental health for everybody watching. I'm a 24 year old guy and I lost count at how many times i teared up watching Arcane. It is indeed a very sad show but also a very beautiful one, pull through, I promise to you, you won't regret it. Been watching you for a couple of years now and think what you're doing is awesome. Keep it up. Greetings from Germany!
It’s just so well-made and you seem like one that understands the complexity of things so it would be interesting to see your reaction to it( so continue watching)
Please, continue... this show is such an intense piece of art...there is not only pain in it, but also, happiness, love, compassion...please, don't quit.
To clarify in the beginning, Vi learned of Vander's deal with the enforcers from Ekko (Little Man) and presumably, about the canister Grayson gave Vander. Since Grayson met Vander at Benzo's and since Ekko works at Benzo's, it's safe to assume the canister could've only be sent from Benzo's. Vi used it to turn herself in. When Vander sees Powder depressed at the bar with Vi's old bunny toy, he must've put 2 and 2 together and probably noticed the canister missing from under the bar. He realized that Vi took his lessons about responsibility and how war doesn't solve anything to heart. When Vander locks Vi in the cellar at Benzo's, Grayson and Marcus can clearly hear Vi pounding on the door. She says, "I'm guessing that's for me." Vander gets in the way and offers himself up. Grayson doesn't want to put Vander away but the council needs to put someone behind bars. Vander outplayed Grayson. Vander would've fought back if they tried to take Vi by force and would've led to another ugly war between Undercity and Piltover. Grayson had no choice but to take Vander. Also, Silco's original plan was to give up Vander's kids to Marcus so that he could try and re-recruit Vander or take him out quietly and take over the Lanes. At this time, Vander is still well respected and if anyone found out that Silco killed Vander, this would not have been achievable. When Silco learned that Vander was intercepting Vi at Benzo's, this threw a wrench in his plan so he had to kill Grayson and any other enforcers(besides Marcus) that might have been with her. With Vander's kids still about, he couldn't outright kill Vander. He kidnaps him and lays a trap for Vi, Mylo and Claggor so he could take them out all at once, out of site. Silco left Marcus alive for two reasons: 1) He needed someone to explain what happened to Grayson and any other enforcer that was with her to keep Piltover out of his hair and 2) It's not a bad thing to have an enforcer in your pocket. This is one of the amazing things about 'Arcane', at least in season 1, is that cause and effect are on full display here and it doesn't hold the audience's hand and spell everything outright for us. If you go back and rewatch, you'll discover deliberately inserted details that make nearly everything that happens in this series explicable.
I hope you are alright! While I do wish for you to continue this series. Mental health always goes first! There are lot of emotional moments in this series, but it is what makes it so beautiful. I hope you can find in your heart to continue watching. Much love from a german exchange student staying in China
The compelling thing about the characters in this show is how many are victims of one kind or another. Just your heart goes out... and people are likely to find something they can relate to.
Ekko told Vi about Vander's deal with the enforcers and the message canister. Vi sent the message in order to turn herself in and save the others. When Vander saw that Powder had the bunny toy Vi had lost up on the wires years ago he realized it was a 'goodbye' gift. Vander then went to stop Vi and turn himself over in her place. The enforcers DID hear Vi. Grayson even said, "I'm guessing that's for me". They just went along with Vander taking the blame.
This series is so important to watch all the way through, the way it covers trauma and mental health can be truly eye-opening. Definitely would love to see your commentary all the way through!!
Totally respect that this show, especially this episode, is an incredibly difficult and impactful watch that may not be healthy for you to continue given your occupation 🫶 Thank you for giving it a shot regardless and for having such insightful commentary. If you ever find yourself able to continue, I hope that the progression is enjoyable to watch! Happy Holidays :)
you NEED to keep watching dude! This show is a literal rollercoaster of emotions, good and bad and literally ALL emotions are worth it. Missing this show is like missing a pot of gold. The animation, the story, the characters, everything is SO satisfying in many ways.
Please continue, I think it’s such a emotionally impactful show and having someone talk about it from a professional viewpoint helps point out the signs of different things and it’s beautiful yet sad messages But I also see your point. Messages like that are your reality within your job and it’s understandable if it’s too overwhelming to see every day then transferred to television
Thanks for your reaction, and analysis❤ But please don't quit😢 The story of this show and how characters are changing, their motivations, personalities are incredible. We need your analysis❤
They did hear Vi in the basement. The Enforcers thought he put her down there, so that they can take her into custody. But he showed that he is the one getting arrested. They don't go open that door because they know Vander doesn't want it and wouldn't let them. He literally sacrifices himself for her. What else would he not do to safe her. They just said they needed someone to put behind bars and vander gave himself up. Also funnily we see that Claggor just opened the wall for them to escape and Mylo fully freed Vander, all of them were in that room. It would have taken them at most 30 seconds to get out. So without Powder they likely would have gotten out of there. At least further. :(
I wish I could say the show gets less tragic, but sadly - just like in real life - sometimes the hits just keep on coming. That being said, the character arcs for all of these characters - Vi, Powder, Ekko, Jace, even Silco (the villain with the crazy eye) - are really worth watching develop. Through the good and the bad. I especially think you will appreciate the complex relationship that develops between Silco and Powder. I won't lie, this is far from the only episode that's tough to get through, but ultimately seeing how things play out for these characters is absolutely worth it.
The enforcers could hear Vi. But as they've shown, Sheriff Grayson had an agreement/arrangement with Vander. She knew Vander in charge was keeping the peace to some degree in and with Zaun, so she was willing to look the other way on certain things that others in Piltover (like Marcus) would've cracked down on. She took her cue from Vander that if he said he was turning himself in and that he was ignoring whatever was happening in that basement, she was going to follow along.
Please keep going. This is probably the roughest episode to get through. As others have said, the show has some really beautiful moments that make the rough ones all worth it.
You HAVE to keep going!! Their relationships get even more complex into adulthood, and season TWO!!! It's amazing at showing complex characters and interactions
please continue to watch this series - the third episode in particular is very, very difficult, and i can't promise that things will fix themselves immediately, but i truly think that the journey the characters go through is something you would really be able to appreciate as a therapist (particularly powder's journey; in my opinion, hers is one of the most well handled character arcs i've EVER seen. her mental illnesses are portrayed in a way that humanizes her, that makes you empathize with her incredibly difficult reality, where most shows and books make characters like hers "insane monsters" that are completely 'othered' or, at worst, comedic relief. but powder is truly never treated as someone who cant be saved, or isnt human. she is treated as someone who, due to their past, has lost the ability to see the good in themselves). i personally have really appreciated how you view the characters (apart from silco, who i believe you would come to have conflicted feelings about, as many of us have) through a very understanding and humanistic lens. this show means a lot to so many people because of its core messages, and i think your insight would be valuable to all of us.
I love how everybody starts off the show saying "Silco is nothing but evil," but by the end, he ends up becoming one of their favorite characters. He's so incredibly complex. One of the best-written antagonists in fiction. To be clear about that end scene: He is *kind of* taking advantage of her, but that's not really his intention. Silco sees a kindred spirit in Powder. Vander was his brother, before he betrayed and left him. Likewise, Vi was Powder's sister before she (in Powder's mind) betrayed and left her. Silco sees himself in Powder, and so he takes her in. Also, they were absolutely going to get out before the bomb blew up. Mylo had finished on the locks, and Claggor had just broken through the wall. If the bomb hadn't gone off, or if it had gone off half a minute later, they would have been fine. But because Powder set it off when she did, they all died.
Unironically enough he isn't "taking advantage of her", at least this isn't his intention (even if it plays out the same). It will be revealed later and it's so much better/deeper than "just a villain" using the situation. ;) Also, how he looks at Vander before embracing Powder. He relates to her more deeply as shown by his memories and how he fell out with Vander himself in the past.
I know it is hard, but this serious will open your eyes and your heart in ways you never thought a show could and in such short time. Part of the journey of watching this masterpiece is realizing all of the struggles people go through on a daily basis. You have still yet to meet some amazing characters, please continue watching. Love your videos

+1 to this comment in particular.
I'm so glad you watched it!!
I am sure it helps your patients
This is probably the most human show I've seen in a long time.
Had goosebumps reading this. It‘s so amazing that these kids can pull positive energy from this show 🙏

I love Silco and Jinx's relationship, he really thinks about Jinx as his daughter and he really cares about her, in his own way

It's like having an abusive relationship with the show that you can't walk away from.
Completely agree - while certainly not likable, Silco is easily one of the most interesting and complex characters in the whole show.
it is worth it
Silco is complex, sure, but he's still evil and manipulative af.
This is literally: watching a therapist self inflicting a need for therapy lol

Yeah VI giving the bunny to Powder is also a comfort, a reminder of her and their conversation.

The sheriff clearly hears Vi. She said it when they entered, "I'm guessing that's for me". They know exactly what's going on, Vander is giving himself up instead of Vi, which they (reluctantly) accept.
"Episode 3 traumatizing youtubers' is almost a separate genre of youtube videos.
@@Hawkidoyep
Even if Silco didn't immediately catch Vander and the kids, Vander and his children would have to flee the Undercity. That was actually Silco's plan all along. Either get Vander to re-join the fight, or get him out of the picture permanently so Silco can finally fulfill his oath to free the Undercity even if he has to dig through Bedrock with Blisters. Silco never betrays an oath and Silco never forgets when someone betrays an oath. Those are both his ethics and morals.
@@Hawkido i see so Deckard manages to break down the door hes unable to open up before the explosion.
Cant wait for you to react to the full series. Lets gooo

Almost no character is written one-dimensionally in Arcane. There is lots to unwrap in all of them, not least Silco and the core outcome of his desicions in this episode. This show, as it progresses, makes you question feelings you had early on. Character arcs are top tier stuff and the whole of Arcane IS worth your time, season 1 and 2 both.
nobudy is evel nobudy is good, even Silco ist not the evil. The only evil is Arcane itself
Sadly... this episode is a field day for therapist evaluation.
Brutal

Also the most amazing thing about this show is that every character is so complex that there is no clear villain and no clear hero
i love this series, its heartbreaking and a tragedy but its also such a beautiful, well-written story. definitely one that is painful to see and difficult to process, so please take all the time you need, but i've found your reactions so interesting and it'd be great if you continued them. over the course of the full two seasons the characters have such meaningful story arcs, and unique moments of hope as well as the despair you saw. this one was one of the saddest episodes in the entire show in my opinion, the ones that follow aren't as bad so please don't let it discourage you!
7:01 Almost. So to clarify:
- Vi knows about the capsule.
I meeaaan, 2x6 is pretty brutal
@kyu2o337 it IS youre right. still comparatively this episode is a bit harder of a watch imo!
@@nightdruid540 No, I agree...but that one comes close. I have reasons why that one's a little easier to stomach, but I don't want to get spoilery.
You missed the line when she first came in and asked Vander "I assume that's for me." They KNEW Vi was there, but once Vander offered himself up, they didn't care Vi was there or not... so they ignored her screaming as much as Vander did.
You really need to see the whole story. Because it's some of the best writing I've ever seen.
Please don’t quit. This would be such an important situation to bring awareness to. It’s such a beautifully done show.
Amazing reaction overall 👌
Hope to see more 🙏 this is the heaviest episode of the series. It's still heartfelt and dramatic but quite a bit less depressing until season 2. Next few episodes should be a lot more fun
You REALLY have to pay attention to everything that is going on or you'll get lost. This is not easy story telling. Hope this helps:
1) VI sent the canister to turn herself in, Vander figured it out and switched them out
2) Purple stuff is called Shimmer, think of it as super steroids that turns you into a hunk full of rage and violence and it's addictive < remember this
3) Marco/bad anger cop made a deal with Silco to turn over Vander but these deaths were NOT supposed to happen
4) Silco and Vander have a LONG LONG history you'll find out about throughout the seasons (and yes, that was them fighting at the start)
5) Ekko name is a hint to his abilities (especially in game) - you'll find out
6) Silco's eye is that way because the water is EXTREMELY toxic from the mines to the point where it's poison that ate through his flesh and nerves. That's why he shoots his eye with meds as a pain reliever
7) IMO - sometimes it's far worse to not see something and constantly imagine it in so many forms it haunts you
8) It's definitely a mental break point for Powder
9) It's ARCANE aka magic to change time and space
10) Actually, the way things were going (Milo unlocking Vander, Clagger finding an exit, VI buying time), they would have made it out but we'll never truly know
11) I know you want to rag on VI but you have to think of what she just went through and then the absolute shock of finding out Powder essentially and inadvertently kill them, the rest of their family. I'm sorry but there is NO 'pulling it together' in that moment
12) Marcus (the shady cop) drugs and pulls VI away
13) Silco doesn't initially take advantage of Powder, he sees in her someone betrayed by the people she loved, alone, suffering, she's the same as him
10) IMO - This is one of the hardest episodes to watch BUT this storytelling, character growth and learning you will experience through this series is worth the pain and tears.
LETS GOOO been waiting for you to upload this
This was the episode that got me hooked.
KEEP. GOING. PLEAASSEE. It's worth it!
I'm subscribing just to see you watching the rest of the show! Don't give up, it's definitely worth it
To clarify in the beginning, Vi learned of Vander's deal with the enforcers from Ekko (Little Man) and presumably, about the canister Grayson gave Vander.
Please continue this series! There is such value you would bring to this! It’s well worth it I promise even though tears will be shed
dont give up please!! its a masterpiece and im loving seeing your vision on this show
you're a real one. your take on this series will help hundreds maybe thousands stay strong. glade i just happen to find your channel
Please keep going (at lest for 1-2 more eps so you can decide to continue or not) because it really is one of the best shows out there
I hope you are alright! While I do wish for you to continue this series. Mental health always goes first! There are lot of emotional moments in this series, but it is what makes it so beautiful. I hope you can find in your heart to continue watching. Much love from a german exchange student staying in China
THIS EPISODE HELL YEAH
Yessss PLEASE CONTINUE!!!! I definitely took a break between these three epeisodes and the next parts of the series but it is a really good seties
Please continue, I think it’s such a emotionally impactful show and having someone talk about it from a professional viewpoint helps point out the signs of different things and it’s beautiful yet sad messages
But I also see your point.
This is an amazing show all the characters are super complex and genuinely it’s worth the watch! I really hope to see you continue it :)
Yes Doctor, you and us need that you continue. There is a lot of space for still teaching us ... pls.
I cried again watching this with you, please continue, this is an incredible show
Please keep going. This is probably the roughest episode to get through. As others have said, the show has some really beautiful moments that make the rough ones all worth it.
I understand your point but PLEASE finish this series! It's amazing, it has so many deep points I want to watch you react to😭
You HAVE to keep going!! Their relationships get even more complex into adulthood, and season TWO!!! It's amazing at showing complex characters and interactions
You’ve got to keep going it’s an amazing show it’s gut wrenching but it’s amazing and there is so much that this show goes through
HAHAHA I LOVE THIS. its so well written. I really hope you continue watching it, its tough but its amazing written. such a masterpiece
please continue to watch this series - the third episode in particular is very, very difficult, and i can't promise that things will fix themselves immediately, but i truly think that the journey the characters go through is something you would really be able to appreciate as a therapist (particularly powder's journey; in my opinion, hers is one of the most well handled character arcs i've EVER seen. her mental illnesses are portrayed in a way that humanizes her, that makes you empathize with her incredibly difficult reality, where most shows and books make characters like hers "insane monsters" that are completely 'othered' or, at worst, comedic relief. but powder is truly never treated as someone who cant be saved, or isnt human. she is treated as someone who, due to their past, has lost the ability to see the good in themselves). i personally have really appreciated how you view the characters (apart from silco, who i believe you would come to have conflicted feelings about, as many of us have) through a very understanding and humanistic lens. this show means a lot to so many people because of its core messages, and i think your insight would be valuable to all of us.
It’s one of the best pieces of media ever made and I hope you can continue, I’d love to see your analysis of what happens with the rest of it
Oh my.... Here we are
Unironically enough he isn't "taking advantage of her", at least this isn't his intention (even if it plays out the same). It will be revealed later and it's so much better/deeper than "just a villain" using the situation. ;)
Also, how he looks at Vander before embracing Powder. He relates to her more deeply as shown by his memories and how he fell out with Vander himself in the past.
That reaction to the end was incredible. Keep doing it I swear it's worth it
I know it is hard, but this serious will open your eyes and your heart in ways you never thought a show could and in such short time. Part of the journey of watching this masterpiece is realizing all of the struggles people go through on a daily basis. You have still yet to meet some amazing characters, please continue watching.
